- Received a call one evening about a jeep that lost a serpentine belt. Only having that info, we grabbed a new belt and an idler pulley incase one of those had seized up. Once getting to the vehicle and finding out the aftermarket power steering bracket had come apart, and since it had an aftermarket pump on it, it requires a longer belt. So the one we brought wasn't the right one. We pulled it down to the good road and picked it up and hauled it to the shop for repairs. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Rory ,...those cheap small tiny tarps from the freight of horrors are great for opening up half way and putting down and scooting under vehicles and keeping some dirt off tools,...I keep one in all my vehicles , theyre especially great for a breakdown wearing "datenight " clothes,...mike
I use the padded moving blanket from Harbor Freight. They are a lot nicer to lay on. I use the tarp on wet ground.
That Jeep's under-hood congestion is insane!
Yep, plus the alternator mounted backwards doesn't make things any easier either... At least it's overly easy to do an oil change. The fill cap and filter are right on top staring at ya'..... Lolol.....
I liked the short follow-up on the Jeep. Gives me "closure". lol
Shows how a "quick and easy" fix, could lead to problem again in a short time. Good job, spotting the other problems that was hidden.
Robo Cop Rory: Dead or Alive, You're coming with ME! When you are in trouble out on the trail, there is no better sight to see than Rory Irish coming up the road.😃🤠😸 You and Mike be careful out there and God Bless.
Those Jeeps sure keep you in business
My dudes! Note to all. If you have anything at all aftermarket and you have a vehicle coming to do a trail fix, it would be really important to mention that to the people coming to trail fix your vehicle. Drop a piece of paper in the glove box with aftermarket part numbers and things you put on. If you have a shop that did it, drop that into glove box. Oil types, belt lengths... anything
Thanks for sharing some great advice and I hope people take note. 👍
I just write info down on inside of glovebox door with a sharpie.
Ok dad
Stamp it into a plate and rivet it to the slam panel or firewall. Cant be lost or get wet and the dog cant steal it...
Or be really smart and carry a spare belt(s) in your tool kit! I have a tool box just for spares. Fuel filter, belts, doser (diesel), idler arm, fan clutch, etc...)
Most decent offroad enthusiasts should have the basic spares in the trunk (belts, coolant, oil, fuses etc) and should always have the correct replacement for something that is not standard. This is 101 when I go offroad.
Why take the adventure out of it? I don’t bring anything at all, not even a spare. I do have water and a bed in the back of my K5 in case I need to spend the night. Just make sure your rig is in working order and drive it all the time to verify it works. Btw, I would never take chances in desert heat but everything else is survivable.
Once again, whoever is editing your videos has raised their game. The pull into night shot and then the stars was a great addition. Short but long enough to appreciate the place you live. Great addition to the 'straight-shootin' Rory show.
Its so interesting that Trail Mater and the newer Big Blue wrecker go into the rough country to rescue $100K jeeps all the time.
Shoutout to Mike! You are really good at telling the story to the camera and showing us what's happening to the vehicle. And you got wicked welding and mexhanic skills. Thanks for all you do!
Heck yeah working on Robbie’s ole’ timey wrecker 👊🏻💪🏻
"the suspense is killing me" That's what the guy at the end of a noose might say ;o)
Easy as ,just another "we'll have a go at fixing it on the trail
Your too cool 😆
Solid recovery and repair! Spare belt is essential to carry for sure. Good thing Mike replaced that crank seal too 👍
I grew up with multiple v-belts under the hood. When I got my first vehicle with a serpentine belt running nearly everything, I started carrying a spare belt and tools.
I think the jeep owner learned a lesson or two on that trip. Luckily for him you guy’s swooped in and saved the day.
I could see and feel the disappointment when you said "The belt is too short" your videos make me wanna move all the way across the country so I can get the full experience of it.
Rory I like the old blues light bar nice looks great.
Rory, just wanted you to know, if more than 1 new channel is available, yours is the First One that I watch... you always present the facts, and no made up drama to sell a story. Thank you, sorry I missed you last Friday, but you had a job to do... at least I got to see you "in action" as I went down 191 past your "Take off point" in "00"... the instant I saw the White truck & trailer, I knew it was too late to see you in person. Just know, that this Okie Boy loves your channel.
The fast forward night shot at 8:41 was innovative. The best laid plans of mice and men, are laid to waste again and again. another great vlog. TY for sharing.
Tha Aussies are watching you again , you’re a Hall of Famer man , so talented. Your staff are awesome
Nothing but the best for us Aussies 👍 🙂
Ahhhhhh the soothing glow of dad shoes at twilight.
how in the world do you remember all those places in the desert--what a memory--enjoy watching what ya'll do--i'm in the mountains of north carolina-all we got is trees and crooked roads
That beast of a tow truck looks awesome with the lights on as it gets dark..!!!!
