- Up today we have the SKAR RP3500.1D, got this as a refurb from Skar (Full Board Replacement)a while ago and finally strapped it up to see what I get out of it. Skar did their own dyno but had trouble keeping the voltage up... Lets see what this one can do with 13 14V Batteries attached to it and see if we can get better numbers.

You had me rolling 🤣you said " dude got 20 foot run of cca 1 battery and a stock alternator plays amp below 10 volts and it blows and says OMG Skar sucks! No man you F****** suck ! " LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣 Great video btw ! That Skar is putting out decent ratings! I would definitely consider buying one if my system called for that much watts.👍💯
THIS was the BEST and the TRUTH
@@pgmurray76 Right on bro!
Ha! That had me laughing. At least he’s honest. I do hear people say the RP amps aren’t very good.
@@woody721 I am happy you commented in this. Now I am re-watching it and laughing while working my weekend job! This was tops.

The end rant of running 20' cca and calling it a day was priceless. #subscribed
What's cca?
@@frankwilliams4445 Cheaper material wire. Forget what it actually stands for but usually when you got 3K amps you wanna use OFC wires. Well, preferably you should be using strictly OFC wire.

I've been running my Skar 500.1D daily for 9+ years and it's never skipped a beat. I've been impressed by it for sure.
I've had a RP-1500 for three years now with no issue. Love it!! Also have the RP-150.4AB for same amount of time no issue. Plays nice and strong.
I am currently looking for this set up now. But the marine version 1500 and the 150.4 from skar. I would like to know how they sound? i have a Skar EVL-10" and i feel it take more power. I am currently using the alpine Pdx-1000 and alpine PDX-4-150 good amps but they are older and the sub amp does not have a bass knob.
I've had the RP-2k since 2016 i think, so its been playing at 1 ohm for about 4 years now and its as good as it ever was. Not the best amp in the world, but it gets the job done and puts out over its 2k rating.
@@catch22frubert is it bad to run my subs at 1 ohm instead of 4? or will playing at 1 ohm sound louder outside of the car, can you explain
Nice to see ya back!
Glad to see you back
Glad you're back. Another top notch video! 👍
I love the honesty at the end! Some people (a lot) have no business in car audio.
Another great Amp Dyno keep up the good work
Got a Rockville db16 about 7 months ago and I love it!! Gonna try scar out, thanks for your efforts in these vids!!
Love it! Keep up the dynos!!!! I bought a WFO 3.1 because of you. It’s thrashing my SA12’s. Brand X alt, XS power XP3000.
Thank You for putting in the effort to make these videos for us. I like the "no fluff" approach you take to getting the job done. Well met sir!
Lol @ “no fluff”.
I've had my RP2k for 4 years now, always bump it hard on full tilt and never had an issue :) they're great!
Love how your bench system maintains 14.51 volts at 5200+ watts dynamic!
13 D1400 batteries and 3 100a Psus will do that
Whata gem 👌I like when companies under rate there performance numbers (on certain series)
Does better than rated power. Exactly what I would expect from Skar. I love my Skar LP-750.1d I've had it for several years and it's still pounding like it's brand new!
Great to see you back. Would really love to see some new orion xtr class ab stuff!
Wow that thing is a beast!
Bruh, been a fat minute :) Good to see ya back my dude
I have the RP 2000 skar amp and it puts more power than it says very powerful amp took it to a place to have it tested in my vehicle it is putting out 2800 Watts RMS to 3028 Watts RMS very pleased and I only paid $240 for the amp I think that's a pretty good deal love watching your Dyno testing
Nice I love it and you getting mad at the end of the video was the best.
I would absolutely love to see some more budget 5 channel amps. I actually stumbled across this channel while looking at a review on your Rockville amp. I'm still really Leary of going with them though due to the vast difference in the reviews
"No man you suck" 😂😂😂 freaking cca stock alternater people trying to run 4k amps
More common than all of us would like to admit
I plan to try 2500w RMS with OFC wire on a stock 180A alternator. We'll see what happens. XD
@@metallboy25 so what happened man!? Hopefully you didn't let any smoke out of your amps and or subs hahaha it's really difficult to put the smoke back in hahaha!!!
@@austinsears1637 Well, I put the subs in and they are great. They are 1600w with a 1750w amp and it works well. But im working 12h shifts 6 days a week right now. So it will be a while until i build the amp rack, put the second amp and replace the door speakers + adding the 6x9's.
I'm not looking for anything this big but if you get a deep cycle optima and a capacitor can you get away with running a 1500 amp at 2ohlm on the stock alternator in a f150?
