- Jennifer spends her last day as an adult at work. Life at the hospital is hectic, not only due to lack of staff, but also because of some changes made to the hospital itself. Additionally, her last patient of the day ends up shocking both Jennifer and her staff with their symptoms.

also! boiling oil has automatic cash registers if that makes running the hospital a little easier. when a sim walks past them, they'll automatically pay for any items in their shopping bag.
i love how mary sue's scheming is so apparent that jennifer is just playing along with it. it's such a shame that angela isn't confident enough to step out of her mother's shadow.

omg that spreadsheet, it's amazing lmao, you're so organized. I'd love a tour of your strangetown and to hear what happened so far if you're ever up for it! The pharmacy is a great idea, the town looks great in general. I guess it makes no sense for jennifer to get a guy if she has no wishes about it, but a lot of the time i don't know what to do with a sim if they aren't going through the usual milestones, and when they retire they spend a lot of time with family, but that might not happen with jen since she isn't all that close to them. Maybe she would travel... and meet some nice people like that but i don't think you've added holiday destination to this hood yet. That newspaper is so cool, everyone in town can learn about all the important events in the area that way. Good way to add some drama too, like an alienated relative finding out about a wedding or baby through it only.
Haha aw thank you, Kalika 🥰 Sure I can give you a tour! That sounds like fun! Thank you, I think the pharmacy will work better than the previous setup. Yeah, with the absence of a partner and family, the lives of older sims do tend to get a bit monotone. I think that for Jennifer though, it'll be pretty much the same as it is now for as long as she keeps working (which will be for as long as she's physically able I'm sure 😂). Travelling is definitely an option, you're right, but no I haven't added the subhoods in yet. I might end up doing it at some point though (I've been considering giving Dina and Malcolm a holiday home on Twikkii Island 🤭). Thanks, it was a lot of work but having the newspaper in the hood is such a great feeling. Great point that people might ending up finding stuff out through it secondhand!

Haha well~ I was going to write you a long paragraph on it, but I also got a request to do a tour of my Strangetown so I think I'll do that instead. I will say though that it was very well deserved 🤭

I believe that at 36:00 you could also right-click on the column and get _Insert_ > _Table columns to the left_ This should keep the created column as part of the table.
The idea of a custom newspaper is freaking genius! The amount of detail you put into this is crazy, I'm blown away by how well this looks in the game.
As you were decorating the pharmacy, I could not help but think that a glass stand with an eyechart would suit there perfectly. And then eye check could be another thing that people with glasses come for🤓
Gotta be honest, this is so full of awesome ideas that you leave us no choice but to steal a couple of them for our own playthroughs 😅
Uh I really like your glasses idea! I personally often forget to give some sims glasses despite the fact that I wear them myself. To have a place for this event helps reminding myself that some sims 'need' them
I have to agree with Tonya, adding in glasses to the pharmacy is such a great idea. I too tend to forget to use them, but after a quick google, I have now learned that the majority (about 62-64% of people) need glasses which is a lot more than I thought 😱

They have been close friends since high school so I think Jen might take him a bit for granted at this point, and Don isn't one to push for more work, but he sure is very reliable and this could certainly end up becoming an eye-opener for her

Awesome video - glad you are back :) I am super interested in your spreadsheets, have you ever thought about making a video dedicated to the Sims spreadsheets you have and how you organise + monitor everything e.g medical career, crime, education, jobs etc. I know it would be a lot - but I (and im sure others) draw so much inspiration from you, and sometimes its tricky to find which videos that you talk about or show your spreadsheet lol! Cant wait for the next one!

Still watching the video - if your business uniform fix mod is the one that I use, it doesn't work the first time you set the uniform, but every other time the Sim arrives at work their face will be correct ❤

The pharmacy was great too. In order to flesh it out you could add some gifts and knick knacks too, like a hospital gift shop! Pharmacy's in Australia usually sell baby supplies, hats and gloves and scarves, mugs and photoframes, jewellery and makeup - so many things! (Still haven't actually finished this episode yet haha working my way through one treadmill half hour at a time 🤣🤣)
Pharmacy + massage table combo is genius! I might try that myself. I wonder if there's a white recolor to make it look more like a doctor's table.