Irish McGuiver….Great job. All worked out in the end.
Wow, "Old Blue" sure can motivate on those dirt roads, lol. Attaboy Mike, you were right about the belt.
Great edit! Loved the continued audio incorporated with the time lapse!
Loved the self tapper bracket fix.
Beautiful sunset. Grew up in the desert and the stars are wonderful!
I love how genuine this channel is. Rory Mike and Sean are a class act! Other guy too!
those belt can cause big problems my buddy lost his belt and kept driving to my place 2 daysand a lotta worki got it all sorted out. it wiped out power steering, pump crank seal, water pump, air ,so if you lose a belt DON,T drive it
Don’t ya miss the old days when you could open the hood and get you and a couple friends in the engine area? 😁😁
Allways interesting.
Very fortunate couple that get their Jeep repaired first thing the next morning. Around here it would sit at a dealer for a week.
Great video, the old Blue truck is doing well,Great video thumbs 👍 👌 up, doing field repairs there I'm sure is a parts gamble
Even after retiring it still makes me cringe seeing people driving down the highway without their seatbelt on. C'mon Rory, you know better than that. No airbags in that old rig means your face has a date with the windshield and I dare say your face and neck will lose that battle. It's not your driving that you need to worry about, it's mechanical failure or other people who shouldn't be driving in the first place.
The new tow rig is definitely filling the purpose it was built for. I used to mark down part # with grease pencil inside the hood. I have good memory but it is short. Now I keep a book in the glove box with all of that. Thanks for sharing
Another great save. I'll keep watching you.
I like the fact you guys do repairs in the field
Love the time-lapse
At around 6:18, I was expecting to see John Wayne or Clint Eastwood to come riding up. Some fantastic scenery.
Another good video gentlemen.
After market part made the repair a tow job! Might be a good idea to carry extra things!
Howdy Moab Motorsports !
Dudes !
Thanks for my early morning fix from Trail Mater You Tube channel ! Just so you know, I would watch ANY video of yours, the longer the better ! Living my offroad life vicariously through you and all of your vids. I'm still recovering from a S 5 through T 12 spinal fusion with titanium cages, rods and pedicle screws through my pelvis,.. so it'll be about late October, November before I can get back on the trails.
Rory, you, Shawn, Mike and Justin are killing it with all of your content !
Great work ! Keep it up !
Big Time Regards from Arizona
That can be a long haul Bruce, here's to hoping for a speedy recovery and the ability to live life again either free from or with minimal discomfort~ and agree, Rory and team are killing it with super excellent content!
Be nice if there were more honest ‘n knowledgeable shops out there like y’all’s.
Rory, you are so impressive with your trail fixes. If people used OEM-sized parts, that jeep would would have driven out of there. You MacGyver with the best 'em! 👍👍👍
What I like about your channel you ain't driving fancy thousands of dollars painted rigs you're a simple field mechanic go fetch it guy enjoy watching your videos
👍👍 Another great video!
Good stuff as usual Rory. Keep pumping out the vids. Seems like you have a lot more activity where you are than the others. Also, your vids come out on different days but also the same days than the rest of your friends. I haven't counted but I think you're putting more vids out than the others. When my grandsons visit, they always wanna catch up on Trailmater vids. Well done!
Such a stark contrast to my 78 CJ-7. Under the hood is jam packed with crap. Can't get to anything easily. You can almost stand next to my 6 cylinder and work on it. Damn complexity makes it hard to deal with.
Great work team! Camera in one hand while the other hand pulls parts, "Go Mike". Ol Blue is gonna earn her keep for sure. Thanks for the video guys.
Bump'n and Grind'n and getting one heck of an arm workout. Thanks for the vid. I'm going to replace the serpentine belt in my 06 TJ because I can't remember when it was last done.
Always satisfied watching you guys
So close on trail repair. Nice job of getting all back together. And that is why I always carry a spare belt.
Another great fix on the shop .guess we are glad the belt was short so he got new seal and bullet proof bracket ready for the trail✔✔✔
One of the Best on YT...Gotta love the effort for the trail fixes & the outro's... Nobody else would attempt it
Sounded like the customer wasn't happy about it having to be towed. When you purchase a vehicle with aftermarket parts you can get some nasty surprises. My husband went through that with a used Truck he bought. He discovered A. aftermarket parts don't hold up as well in certain instances. B. The repairs are more expensive. And in the case of his truck. C. Aftermarket parts and modifications to a vehicle cause a whole list of other problems. He payed extra to have the modifications and aftermarket parts done away with and returned to original parts,etc.. Believe me when I say the next Truck we bought had stock parts. Even all that was no problem for Rory and his sidekicks to get those folks back on the road. I can tell you from experience that is a great feeling to the customer. You guys keep wheeling and we'll keep watching! Stay safe and GOD bless
10:55 the suspense is killing me too bro
I love the trail fixes Rory, even the ones that don't work.