It's always the user problem. You nailed it. People trash the name because they have no clue to what they are doing. An they don't give them the cooling they need. The RP line up has cooling vents on the bottom of the amp. It's a must to mount the amp at least 1/4" up off the mounting surface. I have both the rp1200.1 an rp1500.1 both have a 1/2" air gap. Never had a over heating problem. Both are maxed out on power they can putt out. Best them daily for the last 2 years not one problem. Now I'm looking for a amp to run 2 zvx-8's an 4 of them later an the rp3500.1 fits the bill.
A man who respects his own craft 🤙🏼
The SK model Skar amps were better than these RP models, but, they do what they are supposed to. The SK amps would really put out well beyond rated power. I still have both of my old SK2500.1 amps, and wont part with them even though i moved on and trying a Taramps currently. Had my DC level 4's rebuilt 3 times over the years and i still slap the shit out of them. Best subs ive ever bought.
I have had my RP 3500 for 5 years. On 6-12" SDR
Nice performance 👍
Good to see you back! Great results for the amp. I run a skar 4 channel and it’s performed great for me.
Thank you this is my next amp
How is it holding up debating on buying this
I got the rp4500.thing is a monster 👍🏾
What other upgrades do you have to make for such a powerful amp?
Can I run 4 kicker cvx on this skar 4500.1d and wat is the best amp to push all 4 of them at 1ohm the kickers are 2ohms 750watt rms
@@martecedarring8596 that's way more power then you need...... I think you really need to spend some time learning. 750 watts x 4 speakers 3000 watts.... If you run some speakers too hot they will die lol be careful
@@Theyoufeelme If you know what you’re doing and have proper electrical, you can go over the recommend RMS power of the subs. And plus it’s a thing called box rise that raises the impedance up while the subs are playing. Causing the amp to see a higher OHM load, which causes it to not put out full power
@@SubwooferKing100 ok let me ask you this. Can you wire 2 ohm speakers down to 1 ohm?

Not the dyno I wanted to see but that's pretty impressive to me. I'll have to check pricing on them though.
Its crazy how many more watts you can get out of an amp. Just by increasing the voltage and amps. My personal favorite voltage is 15. As long as i dont drop below or peak above 15 volts im happy.
I'm a skar audio fan they have great customer service I have a stock alt 2 12v car batteries and a old 1 farad cap for now and my volts don't go below 13.6 my rp1500 on 2 sdr 12s is not getting hot or my rp75.4 on 4 6x8s slaps nice sounds great
Ive been running my 2000.1 for 4 years now . Runs great . Now my 150.4 has issues with the dip switches . J.s my 2000.1 did 2800 at 14v on an smd certified. My 1500.1 is doing 1900 at 14v so im pleased . Ive been looking for a replacement for a new project for a few weeks now and skar keeps coming up on top unless i include full bridge amps and tbh im not sure about f.b amps . I see alot of them blown up and i hear alot of them that sound horrible.
Long time no see.. Have a good one
Have the 1200 watt skar amp and 1000 watt 10 inch sub. Been about 2 years now in the hot Florida heat no issues.
He made a great point on people running one battery stock alternators, and then when the amp fails. They talk shit about the product, when it's the customers error. I have Skar products that never given me any problems
Nice shirt!😎👍
Not bad for the RP line. A guy at work had the RP 2000 on 2 Skar EVL 12" sub and it sounded good, but I sold him my Synergy Audio WFO 2.1D and blew his mind! I honestly wish I still had that amp. It was maybe 4 months old and I sold it for $300. Dumb move.
I can't wait to see the Synergy Audio WFO 5.1D and the WFO 8.4D. I know from experience that the 5.1D is underrated big time. I have it on 2 Fi Audio Q 18s wired to 2 ohms and I'm still overpowering the subs (gains set properly with my oscilloscope).
Yes, more amps!!!!
One bad ass amp!
Nice video!! Still waiting on the orion xtr 4000.1 .. that would be very interested to see ...
NICE!!!
I would love to see you do a dyno on strapping 2 Skar RP3500.1D's
I have this Amp wired to 1.3 ohms pushin 3 evl12s and let's just say it tickles my nose hairs with a pretty beefy electrical in my Avalanche in a custom midgate replace enclosure. VERY 😊
There subs are good priced but their amps are a little high. Wow I wasn't expecting 5000 watts dynamic not bad at all.
