May I just point out that today, 12% of black americans are upper class; as much as 60% percent are middle class and 19% live below the poverty line. The very idea of reparations is ridiculous.

I have a great idea for white Californians, New York too. Tell the state you identify as black and start marking the African American box on everything you fill out, that way you won't have to pay. Has anyone in this video EVER read an American history book or paid attention in school! California was NEVER a slave state! If seriously you’re talking about reparations, how about the Native Americans forced into tribal lands? How about the Japanese who lost their homes and businesses during WWII. And yes, there were some black people who lost their land due to public construction or corrupt civil dealing like the Santa Barbara beach property case. But hold California responsible for the entire slave trade of the United States before the state even existed. And don’t say that black people today don’t have the same opportunities as other races. Whatever happened of someone being the product of their own hard work, accomplishments, and merit instead of constantly looking in the review mirror that looks back over 150 years ago that’s not relevant on how a black person or any person would build a productive future for him/herself. Look up Chris Rock, and how he talked about how his mom had to go through Jim Crow (a horrible time in American history for blacks) and how Chris Rock raised his daughter who was getting spoiled because of his wealth, to be a responsible, grateful, and productive person who later learned to be a culinary chef from France!

Why does California have to pay reparations for slavery? California is a union state. slavery never happened in california, and neither did segregation. Only the 13 Confederate states should have to pay reparations for slavery. Not the whole country. Over 600,000 white Union soldiers died in the Civil War fighting for the freedom of black people fighting to end slavery. That's reprotations paid in full. I believe reputations need to be paid but complain about reputations in a state where slavery never happened. Is' just like going to another country and asking for repertations. Where slavery never happened. Washington DC is the only Union state that should pay reputations for slavery. Because that's the only union state that was built by slaves. Besides the 13 Confederate states. The fact that the whole country gets blamed for slavery is racist and ridiculous. Slavery has always been against the law in the 37 Union states. They bought property within California. My grandparents came to California during the great migration whene when Washington DC decided to make a middle class for Caucasian Americans in Washington DC discovered that black African-Americans were actually buying a property. They made it harder for African-Americans to accumulate land in property. This is why in the 1960s houses in California went from being $12,000 to where it is now $500,000 for the same house is about keeping the black family down mentally spiritually, and financially in California that is why the crack epidemic started in California some of the most intelligent African-Americans moved here in the past
