"New Religion" and "The Chauffeur" were the songs that got me into Duran. On the last day of school term we were allowed to bring in toys etc. I spent most of the day in the playground with someone elses walkman and a copy of "Arena" replaying them over and over again...
This entire "As the lights go down" concert video is amazing! This is young Duran Duran back on 84. I saw them on this tour and it was just like this. They just added extra footage with dancers (not on tour, only the backup singers) and special effects for the video concert. Great reaction! Deftones made a great cover of "The Chauffeur".
I watched As The Lights Go Down live on ITV on Xmas Eve 1984. I was 13 and it was the most exciting thing I’d ever seen. It still makes my heart beat a little faster when I watch it ❤

Saw The Jackson’s Victory Tour in ‘84. Saw Duran Duran’s As The Lights Go Down show. Duran Duran’s concert performance was/is absolutely,beyond the shadow of a doubt the superior show.

When i saw them in this tour, The Sing Blue Silver tour, in 1984, I also loved Simon's hair so much, that i had my hair styled like his, frosting and everything, and I kept this up until right before my high school graduation back in 1989. The only change I made was cutting the blonde out as i had college interviews coming up. Funny thing, i had kept this style for so long, my hair now naturally falls back into this style. Since I have most of my hair, I have kept it up, just much shorter as "Big Hair" isn't in style. although, when. I go to Duran Duran concerts i will put in. A little blonde back in for the special night of music magic!

you should check out their song "Late Bar". It was the B-Side to their first single "Planet Earth". Not released on any album but it is a Duran classic.

A friend of mine saw them when they toured with Bowie. So jealous of her. We took her to see the Paper Gods tour, and she was like, "Oh, I've seen them before!"

When my son was 5yo, he called Duran Duran "haunted house music" 😂😂 So in 2006 when he was 16 I took him to New Orleans Voodoo Music Festival cuz who was headlining with Flaming Lips & Red Hot Chili Peppers?? They rushed the tempo a bit here, sounds a little rough but live makes up for it. The remastered version of this song studio album is clean, awesome bass, and very dramatic sounding build up to the chorus with the keyboards and Simons vocals. How did they get this good in the 25-30 year age range? Definitely had their own sound.
