I like how many people who've never been to any Eastern Asian countries automatically assume that every centimeter of let's say korea/Japan is spotlessly clean and models walk around on the streets because that's what media shows yall.
Well in that case how is that their fault? Yes there’s a good and bad side to every country, most people should know that already, doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate the good
@@ginamoten2285 that’s not what they’re saying tho. They never said you can’t appreciate the good…they’re saying people assume that Korea and Japan is glitter and gold that everything is perfect when it’s not.
@@ginamoten2285 tldr: my point is that some people are delusional regarding that matter and building up non existent expectations of absolutely unrealistic standards. Never said yall can't appreciate pretty things. Sure, go ahead idm because honestly I do too. What I do not like however is people being delusional about certain countries situations etc. Literally, a once close friend of mine told me that "Korea has the prettiest people, all Japanese are ugly and Chinese don't have chins." I asked her why and she replied "Because all people in Kdrama look like that. All Artists and Authors of Mangas look like that. I've seen a few Chinese people with no jawline, like you" (yes, I have a really soft face shape, I like it tho.) Like some people literally go around thinking that Japan and Korea are all beauty and sparkles as following comment says while absolutely disregarding and ignoring the fact that media only shows us the good side of things if it's about shows, kdrama, whatever. And that snowballs into people having insane expectations of, for example, looks and face when it comes to beauty. Yes, pale skin is a beauty standard in a lot of eastern Asian countries. And many people for some reason believe that most Eastern Asian people are born with that porcelain skin which just is not true - most Eastern Asian are blessed with somewhat darker, gold toned skin - which is not bad. Only some have pale skin, others use the MAGIC OF MAKEUP WHICH IS A WHOLE NOTHER TOPIC blablabla idek where I am right now also another thing I'm salty about which doesn't have much to do with this is that a lot of the same people who now glorify eastern Asian ppl used to be the ones mocking us for our eye shape, food, culture, etc. very funny. very, very funny.
@@banyani4048 i don't think it's that big of an issue, i mean, if ur not interested in living/working/studying in the country, you'll only get to know about it through the media, and eventually learn about the good and bad sides, as you said, they create 'expectations' and those are gonna break someday, it's just a matter of time. but actually i agree that the way they talk about others (both countries n people) is wrong wrong, mocking other cultures just bcs they're different is the worst, i really hope that can change soon... if as a mexican i've experienced racism and discrimination, i can't imagine how bad things were (and still are) for asians ):
I’ve been to both Japan and Korea, I’m Singaporean and I’ve pretty much been to most of the Asian countries. Japan is the cleanest out of all of them. I’ve also travelled to Western countries, London is surprisingly super clean compared to New York which both felt similar to me.

I can confirm that this is the best part about going on a road trip in Korea! The bathrooms are super clean and convenient, you could literally order MEALS at every stop, some places have souvenirs depending where you are, parking isn't an issue because it's quite spacious. Honestly, even if you don't need to fill up on gas, stopping by to just buy snacks on the go is an absolute must!!!
One of my favourite memories as a kid was the practically annual trip my family did for medical reasons from our hometown to Rome, we would wake up at 3 am and had the whole travel in the car, I would sleep and then wake up when we would stop at a gas stop and we would all have breakfast with a caffelatte or cappuccino with a chocolate filled cornetto... So good, I miss those days
That sounds so nice! My memories are the opposite. While everyone gorged themselves on specialties that used to be unavailable outside of Italy I always had to pass. 😭Those serpentines already hit me hard enough on an empty stomach.🤢😵 Nowadays I take the train instead, problem solved.

A typical Dutch gas station serves ice cream snacks ect but one of the most typical Dutch dishes there is a frikandel broodje Made with pastry like dough with ketchup curry sauce in it then the frikandel. A frikandel is a sausage made from left over scrap meat some times even horse meat (horse meat is not often eaten in my country)
Gas stops in the US (or at the very least, in AZ) are so boring compared to this. We also have hot food, but it is usually on something called a "roller grill." Basically, every morning, hot dogs, bratwurst, and these toquito thingies are put on the grill and then they are left there until the next day. The only time they are good is up to 2 hours of being on the grill. Like every gas stop anyone has ever been to, there are shelves that have chips and candy, sometimes toys, too. But the ones I have been to even stuff like pet food, instant ramen, dehydrated meals for 1, car accessories, and other stuff that I can't think of rn. There are also refrigerated foods like sandwiches, salads, parfaits sometimes, and like string cheese. I don't like the salads tho cuz they're always wilted and boring. As for the drinks, there is a pretty good selection usually. There is water, obviously, sports drinks, soda, juice, and alcohol usually. There are also soda fountains which are these machines that have sever nozels at the bottom and each one dispenses a different soda. I'm sure they're in Korea, too. Probably not the cup sizes tho lmao, I never get the largest one. Its like 50oz or something like that. I usually get 20oz if I get soda, but usually I just get tea or Gatorade
Gas stations in America serve food poisoning. Everyone knows you never eat the hotdogs unless it's your only option and it never is. So just don't eat food that was cooked at the gas station. Unless it's like Casey's and in that case their food is pretty good. There pizza and doughnuts and coffee and other baked goods so🤷🏻♀️