I love your spreadsheets. I love that someone is as weird and invested in the game as I am. My notes app on my phone is filled with random neighborhood data and story line ideas. I always wonder how crazy it would look to our families or investigators if we were ever to die unexpectedly lol.
Your stories intrigue me so much. As soon as you started talking about Jennifer examining Bella I felt my ears perk up more and focusing. Like your storytelling is very exciting.
I can imagine Bella telling the night staff stories and freaking out Angela lol. As for Jennifer maybe she should find a romance sim for an unserious fling. I would always suggest Don but yes the relationship between them seems too serious now to enter anything lightheartedly. As you say she may be pretty content single as well.
I wonder if she has been feeling lonely or unfulfilled, worrying about her legacy or something. It seems she's been looking around for a connection and seen that Lucy was settled so she tried with Lilith but was rejected there. And now Angela her protege has seemed to have rejected her and that must hurt. The classic "folly of a strict fortune sim" would be that they work so hard they forget to nurture the other aspects of their lives and thus end up alone. I can't tell if this is the case for Jennifer though.

I think you're spot on that she's attempted to build connections with other young women in place of Lucy and from her feelings of loneliness. She's even close to Daniel's secret child Natalia Langerak (although she's as of yet unaware that the girl is her brother's). Folly of a strict fortune sim indeed. Jennifer has been married to her job all her adult life, and it shows.
For some reason I thought I had already seen this video, so it was a nice surprise to find out I hadn't and still had a new video to watch! So after spending all my day in Excel yesterday, I grabbed a hot chocolate and watched... you playing around with Excel! 😄🤓 That was so interesting and enjoyable to watch and you explained it so well. I think anyone would be able to reproduce the dashboard for their own game, whether they've done something like this before or not, if they follow along with these steps. I love that and there's so many great tips in there. 🥰 And I'm very inspired by it, so I just have to make something like that for my megahood now. 😄
I'm going to assume you work with data analysis for your job now too, judging from how quick you were with those last few parts. 😉Btw, have you ever used that rufio thing in SimPE to get the data out to Excel? It doesn't have the info about their eye, hair and skin color though, but it was such a game changer for creating a new spreadsheet when I found that out.
I also really liked the update you did at the beginning with the pictures, so thanks for taking us along on those events to wrap up the day. I never even realized it has been the same season since the beginning, but it will be nice to see the town in winter for sure. ❤ Nathan looks so much like his dad!

Haha Excel all around 😂 Yey I'm glad that you think I made it easy to follow, that's awesome ❤ Haha well, I'm a customer service team lead at a global company, which means I sort of have to solve everybody's problems and build up tasks in a comprehensive and easy-to-do way. So well yeah that has forced me to learn Excel 😅 Working in customer service really isn't what it used to be. Oooh wow what no I haven't ever heard of that! It sounds awesome, I've got to try it out 🤯 Thanks for telling me about that!

@@AniBats Ah, that makes a lot of sense too! In the projects that I do the team lead of the customer service is always one of the project members and I help them set up their workflows, checklists and dashboarding. Very rewarding part of the project, because aligning the definitions of what the company is selling with the questions that can occur at customer service makes both management happier and the customer service department more in charge of their work.
The rufio thing (maybe you already found it, but I wasn't very specific in my previous message 😄) is under Tools, Neighborhood and then Export Neighborhoods. It creates a folder called Rufio with all sim data and all lots data in a txt file, which you can import in Excel. It also exports all sim pictures and lot pictures. Haven't used that last part yet, but I could definitely see there being a use for it. Ooh... houses for sale in the newspaper! 😄🥰
Loved watching the chart setup, I did a similar thing for Veronaville so I'll ping you in my discord (though it seemed easier to do in google sheets...or so I thought, maybe my data is wrong😂). I'd love to see a tour of your Stragetown! The newspaper turned out amazing, such attention to detail. I think the pharmacy was a great idea too. With the nurses being off that day, it had me wondering, have you ever thought about changing any of the working hours of any career levels? I could easily help you out with that if you're ever interested. Can't wait to see what happens with Bella!

I still have my old drives in external adapters so I have access to all my old Sims stuff whenever I want, but yeah I just wanted to not transfer anything and start over with my downloads folder mainly, and start a new neighbourhood when I'm ready. I do hope to return to Veronaville one day but I'm not sure how different my CC will be.

