    Fun fact...
There was an FDA funded study earlier this year on the health effects of cigar smoking. It was performed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM). The study was pretty clear that the risks associated with smoking cigars is directly proportionate to how often you indulge and how deeply you inhale. So cigars, much like any other "vice" (alcohol, sugar, sodium, dairy products, etc.) requires measured and regulated use by the user. I only enjoy Dominican cigars (Davidoff and Fuente specifically), because they are fermented and aged MUCH longer and in a more involved capacity than Cubans. No product in Habanos S.A.'s suite of cigar brands is fermented and aged to the degree of the most premium Davidoff or Fuente (e.g. the Davidoff Royal Release is aged 8yrs after 2yrs of curing and fermentation before release to the public, the Fuente Don Carlos No. 2 has tobaccos aged on average 10yrs, and several others are aged on average 4+yrs before release to the public). Cubans are fermented for but a few months and not aged beyond 1-2yrs generally. Hence, Cubans will tend to have more nicotine, tar and ammonia than Dominican cigars like Davidoff and Fuente. Additionally, Cubans tend to use more ligero, Viso (and Medio tiempo in Behike's), which have higher concentrations of nicotine, tar and ammonia. So not only do Cuban's have more nicotine, tar and ammonia than top Dominican brands, but they are not fermented for very long, nor are they aged long either, which is why you literally have to sit on Cuban cigars for 3, 5, 8yrs or more to get all of that stuff out of it. Lastly, I suggest afficiandos not only enjoy more fermented and aged cigars than not (Davidoffs and Fuente's aged 5yrs or more)... but also suggest you restrict yourself to perhaps no more than 1 or 2 cigars a week. Which will dramatically reduce the degree of impurities entering your body.

ok so i agree most of this video. apart from the lunge part. ive been smoking cigars for 8 years and next to it i am also running marathons, mountain races and swim at lake crossing events. im not a pro athlete in any shape, but i would say i am a fitness enthusiast with a pretty solid weekly workout regime and a few races here and there. now i did really really want to say that it does not effect my cardio, but after years of testing and finding out evidence (and stop-watch) based...sadly, it does effect my cardio performance by bringing down my lunge capacity noticably (if not super harshly, but definetely noticably). for sure you do meant to keep the smoke in your mouth and mouth only, but the lunge is the motor of it all. so it is not hard to see the lunge involvement and yes, some of the smoke, completely involentarily will get to your lunge, since it is the generator of getting the draw and you can not 100% shut it of...no, some of it does get to your lunge so lets be completely clear on that. and it does build up and yes, it will effect your running.
are there also health benefits of the cigar? i would say yes, as it is remarkbly great at stress management. it is a stress eliminator and also great for your mental health as it brings you to here-and-now and here and now is the BEST place for your mind to be. so all in all, i would say, from all the "guilty" pleasures of life (alcolhol, cigarettes, drugs, coffee, high sugar food, processed food) cigars are still the least harmful options. so i kept them in my life and i love them. if i have to have one guilty pleasure, let it be smoking cigars. but lets not get carried away, cigars are in fact BAD for your fitness, bad for your respiratory system and possibly not great for your teeth and mouth either. so for me it is very important to keep that in mind and keep a diciplined and balanced way of consuming cigars. my last cigar of the year is always on the 31st of december and the first one is always after my first marathon or mountain race, which is typically in july. so with that i dont even touch cigars, just ador them in my beautiful 6 foot tall humidor cabinet and also read about them, collect them. for the other half of the year i try to smoke anything between zero and 3 cigars a day, also as Jasim says, always waiting for the right time and right atmosphere, right company etc (which means that i can go days without cigars, but also can have days when i have one with a morning cofee and also with a lunch at some great terrace restaurant, and also one just sitting at the port, adoring the sea and maybe even a 4th with drinks at a beautiful hotels fumoir, if i am lucky enough to have such a great day...but i dont just smoke them to smoke them, i combine it with great moments and stay completely away from them for 6+ months) this is the most health concious way i have developed and it works for me. i think its good to consider every aspects of a lifestyle habit and make a well educated choice and strategy.

I enjoy the occasional tobacco pipe and cigar. I'm of the opinion that doing so in moderation isn't very harmful and in fact can enhance one's life with much needed relaxation and reduced stress. Stress is a big killer and can shave many years off a person's life. It's important to destress and decompress, especially in this stressful and fast paced world. Kudos to you for covering this topic. Thank you sir.

The toxic chemical is the burn and the ash. It’s those that stick your lungs or your respiratory system and potentially cause cancer.
When you exhale, you breathe in your own second hand smoke. Even if you hold it only in the mouth, you still bring it down to the lungs through normal breathing.
So yes, it’s still extremely unhealthy and put you at a high health risk. I would also like to remind everyone to check your insurance. Some has conditions that does not cover your health cost if you are an active smoker.
I’m not telling people to stop because cigars to me is an work of art and I love them. Having it once in a while is probably ok. Daily is too much in my opinion. Just be aware of the high cost and health risk.

Many studies showed us that nicotine by itself it’s not harmful at all, it helps concentrate and helps focusing, also relaxes too, but it can create addiction. The harmful substances in Cigars are tar, ammonia etc… if present, but even inhaling the smoke from your car is not healthy at all, in fact far more dangerous than cigar smoke, so as Jasmin said, keep it in moderation and you’ll live a happy life.

this is so dumb.. sry but my grand father was a heavy smoker. like 2 packs of zigarettes a day and he reached age 91. it doesn't mean that just because of ONE person that cigarettes aren't THAT dangerous.. you have to collect ALL the smokers to make such statement and yes: cigarettes and cigars are getting you way higher chances of developing cancer (loung for cigarettes and mouth for cigars). it's science and proven.....@@joeriggi87

It is a good thing that Australia banned cigar lounges! Even the cigar smoke is not inhaled, the smoke from them could still cause lung problems and cancer.
I wish that my country of the United States would ban them as well! A cigar lounge opened up in my community about a year ago, and I try to avoid going past that location as much as possible because of the secondhand smoke.
