She's not fit to crew as an astronaut if she's willing to take that risk for other people's lives while she's sick. She's an Air Force aviator, she should be proud of that.
Boooooooo it’s a show. She’s concerned about having privacy while she figures out her physical condition.
It's a show. House isn't fit to be a doctor but here we are.
Lol chill out, not only because this is a show, even in real life, its naive to think all astronauts are responsible, selfless people.
@@joesr31 🤣😅
@@joesr31 To be fair, early days astronauts were almost all test pilots, who are not chosen for their ability to play well with others. (Source: related to test pilot, for my sins).
For everyone saying it's ridiculous that she burst into flames... yes, it is a little silly. But they were in a hyperbaric chamber, so the atmosphere was at or near 100% oxygen-- everything is going to combust much more easily, and burn brighter and hotter.
Don't mess around with oxygen.
In the early days of the space program, Nasa learned that the hard way. My respects to the people who are willing to risk their lives to further science.

I love that evidently somewhere in this world they've created there's like a medical forum where all people do is talk about House and how to make him take your case lol. The fact that she knows exactly what to do and what to say to make him interested has me rolling.
I always found it funny in the show that house is *essentially* a little bit of a celebrity for how unhinged he is
That's so funny😂
@@ungabunga7879 It reminds me of the character off of which House is greatly based, Sherlock Holmes. :D
Well I've seen quite a few university micro-forums (in terms of ratemyprof comment sections, subreddits, or discord servers) where all people do is talk about professors and how to get them to take you as their grad students or into their labs.
So this isn't really that unthinkable. If you can get "Prof X is a bit of a sexist, likes girls with initiatives, and hates it when you use acronyms" in universities, you can probably find something comparable about a world-renowned specialist who saves people's lives from otherwise unthinkably difficult medical cases.
My mom had been sick for years, she wished House was real so bad so that he could help her. She died in my 20s, my MiL got MS a few yrs ago-hers is more brain than rest of body and how she acts is extremely similar to my mom, so I think she may of had MS with chronic pain. They went from “I hear from the eyes” to “metabolic issues”
I have "metabolic issues". It is extreme high blood pressure that doesn't respond well to blood pressure medicines. Turns out we need to eat things to live and those things do various things in our body from making funny noises to quantum tunneling into self awareness.

Not a single astronaut candidate would willingly subject a crew to that kind of risk if they're that sick. They would know that they put the entire crew and mission in danger. The tend to weed out people with character failings like that.

