Good eye! Glad you found it. At least it's a somewhat easy fix. One thing to keep in mind is if you have to disconnect the spindle from the a arm to get it out, when you get it back together your alignment may need a little adjustment. If you have any questions there's plenty of us here that can. You got this!
Hey you. Hope you're safe and got things figured out. I know it's stressful being broken down. I once had to put a clutch in a crx in a gas station parking lot hundreds of miles from home. It sucked. Maybe just let everyone know you're safe
Sounds like axle is not in the spleen but only touching the out side .Unsure how you got a wheel alignment it should have been noticed then . Good luck
The CV axel end that goes into the transmission has a spline, and at the very end of the spline, it has a snap ring that locks it into place. If the snap ring was not seated properly when installed, then exactly what happened to you can happen. The inboard CV joint can pop out past the splines which will result in that wheel not having any drive. The way to fix it, is that you have to get that end all the way in the transmission on the splines until that snap ring seats. That may require banging the CV joint back in with some force after getting the thing in to where the splines are all the way in... which should have been done on the original installation. You do not have to take it apart... Wish I was there with you as it can be done in literally minutes. Is there a way for you to do a video chat to where you can show me in detail what you are dealing with? maybe Facetime? I am going to send you an email in a minute.
Geez... just can't let anyone install a simple CV axle. Hopefully it didn't damage anything else. You should find someone to do a full inspection on your Chevy to make sure she is sound so you don't have anymore issues. Shame on the person that did that install. Such a simple job come on really?
has your vehicle ever been wrecked in the front end you seem to keep having trouble with this stuff you might want to have the frame with checked it can cause us to keep happening
Be careful one thing I noticed check to see that your studs holding your spacer on not hitting your wheels if so that will cause your wheels not to bolt on correctly
I'm totally impressed with your mechanical knowledge!
A broken part on your truck.. Oh no 🚚👨🔧😌🌹🎅☃️🎄❤️
be careful and stay safe they can be dangerous working with just a jack under it
Damn, hard to find a good mechanic.
Wanted to wish u n Brucee a Very Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ty for sharing all your adventures this past year!

Yes, that sounds like a doozy. Yes you have to rip it all apart to gain access .Be safe, I'd be calling the shop that did the install if I was you.

Firestone in Santee Ca. also installed my cv axle incorrectly on my truck. Some shops are shady and do poor or bad work.
Advance auto should have that socket new cv axel between 90 to 150 bucks I just changed my cv axels

I just can't believe someone would do that on such a simple install.
I'm sorry it happened to you.
