Tyvokka wearing full Jedi robes makes me think clothes for Wookies were the norm, and Chewie & Gungi were just freaks.
Robot chicken said this almost 20 years ago
Fun fact. Chewbacca means "brave brother." While "brave sister" would be "Aribacca" "acca" meaning brave. So "acca" is actually a title. Not sure what "Tyv" means but Tyvacca holds the title of Brave.
Thats cool. I always figured they were just supposed to be variants or references to Bacca, the mythological/historical Wookie hero.
Very cool. I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing 👍
I can actually speak wookie." Aaaaaahhrrrrrnnnaaarrraahhh"
For once, I read a "Fun Fact" comment and actually got a fun fact instead of something horrible.
Tyvokka with "okka" being the title part. Similar sound but different spelling. You can see it in the comic panels with Plo. But does make one wonder the meaning. Maybe something about intellect or force sensitivity.
I wish there were more Wookiee’s like him. Having a Wookiee be a Jedi is such a rare occurrence in the Jedi order
That's the point. If there were more they wouldn't be rare.
@@williamparcell9197 lol fax tho
We could still see more of Gungi in The bad batch. I Think it's possible he could show up to repay the favor, maybe even with a master🤔
We don’t know who his master though
In the new republic book series that’s been coming out the last few years there is a younger Jedi name Buryaga (something like that) a decent character so far but honestly they haven’t done much with the character.
Tyvokka would have been invaluable if he was with Windu when arresting Palpatine
Palps would have been solod for sure
Unfortunate that he was unable to forsee Gunrays' betrayal.
It seems that he could sense major future events through the Force, but he either could've sense or simply overlooked smaller events. I take this to mean that events on a galactic scale was his focus. As a servant of the Living Force, maybe he was always destined to guide and teach others rather than be at the center of conflict.
I wonder if Tyvoka's death was heavily on Qui-Gon's mind when he first met Anakin. When Anakin makes Qui-Gon for a Jedi after seeing his "laser sword", Qui-Gon offers the possibility that he killed a Jedi and stole it from him. Anakin enthusiastically expresses his doubt and says that "no one can kill a Jedi". Qui-Gon is impressed by Anakin's perceptiveness and apparently great respect for the Jedi, but he sadly smiles and replies, "I wish that were so".
It's easy to imagine that Qui-Gon has seen many of his fellow Jedi die in battle, but fact that Tyvoka died in an attack on a Jedi delegation involving Nute Gunray and the Trade Federation probably left some wounds that were re-opened when Gunray tried to kill Qui Gon and Obi Wan on Darth Sidious' orders. Qui-Gon was one of the Jedi saved by Tyvoka's actions and bravery. He no doubt frequently felt guilt over his rocky relationship with Tyvoka prior to his death. Having just survived another attempt on his and Obi Wan's lives by the Trade Federation, the memory of Tyvoka's death was probably weighing heavily on Qui Gon's mind again. It seems likely that Tyvoka was foremost on Qui Gon's mind when he gave his somber response to Anakin's comment.
Interesting.
Qui Gon had also lost other friends, including Tahl, a fellow Jedi he fell in love with, and not long before episode i, theyd lost another good friend in Anoon Bondara and Micah Giett, so I think losing so manty friends in a short space of time was likely weighing heavily on Qui gon's mind at the time
Sometimes it's just the reality of death man don't look too close it's the same colors
If what you propose were true. Wouldn't his death have been the will of the force? Him stopping Skywalker from being accepted and him sensing his darkness and fear. He would have stopped the chosen one from fulfilling the prophecy. So his death could've been the will of the force.
Considering Gunreys involvement, did Palpatiene or Plaigus have a hand in Master Taivakas death?
I think the two reasons Tyvokka didn't like Qui-Gon Jinn was because he knew Dooku, and for saw Jinn's Death and all the problems that would come of it.
It makes me exstremely suspecious that Darth Sidious and Plagus had a hand in his death. Just like with Qui-gon, Sidious needed him out of the way, and Mewt Gunray targeting Tywokka as the first Jedi may be a cuinsidence, but knowing they Sith, they have a hand in many things
What is a quinsidence?
@juicemilton114 Now I sacrifice his heart for your grama policing (I'm actually a bit bitter about it). It was late when I wrote it and the c sounds like a q to me
@@mr.boomguy hell even edited it’s still spelled wrong, but at least you got closer. 😂💪🏾 Rock on! Any lover of The Force is a friend of mine. No coincidence needed. 💯
@@juicemilton114 Alright. Glad you're a friendly guy. It was late when I wrote my first comment, then early when I edited it. I won't chance it any further, but in case you didn't know, you lose the heart of the video creator when you edit your comment, and it's really stupid and annoying. I forgive you, but I was really bitter because it was a bit priced to me (every heart on yt kinda is to me) and I should've realized myself what I was doing. Anyway, I wish you a great day✌
Since Plo Koon is in my top 3 CW Republic Jedi, I find his master to be great and want to learn even more about him! 😊😊
Was really hoping Tyvokka was going to be the Wookiee jedi in the Acolyte series. Him training with Plo Koon would be so sweet to see on screen and I am pretty sure he was a lot bigger than most other Wookiees towering over Chewbaca.
