In this video, we are setting up a head-to-head battle with the Asus ROG Strix Hero III Vs Asus ROG Strix G. With my experience in graphic design and video editing, you will see a lot of critiques coming from that perspective and I hope to be a guiding light in your decision for a new machine within your field of expertise or your interest thereof….
I am going to cover some important differences between the Asus ROG Strix Hero 3 and the Asus ROG Strix G - usability and the performance. These areas will guide my decision and recommendation for who each computer will best fit.
This comparison between the ASUS ROG Strix Hero III and Asus ROG Strix G took me by surprise. I expected the Strix Hero III to be a clear winner in the faceoff. I was surprised when I found that each laptop had its clear niche at which it performed very well.
The Strix Hero 3 Vs the Strix G was an excellent head-to-head comparison because it allowed me to disprove some preconceived ideas about older vs new generation laptops. When a new laptop is released it is easy to assume it will be better. That was not the case with the ASUS ROG Strix Hero III Vs the ASUS ROG Strix G.
These computers are extremely well equipped and I loved doing this head to head comparison because I feel that both computers are very prevalent in the market today. Even though the Strix Hero III is more expensive and equipped with a meatier GPU the Strix G is still a viable option!
Where these two computers really divide is video editing and multi-media design. If you are going to be using this computer for those types of projects then the Strix Hero 3 is your clear choice for all of the reasons listed above. I have a Strix G-G731gv with the same specs only that it has a rtx2060 6gb built in. Sits perfectly in the middle. It´s stupid fast, perfect for gaming on the go and editing works perfect on it.

Thank you for the video! Would you recommend this laptop for Graphic Designer and casual gamers? I've heard that the display screen colours aren't that great.. what are your thoughts on that? The color accuracy is not great, but it would make a great design and gaming laptop if you don't mind that it lacks color accuracy.

Hero III and SCAR III boast somewhat same specs.
Go for the Hero III if you want to save some money for accessories (My suggestions: ROG Gladius II (Pugio if you're left-handed) + ROG Delta/Strix Fusion series.)

Question when using video or photo editing i.e. Adobe Premier, based on your tests, does having a faster GPU more important done a faster CPU? You implied that the RTX 2070 will be faster when it comes to video or photo editing.

I am an architecture student. I was planning on buying a new laptop for uni. The laptop should run softwares like CAD and other modelling softwares like Revit , SketchUp and so on. Also it should run heavy rendering softwares like lumion. Would the strix g be good cop with respect to specs and cost or should I go for any other laptop. Really confused 🤯 Pls help
I have NO experience with CAD or 3D rendering softwares. :-/ I REALLY wish I could help you in these areas. The Strix G's GPU is a middle to high tier GPU. So if most model softwares require mid-high performance than you can definitely snag the G. But if the need top performance than I would go for the Hero III. I wish I could be more definite in my answer, but I don't want to give you any false information.

Yep..strix G can handle it..im an architect designer myself and i have used and tried all of the software u mentioned using my 6 year old ROG...i even do multiple task..just imagine how a 2019 rog perform compare to my 2013 model..lol..but if you have a spare to spend..get the hero 3..🙂

I have actually never used Architecture software. As far as rendering is concerned the Hero III is definitely the better choice. It breezed through the renders very well in Premiere. I wish I could give you a stronger answer, but I have yet to use the softwares you are referring to.
Does the hinge support only 120° position in ROG STRIX G or does it support other orientations?? Pls answer, I'm wanting to buy this laptop now.

Thanks a lot for that video. I search for some windows laptop for video and foto editing (modern MacBooks just bad) and I think Asus overall good choice. Not “so gaming” design and performance is good. Scar 3, i7 + 2070/2060 would be my choice, I think.

Yeah, the i5-9300H is a great processor for video editing. It is merely less powerful than the i7 when it comes to multitasking. :)

I'm stuck between getting a laptop with an OLED display for video editing but I also want to have the ability to play games every now and then. I'm worried that buying a gaming centric laptop will compromise the display quality as most only have IPS displays available. My question is do you notice a significant difference between the quality of these displays vs an OLED or are the both very enjoyable as long as you don't have them side-by-side? This predicament has stopped me from buying any laptops for over a month. I wish I was able to see these laptops in real life. 😂
If you need the power to play games then I would go for the gaming laptop. Because no matter how accurate your screen is if you don't have the power you can't play the game.
Now, if you are going to be primarily using your laptop for video editing and graphic design than I would get on of these models: Dell XPS 15 7590 ( amzn.to/2MVlKLR ) or the Gigabyte Aero 15 ( amzn.to/2MtJM1u ).

Yikes! The battery life is NOT good on the new models. 1.5 - 2 hours Max especially when designing and video editing.
Strix G is having average battery life, If you need this laptop on the go, Then you might look for some second thoughts.

I have the Strix G and....yeah I think 1 hour with game play and like 4 just casual web browsing. These gaming PC need their power cords near them at all times. Maybe one day we can see more improvements there.
How about cooling?
The machines stay rather cool for the power they are pushing out. You are going to get some fun speed and fan noise, but nothing TOO unbearable.

Konglong Gaming I got the Strix G model and in turbo mode it’s really loud tbh, you can try it out at your local retail store. The fan noise in idle is ok imo.

@@konglonggaming ROG is best when it comes to cooling, my roommate got gl503 and my brother got Pavilion Gaming 15 both with i7 8750H and 1050Ti, gl503 doesn't thermal throttle while Pavilion throttles while gaming and 3d rendering, Pavilion temps are in 90-95C range while under heavy load.
So the "G" is for ghetto model?

the i5 9300H is miles better than the 3750H as of right now and although the 3750H is cooler it performs less
Also the 3750H is currently 4c/8t and the same is with the 9300H

Cinebench R15 shows the 9300H is 18% better than the 3750H
Cinebench R10 shows the 9300H is 36% ahead of the 3750H
X264 HD Bench 4.0 has the 9300H 39% better than the 3750H
HWBOT x265 Benchmark v2.2 has the 9300H 50% ahead of the 3750H
3D Mark 06 has the 9300H 12% better than the 3750H
Geekbench 4.4 Multicore has the 9300H 24% than the 3750H (a spot that AMD is good at)
Geekbench 4.4 Singlecore has the 9300H 17% better than the 3750H
etc.
The benefit of the Intel laptop design is mostly because it can pull off more performance than AMD right now. Of course if AMD can make a good 6 core CPU then maybe we could see a change in pace but as of right now there is no chicken scratches of that happening
quick note: also although some of the percentages are very small the actual gain means a lot in terms of performance
