My family immigrated to America. My family tried to raise me with my culture, but it's not the same, and I hate that. Your videos have been such a nice way to feel connected to who I am. Thank you.

I've wanted to for a while searching all the clans who fought in it especially as we have lost the O'Brien annals that would have had them all, it takes alot of time unfortunately, I will get to it though.

Me too! I’ve known about all this stuff for decades. It’s amazing how much information has came out on the Ui Ímair in the last five years or so. I’m so proud to have my family finally recognized for who they really were. My surname is McCaffrey (Son of Gofraidh). And my mothers family (Campbell) also claim descendent from Ímair. Kind of weird.

You are also very welcome, I know of the MacCaffreys of Fermanagh sept of the Maguires but I haven't come across the Ui Imair link before I look forward to researching that thank you, Although the more famous branch of Campbells is of Brythonic stock there are several origin points for different lines again thank you for pointing this out I haven't traced them all so I look forward to digging into the books.

@@Clans_Dynasties You have the right McCaffreys. The Campbells were from Scotland, south of Glasgow. The ones who murdered all MacDonalds. My mother had some relatives, including a grandmother, who lived in Dumbarton when Ímair raided the castle. And to make it weirder, there is also a McCaffrey from my mothers side of the family. So I have McCaffreys on both sides.

This dynasty also married into the royalty of Gwynedd in Wales, via Sigtryggr Silkbeard's granddaughter Ragnild. Two of the greatest Kings in Wales are therefore both descendants of this line; Owain Gwynedd (the first Prince of Wales), Ragnild's grandson, and Llewellyn Fawr (also a Prince of Wales), Ragnild's 2x great grandson. I am a direct descendant of this line.

@@Clans_Dynasties Thank you, finding out my father's dna was Scandinavian and Irish celtic got me really interested in tracing the family lines. The Allen line is connected to Alan the 2nd of brittany. Two other male lines tucker (toukere) and mullenix i traced back to normandy but records drop off around late 900s. I'd assume that's where some more of the Scandinavian and celtic mix came in more.

@@Clans_DynastiesThank you. The humblest of origins are still important too, I'd say they're just as important to helping build our nations like the ruling class. From what I've read the mullinex family line were most likely millers and the tuckers probably were farmers and cloth makers. Fun to learn about nonetheless.

That's awesome! My mother's father is an O'Keefe, my uncle worked at Penn state university. He traced our line. We've also done dna test and share dna with folks that still live around cork and munster. The O'Keefe where kings of munster and held a seat for hundreds of years. Castle Dromagh was their castle. Huge chance our ancestors fought one another or alongside one another.

I believe Clan Maxwell is a direct descendants of this line. Undewyn De Norseman, followed by his son Maccus De Norseman, who gave his name to a pool, or Weal in old English, on land granted to him by King David of Scotland near Kelso bridge along the river tweed.

I decend from MacLeod's and Macdonald's of Isle of Skye. Decendant of Somerled and Olaf the Black King of Dublin and Isle of Man. They are both said to have been Norse Gaels. Olaf of thr crovan dynasty is progenitor of clan Macleod. I have often assumed they were decendants of Ivar the boneless. I have seen many O'neil ancestors in my tree. I am a decendant of Calvagh O'Donnel Lord of Tyraconnel. My other Irish surname ancestors Fitzgerald, McCarthy, MacDonell, O'Brian. Many others I cant remember at the moment. Interesting video. Thanks mate..

Olaf's son, Leod, is the progenitor of clan MacLeod. His other son, Gilhemoire, is the progenitor of clan Morrison. Though, Gilhemoire and Leod are half brothers. They're both descendants of King Ímair.