I love wookiee Jedi they are so cool
As powerful and prescient as Tyvoka sounds, it is going a little too far to say that he would have sensed the darkness in Anakin and thus prevent Anakin from joining the Jedi Order. Sensing the darkness in Anakin wasn't exactly a great feat. Pretty much all of the council members could sense it. Qui Gon was unique in his ability to commune with the Living Force and trust his insight, which told him to look past the obvious peril of training Anakin. Qui Gon was unorthodox, but the other Jedi Council members trusted his judgement enough to give Anakin a chance. Tyvoka's ability to see the future might have been among the strongest in the Order, but he also seems very dogmatic like most of the other Council members. It's difficult to imagine Tyvoka being the tipping point against allowing Anakin to be trained.
How did Newt Gunray get away with killing a Jedi Council member and the attempted murder of a number of other Jedi????
This was YEARS before the Clone Wars!
author writing that's how
they were protecting him at the time, and it was a genuine mistake brought about by panic. Unfortunately, Tyvokka would have been a great help as the galaxy grew darker
@@bloodlove93 well touché 😂😂😂
“Could defeat Master Yoda”
“Dies to a squad of battle droids and pirates”
would of sensed anakins dark energy and been able to prevent order 66, yet couldnt forsee betrayal by a bunch of intergalactic used car salesmen.......
I’m thinking a wookie sith lord would be a nightmare.
Gungi is still in play😂
Darthbacca
I hate that a lot of Star Wars has been reduced to, "This person is said to be the only one who could defeat this person!"
Great video!
Lets take this a step further, Sidious set it all up knowing these things about the Jedi to trap and kill them
Holy fucking core memory. Thank you for reminding me of one of my favorite characters.
Precognition... Anakin had something similar to this that brought Bout the destruction of the whole Old Republic an that era of Jedi too isn't it?? Such abilities shoulda been sought out an thise with them trained carefully if so. Taibacca ALSO coulda perhaps detected that Palps was the Sith they was looking for then too an perhaps coudla seen just whatd kept Anakin firmly on the Jedi side as much likely as voted against hia joining. Since he was the sorta Jedi alot, maybe most like, Qui Gon which woulda been the perfect sorta Master to reach an teach Anakin. Knowing how best to control him, understand him an when necessary step back an literally unleash him when diplomacy failed
Mad Respect to this Badass Wookie Jedi
Tyvokka is one of my fave jedi in the Old Jedi Order and i even loved his curved lightsaber. I even made my black series mod figure of Master Tyvokka.
So Nute Gunray does this and Qui Gon and Kenobi just think that the Naboo Trade negotiations will be swift? Thats back writing for you.
Would love to see more of Tyvokka great video
Clearly they understood what is meant by "Let the Wookiee win"
Plot Koon is my favorite Jedi. Didn't know his master was a wookie. Great video
Love your channel! Thank you for sticking with the lore and not getting caught up in bickering and politics like other popular Star Wars channels. THIS is the content we love to see.
Hell yeah dude, agree 100%
Newt gunray was the most satisfying character death i've ever seen in any franchise ever
Good video sir. Keep it up.
You had me at yellow lightsaber.
The glaring thing I don’t like about Tyvokka lore is the fact for what it does for Plo Koon: the thought that Plo Koon was only a learner mere years before the attack on Naboo doesn’t bode well for me.. I like to think Plo is a couple hundred years old.
This comic took place about 52 BBY I believe, which would have put it many years before the events of Naboo. Also, the comic implied that Plo Koon was already a Jedi Master and was addressing Tyvokka as a peer by the time these events were playing out. Hope this helps!
he isn't his student anymore, plo and tyvokka are hundreds of years old at this point which means that tyvokka trained plo koon waaay before this comic... plo addresses him as master out of repsect not because he is a padawan here
Thank you. That was great
I KNEW that Gungi couldn't be the only one! I remember you saying that Master Kina Ha was the only Kaminoan Jedi, but what about Tra Saa? Was she the only Jedi of her species?
There is another Neti Jedi, Ood Bnar, who lived from the time of the Great Sith War and was still around when the reborn Palpatine attacked the Rebellion six years after Endor.
@@TheHiddenFear gotta find them now. Thank you.
@@ericblue5436 the tales of the jedi comics and dark empire are where you need to look
He’s kind of cool but my opinion of Nute Gunray has dropped pass bedrock. He should have been executed for what he did there alone.
Yes, this was very enjoyable.
I would like to see this made a series
New favorite character. I didn't think anyone could replace Darth Bane(books) for me. Absolutely beautiful
i
remember reading this comic
Great character. I wish there is more with him.