When Korea has better food at a gas station than a restaurant
I love the rest stops in Korea. Best places. One place I went had fresh jjajangmyeon with hand pulled noodles at it.
I will always be in awe at how much food my Asian relatives eat and stay not thin but SKINNY
Being an asian is not proportional to you can eat anything and remain skinny..asian insider😅
As a Southeast Asian, I don't know about the others, but even when I eat it looks like I never gain weight
And in the Indian Subcontinent it feels like even drinking water is making you gain weight

UGH I NEED TO GO TO KOREA
Honestly, in all my travels, the markets/ small stands / small restaurants are always my favorite. You’re truly out amongst the locals, you rlly get a feel of the place you’re in, & the food is so good!
totally agree! the mom and pop/family owned stalls and small restaurants are some of the best as well because they've been doing it for so long! and market stalls are bomb too, especially night markets. They sell cute trinkets you can take home as souvenirs too! and you're right, the local feeling you get being in those areas is surreal!
@@bwingbwinggwiyomi well said! It really is an experience that cannot be missed ^_^

Korea: has tteokbokki, and other nice foods at gas stations
America: has snacks like Cheetos, airheads, and soda at gas stations
Edit: ty for the likes
I think a large part of it is culture and the Western diet. I wish America prioritized health and nutrition.
can’t forget the taco trucks😭
That’s when you go get your gas at Buckey’s. Also korean gas stations have Cheetos and soda too lol
@@ariellee9036 Teokbokki is not exactly healthy for you.. lol and I think health is subjective to each person. I haven’t consumed any trash artificial foods in years after I found out where the the artificial flavoring comes from.
My gas station in America has food too , they sell chicken , fries , gizzards , biscuits etc

That looks soooo good!
“what does your gas stop serve?”

Obesity isn’t that bad unless you’re unhealthy and have horrible diabetes
I've seen a few Chinese people with no jawline, like you" (yes, I have a really soft face shape, I like it tho.)
Like some people literally go around thinking that Japan and Korea are all beauty and sparkles as following comment says while absolutely disregarding and ignoring the fact that media only shows us the good side of things if it's about shows, kdrama, whatever.
Only some have pale skin, others use the MAGIC OF MAKEUP WHICH IS A WHOLE NOTHER TOPIC blablabla idek where I am right now
also another thing I'm salty about which doesn't have much to do with this is that a lot of the same people who now glorify eastern Asian ppl used to be the ones mocking us for our eye shape, food, culture, etc. very funny. very, very funny.
I love that you’re doing this with your mom now ❤

my local gas stop sells dry bread and camping chairs
“What do gas stops in your country serve?”
“Oh yk, some chips, maybe artificial pizza here or there”
I can confirm that this is the best part about going on a road trip in Korea! The bathrooms are super clean and convenient, you could literally order MEALS at every stop, some places have souvenirs depending where you are, parking isn't an issue because it's quite spacious. What does your gas station serve?
Me: gas, oli, vending machine food, car tires
In Korea this is normal its good bc when you are driving for a long time you can eat there
One of my favourite memories as a kid was the practically annual trip my family did for medical reasons from our hometown to Rome, we would wake up at 3 am and had the whole travel in the car, I would sleep and then wake up when we would stop at a gas stop and we would all have breakfast with a caffelatte or cappuccino with a chocolate filled cornetto...
So good, I miss those days
I love Italy! that must be so fun to just road trip around Italy too, I'd like to do something similar one day!
What is your hometown? I’m currently staying in Milan.
I'm jealous of all of you 🙁 in a good way 😁
Quasi lo stesso per me, ma andavamo dalla Verona fino alla Calabria, solamente per il mare e il cibo. Mamma quanto amo la ‘nduja…
That sounds so nice! My memories are the opposite. While everyone gorged themselves on specialties that used to be unavailable outside of Italy I always had to pass. 😭Those serpentines already hit me hard enough on an empty stomach.🤢😵
Nowadays I take the train instead, problem solved.
The fact your mom is with you almost every time is wholesome to me. She seems to support you

even the food from the Korean gas stops is on the spot PERFECT. clean service and surfaces. It isn't usually the same in other western parts where you first enter grubby floors, horrible tables and questionable food.
She's so cute when she eats. I like her videos so much.
A typical Dutch gas station serves ice cream snacks ect but one of the most typical Dutch dishes there is a frikandel broodje
Made with pastry like dough with ketchup curry sauce in it then the frikandel.
Yeah I've been getting really jealous of other countries because their convenience stores look so much better compared to the U.S😭

Gas stations in America serve food poisoning. Everyone knows you never eat the hotdogs unless it's your only option and it never is. So just don't eat food that was cooked at the gas station.
