i have done these turbo alternators many times and access to the bolts is much easier if you remove the rear wheel, i have also had many alternators stuck fast in the bracket and were incredibly hard to release but yours was easy

Omg. I’m happy that I found this channel that has GEN4 (not this video). Thx Bob. Subscribed

I used to leave the exhaust in because normally it’s rusted to shit lol and I would remove the 3 transmission mount bolts from the subframe then the 4 subframe bolts themselves and let the subframe hang on the control arms swap the alternator then jack the subframe back into place and bolt it back in.

for those who couldnt get the exhaust off i removed the fuse box and transformer and was able to get it the alternator through the top

Is it the same removal step with a gen 3 with beak exhaust?

Thanks for the detailed video, though I'm wondering, wouldn't it be easier to do from the bottom up? Again thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I meant skipping the first part where you're undoing things at the top.

I'm planning to replace my alternator; however, I want to ask you would this be similar to non turbo sw20?

Thanks for the video. I'm about to do this on my JDM Rev3 Turbo with teh Gen3 engine and a custom exhaust... Hoping it goes smoothly.

For 3SGTE gen 2, 70amp and 80amp will fit through the top where the cruise control and diagnostic port is. 100amp won't fit through this spot, but maybe through fuse box.

Assuming it's the same procedure for the non-turbo model?

I believed u can remove it from the cc side.

Much harder with the aluminum alternater bracket.

Wow this is tough to do.

Good video BUT removal of the exhaust is a very cumbersome activity...for N/A cars I have seen shops take the alternator out upwards between the firewall and the intake manifold. Much easier.

Kenneth McAnally yes it is. But turbo alternator are bigger. I wish I can take it like u said. But sadly I can't