Love the wookies!!
I’d love seeing more Wookie Jedi
I would like a video on the Jedi Exile please
6:55
Tyvokka: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
I would like to know more about revan in his earlier years as a Palawan and growing up threw the years in the old republic.
5:24 man qui-gon is a smug lil bastard here.
In Legends Chewbacca had a stutter and that's why his voice rippled the way it did
I'd assume that the curve in his lightsaber has more to do with the natural curve of that particular piece of wood that he used than a specific stylistic choice, but maybe I'm wrong.
So many keep talking about how Tyvacca couldn't see the betrayals that lead to his death before they happened. Perhaps Tyvacca saw his death as the best possible outcome for the future and decided to go along with it?
That sounds like he was an important Jedi that the Sith like orchestrated his downfall!
Now it makes to wonder how the story play out if Tyvacca was with Qui-Gon in Tatooine when Anakin was found.
Wow , that's a good story
OUTRAGEOUS THIS IS
I just recall Plo Koon being an awesome character in a PS1 action game based around the prequels. Can't remember it's name, but any lore around Plo and I'm hooked
Jedi power battle
Cool vid..cool character..now take notes Disney
Random kinda interesting note his saber has a curved hilt for dualing like dooku
“We are clones sir, we meant to be expendables.”
“Not to me.”
If he had survived he would have ruined Palpatine's plans before he could even set them in motion.
I never knew that Chewbacca was a secret Jedi
Iv'e bean an Accolite for years now... Now im out of the closiet!
Has this channel done a video on the Jedi Padawan known as "Scout?"
Can you imagine going up against Bigfoot with a Lightsaber. You are totally screwed.
I highly doubt it Yoda was the ultimate master of the lightside prior to The Skywalkers, Solos Within Leias Line, And The Mereks yeah.
oh yea, Volibear, he's a hell of a beast !! >.>

What comic is he from, I can’t find it on Google?
*Imagine if Disney had made all of the different species in Star Wars.*
is there records od a nimoidian jedi/force user?
It’d be cool to see gungi pop up in one of the live action SW series, just because wookies are cool af and jedi ones even more so
Corral Horn please
7:19 after doesn’t really give credence to that precog ability
In my head canon, Mace Windu took one look at Tyvokka’s lightsaber and said I need to one up that 😂
I wonder if his abilities acted like a Jedi spidey sense.
We need prequel films of the prequels.
What I wanna know is which writer made Mace Windu say this?
I would have loved to have seen this guy in action. A wookie Jedi now there is something worth watching. Their natural strength combined with a force and there's very few creatures that could take them. Sounds like he was a good guy. Too bad he didn't sense that coming
Imagine if Tyvokka trained Chewbacca in the ways of the force, if Chewie was force sensitive.
Imagine if the Duolingo Owl taught him Basic
Wookiees would be natural Jedi guardians given how tough and strong they are
wookies are very loyal and good dogs. but if it rains, the smell is unbearable and would give your position away immediately.
Lol, now I'm wondering what Wookies smell like.
oh snap
Interesting
My Wigga Tyvokka >>>>
🤝🏽🤝🏽🤝🏽🔥🔥🔥
Would there ever be a droid force user?
What happened to the pirate?
I remember something that someone else said the only Yoda was able to best Mace windu, If Tyvokka could beat Yoda would he be even better than Mace Windu? It stands to reason.
Qui gon was ultimately the better jedi. He was more in tuned with the living force and ultimately trusting the force to guide his actions. If mace looked up to him and he didnt get along with qui gon he definitely would have been arrogant and blind to the rise of the sith.
TSW should write for disney
Tyvokkas death was necessary. W/o the prophecy may never have come true, as he stated.... He would've sensed Anakin's darkness, and possibly Order 66. W/o these events, Anakin may have never got close enough to defeat Palpatine. It's a necessary evil to continue the story
This Jedi who can't sense betrayal from Nute Gunray would surely sense betrayal in Anakin!
A fEarce Jedi is he
So if Wookies can be Jedi Knights, is there any reason as to why Ewoks and Gungans aren't Force sensitive?
I'm sure I've seen an ewok jedi before...
That cant be the case cause i recall Plo Koon defeated Yoda when they sparred, and the only jedi to do so.
Tyvokka is a demiguise lol
Sounds like the sith had him smoked
Is Tyvokka and the info from this vid canon ?
Tyvokka's death is underrated as the Jedi would have taken a different approach in the Clone Wars
Also very strange there was only one Mandolorian. After all they are human beings?
wow
crazy to think palpatines plans may have been completely disrupted by one jedi
Do you think Chewie could’ve been force-sensetive?
I can't remember where, but I am certain that it was said that he wasn't. I think it was in one of the books that took place after a new hope, but before return of the jedi. I may be wrong about that though.
I think they retconned tyvokka because of tales of the jedi