Had something similar to me happen right after I bought my 2006 RAM 3500 4x4. Blew a belt out in the boondocks. Son brought me a new one BUT, it was too short. Because I had an engine brake, the air pump added to a stock belt so now I carry a spare. Thanks for the video Rory!
Gorgeous scenery (as usual)! Teaser at the end? Now the suspense will eat at me 😬😬😬
Robby Layton's tow truck build ?
You did your best out there. Good thing you caught the piece of belt left behind working on it the next day. That could have been another call back out there!
What a great trail fix/recovery guys! Well done! the night sky did not disappoint either. View pays off being that far from city lights.
When I turn on CZcams, yours is the first channel I look for. Love your videos at all levels. I enjoy the recoveries, but also the repairs, even in the shop. I also noticed you’ve jumped another 1,000 subscribers. Yay!
Self tappers!! That’s a new one 👍
"Trail rated". Learned that with my jk in 2000,lol. Love the content brother.
Thanks for taking us along. I’m in the process of gathering parts for my first crawler build since I sold the last one 20 years ago. Lots has changed in Moab and in wheeling technology and you guys are helping to keep me motivated during the wait.
Yeah, lots has changed in Moab. Don't know if you live there or are familiar with it now, but it ain't what it was 20+ years ago.
nice job
Just out for a "ride", lol. Definitely some pretty (& gnarly) scenery! Thanx for the ride along...
You guys work in the best office ever!
Ole Blue is true blue! Faithful and loyal to the job at hand. Thanks for showing your valiant attempt to get 'er back on the road.
That looks like Robbie's Model AA wrecker 😍
After market parts should come with a warning about the belts great video and great job with the recovery God bless from GA and stay safe
OK love that video tried to repair it and then showed the end result didn’t leave me hanging. I sure appreciate that. !!
Awesome as always, better than Netflix
Thank you for sharing
Thanks for showing the mechanical repair. Good vid. Worth the watch
I love your videos. Everybody on this channel makes it an enjoyable watch. 5 Stars.
Well done, guys! Always impressed with Rorys ingenuity.
Great video I will look into that psc bracket having issues
Rory, great to meet you at the shop yesterday! And Sean and Mike. Much better to meet you there than needing your help on the trail!
Looks like Trailmator Lite is earning its keep.
Nice recovery, the little interlude of the starry night was very cool as well.
If your going to modify, as in this case, using something other than the OEM belt...PLEASE...use a simple paint marker & note the replacement part number somewhere that makes future maintenance a whole lot easier.
Paint markers are your friend.
Rory I thought it was funny how you tried to act like you didn't miss your turn and had to come in from the top was hilarious.
I am surprised nothing was said about Mike's comment about bumping and grinding on the bumpy part of the trail I thought it was funny.
I admire how you guys go the extra mile to get vehicles fixed is a great thing
you guys are absolutely awesome I can watch your videos all day your skills and willingness to help are absolutely inspiring.
Nice video Rory and Mike
Talk about 10 gallons of stuff in a 5 gallon bucket. Glad I'm a retired mechanic.
nice trial fix.. sad the belt was wrong🙁
11 minutes, hey the vid is way to short, at least double it, lol, you and the boys are fun to watch, cheers!
So glad you guys just post as often as you. Don't ever get a schedule. Just pump it out as you go it's much obliged
You guys are real pros... I always pick up some valuable knowledge from watching your channel but oh Man... that night sky shot with the meteor shower at 8:35 was freakin' awesome!!! 😯 Power of GOD right there brother.
Duck tape and bailing wire, that's what keeps the world together.
The newer versions is: Duck Tape & Self Tappers
Men make plans.... God laughs 😆 But you got it handled anyway... I knew you would!!! Good job guys!!!
Diggin your new light bar on Old Blue! Keep up the good work.
It amazes me how people upgrade their jeeps and carry no spare belts and have no clue of what was added or changed on their vehicles...
I think shops should give the owner of the vehicle a list and part numbers of what has been upgraded to make it easier to get parts and repair when out on a trail...
I've never driven on a trail but common sense is something that I have enough of...!!!!
Great video! Sometimes you go to plan C!
Love the videos. Been a subscriber from the beginning!! You should name the blue wrecker “tow-mater”..!! Keep up the awesome content..!!
Great rescue, great repair, and fabulous drive into the night sky, wonderful imagination, Mike! Rory, you just do what we all expect you will do, which is be awesome LOL
A nether Awesome job Rory
