Should You Brush & Floss At The Same Time? Waterpik Sonic Fusion 2.0 Review!

  • The Waterpik Sonic Fusion 2.0 is the latest flossing toothbrush on the market. Dr Nemeth strongly recommends the Waterpik to all of our patients, but does the Waterpik toothbrush do as good of a job?
The Sonic Fusion combines the power of an electric toothbrush with the effectiveness of the water flosser. It claims to be 2X as effective for removing plaque vs regular brushing and flossing.
This toothbrush is certainly fun to use and does a pretty good job at cleaning, Dr Nemeth does recommend brushing and using the traditional waterpik separately for effective results.

I think the claim of "easy to hold" is meant to differentiate this from the kind where the water tank is part of the unified handheld device. Some Waterpik models were like that as well as Tuski and other off-brands. But I understand your "Aren't they all?" reaction.

I was too. My only thought is that a dentist is probably more willing to spend additional time on their teeth than me lol. 😂 so as someone who isn't going to do all these things separately and barely flosses, I'm thinking it could be more beneficial to me as a lazy person

@@lindsaysmith4486. I got it and it works perfect but using a lot of pressure like the doctor here will empty the water reservoir before you're done brushing, at level 4 or 5 you'll get more than plenty of pressure and it will last you the whole 2 minute timer so you'll be done brushing and flossing at the same time.

This waterpick is perfect especially when you're in a hurry brush and floss in 2 minutes but it takes practice the 2 minute timer and 30 seconds intervals so you can move from one area of the mouth makes it easy the only con is that if you set the pressure over 4 you're going to run out of water before you're done brushing and flossing your whole mouth but you can always add more warm water and complete the whole process assuming you want heavy duty pressure.

Same here I tried 7 but it seemed like too much unnecessary pressure between 4 and 5 is perfect for me and the water in the reservoir will last the 2 minutes so you're done brushing and flossing at the same time mine actually came with 10 brush heads I bought on sale from Costco for only 110 dollars.

@@CJLinOHIO . I live in southern California and I just noticed this device about 4 months ago, I'm guessing that like everything else it was more expensive when it first came out, Walmart had it for 150 same as Costco but only 2 brush heads, because I knew Costco would eventually have it at sale price as soon as I saw it for 110 I bought it having 10 brush heads means you don't have to worry about buying new brushes for over 2 years, it pays to be a Costco member.

I've since have been maintaing my oral hygiene to a high standard to avoid painful dentist visit... do you think it's appropriate to use this during my frequent evaluation? Or stick to brushing and flossing separately. Your review was the best I could find. I'm due in Sept for cleaning #3, and I have yet to inquire about the waterpik products.

I have purchased and used this waterpik sonic fusion flossing toothbrush for 6 months. Then switched to sonic toothbrushing and waterpik flosser separately. I do not feel comfortable with the combination flossing toothbrush. For one, the handle gets wet and slippery. I have dropped the brush a few times while brushing or banged my teeth with a vibrating toothbrush. I prefer to concentrate on each task-brushing & flossing- separately.

I’ve been reading up on using mouthwash and they’re saying it’s not good because it depletes the nitric oxide in your body which isn’t good for your vascular system, as you get older your body produces only about 15% by the time you reach about 60 years old. This can lead to heart attacks or strokes. I guess the interior of your arteries need this NO gas. I was wondering if you ever did a video on this subject.

It seems like this would wash out the toothpaste before the fluoride has even done its job. I prefer to floss and waterpik first, then use my toothbrush. This way all the food crumbs are cleaned out, and the toothpaste gets right in there and touches all parts of the cleaned teeth.

Is actually more expensive to by a quality electric toothbrush like the Sonic care and a good water flosser separately you're looking at about 175 dollars bought separately, the Sonic fusion 2.0 is 150 dollars at Costco and if you wait for it to be on sale is only 110 dollars and it comes with 10 brush heads instead of 2 is a real steal, brush heads for the Sonic care toothbrush are pretty expensive.

promoting this thing as a "flosser" borders on malpractice and relies on the stupidity of the consumer. The only thing that is a flosser is FLOSS! if using a jet of water really worked, I would have been washing my car without scrubbing or using a sponge. The plaque has to be loosened and then rinsed away This thing does not do that no matter how they want to rebrand it.
