I was in Saint Petersburg this summer. I thought im in fairytale. I chose a great time (20-30 of June), white nights and schools graduation, a big concert with 20 minutes of fireworks in the end. It was so much smoke after that.

Yes, Novgorod Land SHURE was a republic (in terms of 1253 Eastern Europe), the prince was elected at a general meeting, conditions were dictated to him
"The Veche - a meeting of part of the male population of the city - had broad powers (the "citywide" Veche): it summoned the prince, judged his "faults", "showed him the way" from Novgorod; elected mayor, warlords and Ruler bishop; resolved issues of war and peace; made and repealed laws; established the amounts of taxes and duties; elected government officials in the Novgorod possessions and judged them.

You can also do Congress of Vienna by Historia Civilis. It's another great series and it comes right after the napoleonic wars.

52:49 Good day. Your reasoning is flawed at the very beginning. Russia's expansion was based on the need to control trade routes and straits with access to warm seas with year-round ports. This was a vital necessity in opposing Europe and Great Britain, in particular... This is a question of the development and independence of the state.

The Soviet Union was a world power rivaling the usa. That's what the whole cold war is about.
This kid doesn't know much history.

The Cia had lied about the economy of the Soviet union having a strong economy. Whether you like it or not, the soviets were much weaker than most assume, they just taxed their citizens to death. And tell me if the soviet union was so powerful, why did it have the standard of living of a "Developing" country.

@@BennettGFC they didn't. It's just projection. The US is the richest and strongest state in world history and their citizens live like it's a third world country. It's quite pathetic when Americans project everything their country is to the image of the "big bad soviets"

@@BennettGFCsilly statement, especially since 1960 “soviet” government started to bankrupt its own economy in order to prove “the failure of socialism to the nation” and to become ready for integrating into western capitalism. If you don’t believe it, just look at the current Russian political elite - all of them are former communist party members who once swore “to fight against western imperialism”.

@@user-kz4mu6qz3j I personally believe the Soviet Union during Stalins reign was awful with him being responsible for millions of deaths in Russia (discounting ww2) and the post Stalin era was a fight between the United States and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was destined to fail due to the state banning religion destroying the morality in place for themselves, because the state cannot replace religion. America is now destroying religion and look at how bad things are doing in America vs its past. The Soviet Union did have a very powerful military and more nukes then the USA, but in exchange the Soviets (with a horrible economy due to them being communist) had the people poor, and in massive food lines. The Soviet Union died due to bad economy and lack of morals, the people were good and I truly believe the Russians have gone through everything and are truly the toughest people ever, but the State was corrupted and weak minded, which the people immediately went back to Eastern orthodox after the fall of the Soviet Union. The United States has its faults but ultimately Capitalism was a more successful system and the USA was a much stronger opponent picked by God. How long will the US remain stronger though?
