Ideal for short and long walks alike. Plenty of interesting and beautiful countryside to explore including quaint Bedfordshire villages with pubs and local amenities nearby. Easy to access from the M1. Point of concern: The car parks felt very safe and secure during the day time, however, during the evening there was a lot of 'activity', we deliberately avoided the area and chose somewhere else to camp that was well and truly out of the way, out of sight and sound. We did camp on a Friday night, might not be the same on another weekday. Where possible, always follow the Wild Camping principles and avoid sticking out like a sore thumb. Pitch up late, pack away early and always Leave No Trace.

Now that's the way a hike should be. Beautiful scenery, a nice leisurely pace, and wonderful pub to rest in for a meal and beverages. Great job, Ladies.

Some absolutely stunning views there Rachel. Definitely a good idea to be away from the evening activity. Thanks for sharing.

Funny name but still a real nice walk and in good weather too, a rarity this year for sure! I hope those cows were behind a fence and I love a cheese and onion sarnie! Funny after all that rain and then a bit of sun how all the vegetation had all of a sudden gone wild but loved the buttercups. No wonder you were tired, especially with the additional 2 miles and a cheeky pink and meal at the Carpenters Arms would not have helped either lol, cheers Alan

The cows were well behaved. More interested in eating grass, than us ramblers. The pub was a welcomed break. We wouldn’t normally stay in a pub for that long during a walk but with the longer days, we treated ourselves x

It’s a good walk. A bit overgrown in places and a few muddy sections. Definitely one for the drier months but lovely. I’d recommend starting in Harlington. Finish with a pub stop.

Great chilled hike, I’m fortunate that I Live about 20 mins away from Sharpenhoe. If you enjoyed walking in that area I would recommend Pegsdon Hills and the fantastic views from Deacon Hill.

I know it well. I did a walk that way last year and spotted the infamous black squirrels! 🤨

That was absolutely brilliant Rachael and Stef what a lovely little adventure well filmed and edited.
Yes I checked it out on the map and it’s amazing how much countryside you can find in what looks like a crowded area.

Great little hike, camp + pub break.
Is there a meaning behind the name 'Shaprenhoe Clappers'? Just curious as it's unusual.

Yeah I believe it was a Bronze Age fort, I’m sure there’s plenty of information online about it. It’s a cracking area for a walk. ☺️