It's an interesting idea, but I think that my Pleasantview series would drag down the speed of the Downtown series too much. One of the reasons why I feel like it's a good idea to have a second series running alongside Pleasantview is that it will be quicker and easier to make, so there will be more frequent uploads. Whereas the PV series relies a lot on time consuming planning and machinima scenes, so those uploads will be less frequent.

How’d you create the custom newspaper? 😱
1. I downloaded a newspaper default (I used Epi's): episims.tumblr.com/post/679812708176134144/newspaper-default-replacement
2. I followed the steps in Tea Addict's tutorial on how to recolor objects: czcams.com/video/QgJWLSBRVKQ/video.htmlsi=fTnYSyBB0hHNXl5C only that I didn't create a new recolor, I simply swapped out the textures in the original package. So I extracted the original texture and used it as a base to build my own newspaper in Gimp. Then I imported those new texture images instead and added the file into my downloads folder 😊
Besides your incredible mastery of spreadsheets and your impressive micromanagement skills, how do you come up with such creative plot ideas? I’m referring to Bella having healing abilities, or Angela being forced by Mary Sue to take up a job elsewhere. Do you already have a full story in mind, or do you improvise?
Aw thank you so much, Paolo, you're so sweet 🥰❤ Since I've been playing with this hood for years now, and since I'm also putting more effort into it while making the videos, I tend to think about it a lot. It's sort of grown into a web in my head at this point, so when I pull at a string somewhere, another part of the web moves. That allows me to improvise some things in the moments while other things are planned. Some things have been in the works for years, while others are far more recent. It's kind of like writing a book, but using other kinds of storytelling media - it really is so much fun ❤

Oooh that's tricky but such a fun question! I think the most important thing is taking things very slow and spending time with the sims, observing how they interract throughout the day and trying to interpret that. Also I have found that playing active careers has helped A LOT in making the whole hood feel more alive, and thus also the stories of the individual sims. Take the example of Angela, as you mentioned earlier: I don't think I would have ever come up with the idea of her career struggles if I didn't actually play with the hospital and see how she interracted in that space with her collegues. Similarly, I have found that playing with apartment buildings can help a lot too, because it will force the sims living in the same complex to interract regularly. I doubt that I would have gone down the path of Lilith and Ricky having an affair if I hadn't seen them interract and get closer as neighbours. I suppose bringing different sims together in groups for reasons that make sense in general will give you lots of material to work with 😊

If you were so kind to reply, I'd have one last (perhaps tricky) question: this main series is about Pleasantview, and recently you have started a Let's Play of Downtown; both these neighborhoods come pre-made in ghe game, with their Sims and lots, which you beautifully renovated but still had to start with. However, I would like to, well, start a new *empty* hood from scratch, creating my own lore, Sims, and buildings.
My question is: If you had to start a new neighborhood from a completely blank state, how do you think you would set up your gameplay? Which lots would you build first? And how would you create some "lore" at the beginning?
I know it's a difficult question, and I don't expect you to reply :) Thank you again for your content and all your amazing gameplay!
That is a very good question - sadly I don't have a good answer to give you because it's something I'm struggling with myself. I can tell you what hasn't worked for me:
1. Creating too many families in the same life stage. It'll become very boring moving from household to household because even though the individual sims are dissimilar, they are doing mostly the same things.
2. Playing too long in a hood without proper community lots. It makes the town feel very small and it's difficult to have the sims organically meet each other and start to build friend groups. A good variety of community lots is worth the effort and helps mixing up the gameplay.
3. Building big, expensive houses and moving the families in at once. It removes the struggle, even if it is aestetically pleasing. A mix between rich, mid and poor househoulds is good to keep a good variety. ^
I think that the best way to go about creating a custom hood is probably the same way you would go about writing a novel. There has to be some sort in intrigue - some reason why you are playing in that particular neighborhood and those particular families. One of the things that make people come back again and again to Pleasantview and Strangetown, I believe, is the strong plotline and backstory in that hood. It makes it exciting to keep building the story.
Let me know if you come up with a good answer to this question, I would love to hear it, because I have a lot to learn when it comes to custom hoods and making them exciting ❤😂