@@curlyhairdudeify I don't think you grasp the level of psychological evaluation they are subjected to for selection. You can be the smartest and strongest person on the planet. Ur also not suppose to be married to another astronaut while flying with NASA but 2 astronauts got married and waited until the last minute to tell nasa. @@thepsychicspoon5984Calm down buddy this is about becoming an astronaut. This would happen to anyone in any country
The fact that she was willing to put her fellow (potential) astronauts in mortal danger for the sake of her own selfish pride kind of proves that she shouldn’t be in the program to begin with.
I went to graphic design school and in one of our foundational art classes, one of my classmates was a guy with synesthesia. He could see colors when hearing things. So he painted memories in colors based on what he heard.
I love how he just looked at her and said "I think shes having a heart attack.." and she says "no, i just feel a little funny" and faints right afterwards
To be fair, female heart attacks can and usually do have different symptoms than the usual ones-and a lot of them are things women tend to ignore as a every day type of thing. A lot don't even get the arm tingle or chest pain. I know 2 women who have had heart attacks and didn't know it till a later time in the ER. My mom who was a pill popper with constant pain, and an extremely healthy mom who went camping and hiking all the time. Neither had no clue.
She is being responsible by going to get treated, it's just the desperation of doing it under the books that makes it looks bad
But she wasn't doing it to be responsible, or because it would be the right thing, it's because she knew she had to deal with it, and was willing to put other people and missions at risk to meet her ambitions.
@@pinkCEO i mean, she was assuming it was an acute condition, not a genetic disorder. if she could have gotten it fixed once and for all no one would have been at risk. the only problem is that it's not acute, it's something she'll have to live with and get periodically treated for the rest of her life. which is why House told NASA the truth once he had a diagnosis
@@zilesis1 This. No fault for wanting to find out what it was on the down low and resolve it without NASA knowing. Once she knew it would be something that would disqualify her, she had to deal with the idea of losing out on her dream, and that's not an easy thing to face. Typical grieving process...denial, anger, etc.
Doesn't matter if it's denial, doesn't matter if it's desperation - she didn't care about being qualified she just cared about doing it, no matter the cost in excessively manipulative fashion, primarily manipulating mission oversight
Wanting treatment discreetly and pre-emptively is one thing, wanting it hidden and lied about and to continue the path anyway, is not good in any light
I never realized the patient who had to take care of his younger siblings and denied treatment was reused as a doctor
Wait who?
No, different actors. Guy with the siblings had round eyes, bigger nose and prominent cupids bow. This one has smaller features overall and almond shaped eyes.
Wondering why nobody seems to worry about how they always just up and search their patient's houses without permission.
Probably bcz it's a TV show not to he taken seriously, idk.
Did they ever go into a home only to find a roommate or other family still in the house?
Well one person does not decide the safety of a crew. Got to love that she thought that a unique case would shut House up. You're cured and you think that others are not allowed to take your place??
It did shut house up. He lied about divulging it, she's in the clear to become an astronaut.
She’s worried about the doctors seeing a scar that will tell them she’s had surgery, but not worried that the same doctors who most likely have examined her multiple times in the past, aren’t going to notice a massive burn mark that she never had before! Yeah she’s of sound mind and is making sense.
And Kutner was lucky he didn’t take all three of them out and cause the whole oxygen chamber to explode when he used the paddles to restart her heart. He didn’t seem to bothered he set her on 🔥 but was proud of himself for restarting her heart.🤦🏽♀️🤣
A burn probably wouldn't disqualify her, I'm sure she could've come up with some kind of excuse. Somebody threw hot coffee at her or something.
a burn is probably easier to explain away as a non-medical issue or accident than a surgical incision. Or is she going to say someone came at her with a knife and it happened to leave the same type of cut you'd get from a lung biopsy?
Also Taub can fix the burn scar. He is a plastic surgeon
You know what's funny about that? He didn't restart her hart. Defibrillator can only be used to fix irregular heart beat, it can not start a heart that has stopped. And I've never seen a tv show that uses them the right way, it's actually rather annoying.
I highly doubt that the whole chamber would 'explode'. Oxygen does not just explode with nothing else to react with. Oxygen requires some form of fuel in order to combust. And the only fuels in there would be fabric.

Well at least we know she shouldn't be an astronaut...its like giving a drivers license to an epileptic because she only has occasional seizures. A seizure is going to happen and if happens on the road the liability is huge. She could kill someone. I work in a field(security) where my own career is stunted by the fact I have an illness I can't cure(even though its considered in remission). It's hard to accept, but you have too. Those guidelines are in place for a reason. In my case I can't be approved to carry a gun on the job...that limits me from most supervisory positions. It's a myth that security guards can't use lethal force...they can, in many places.
But if it's controlled then someone has an unexpected breakthrough after many years of treatment?
Atleast here security needs a special license to be able to use a firearm

Is synesthesia really THAT uncommon of a symptom to intrigue House of all doctors?
I think so. Only one of my doctors knows what it is, and is actually interested enough to learn all he can about it. I generally don't mention it to my "medical team" except when it's really necessary for them to know.
Synesthesia is rare with 2% of the population having it. Even certain types of synesthesia are even more rare. I have mirror-touch synesthesia, which appears in only 1.6% of the general population.

0:45 what really sucks it that she's right. Despite being a "friendly Army" (or military in general), if someone has medical issues, they will be held back.
I know a lot of college students who are going to commission, but to get medically cleared they had to "not tell the whole truth" about things like surgery, emotions, mental subjects that would otherwise keep them from getting into the military. That is one of the many reasons why military soldiers are Messed Up while in and out of the military.