Even tho you and big D have managed to put together some stout power supplys for testing I have an idea that would beef up any power supply that would require less battery's or substantially increase overall capacity. My idea is to build a basic frame repurpose a compressor for example 220v motor and attach a alternator to it. The hardest part to aquire is a pully and belt for motor which isn't hard. You could add multiple alternators for whatever amperage you wanted. 500A from two 250A alternators would be pretty stout. Just plug it in and bam 500A going into battey bank. It's super basic to Fab up if there's no access to welder a drill and bolts would work fine. I suggested it before on big Ds channel and a guy commented something like totally useless you would accomplish nothing you would be using as much current as you were making...I guess he didn't grasp the concept...its to make cheap big Amperage at 12v for bench testing seems a 500w for example AC to DC power supply would cost a small fourtune. Even a cheapo $65 80A alternator in this setup would help recharge the bank pretty fast... If I could afford it I'd build a couple and just send em out but I don't. I think they would catch on....
ryans back
youre right about user error. im experieced enough and have caught myself messing up when by ear. i use alot of 500w amps in the cars i drive alot and the big boys in my cruisin cars 2-5k its expensive to go that big. but i recently deff had a sony way above the clip point and didnt notice till i put the meter on it. why its important to know ohms law with no tools volts times volts devided by resistance equals watts. so the square root of say 500w at 2 would be 31.6 ish volts @ 40hz where amps are tested. because i know this i can now set my gains accurately. leaves a little on the table for performance because of box rise but will get a good end result without a dd1. also a good idea never to turn anything to max it tends to be distortion 70-80 percent where theres a clean source. amping a dirty signal gets a dirty sound. love these lil skars fricking great for the money. same factory as ct sounds and sundown.
I have one of these and my stupid installer put 8 gauge for my ground wire. I clipped the hell out of it for months until my alternator blew first and my wires started to melt. Amp is still holding up strong and I must through my testimony that they are bulletproof and I forgot to mention I'm running it at a half .5
Hey Ryan, always awesome video. Can we see a Soundstream Rn1.3000d on the bench?
Lol I ran two runs of the cca 1/0 to my rp 3500 an a extra battery both is a AGM battery. so far so good no issue with it running hot have 2 EVL 15 ON it about 10 an going
Soundstrwam just dropped 2 new lines of amplifiers the Reserve line for dealers only and the BEAST TXP line you should totally test
User error definitely! I'm guilty when I first started! But I'm seasoned now but man my grave yard for amps is quite impressive 🤣😂
Would've liked to see the guts and get your thoughts on the build quality. Still a killer test jus the same. Def makes power! Thanks!
Its funny you say that about the stock alt. I have one of these in my 2013 f150 running two sky high ofc zero gauge on their own 250 amp breakers with a down4sound duel amp input with no problems. I have a volt meter that never drops under 13. The battery in the truck is a monster tho with sky high aluminum terminals. I thing its a class 65 witch is one of the biggest battery you can have in a vehicle. I has been over one year now and i beat on my shit with no problems.
It's a performer....at 432 amps of draw you better have a damn good electrical to back it up....nice job on the video...
Takes Power to Make Power...
No such thing as a Free-Lunch.
🤷♂️
Ya that’s why when people ask me about my system I start with my after market Alt and two 100 pound car audio battery’s. And I like when they come back with “I used to have 2 12 inch kicker COMPETITIONS....”. I gues because my enclosure is tuned 28-18hz and so it’s not loud but shakes things up like houses and buildings but some think bass has to be loud to be good. Then when I tell them my subs are 110 pound EACH and I run a 8k rms amp it all just goes over there heads. But hey it’s all for the love of bass. I may go sealed for a while so I can enjoy the 90’s jams and the 90’s bass albums I grew up bumpin in my room with a pair of 12 inch pioneer IMPP’s in a bandpass. Ah the good old days.
Nice
Agree extremely low voltage literally kills amp power supplies
I bought the Skar competition SKV complete set 1500.1 D competed and the 12KV competition series for about 700. Hope I made a good decision
Just saw a dyno on a rockville db comp 5 that puts out 4k uncertified! Rated 3.5k and does its numbers. And they're only $350!!! I was super impressed. It's got a volt meter on front that didnt seem to read correctly, but you shouldn't even have it unless u got a volt meter already anyhow lol. But super super impressive! Wow the Rockville 3500 db comp 5 is only $350 for 4000rms watts certified! Its been dynoed by my request on "Facekicker" but this was still better but Rockville is cheaper.
When I first got back into car audio I had gotten a 15 inch vvx v2 and a rp1500 and thought It sounded great until I got into SQ...now I just spent well over $900 on a zapco 500 watt 2 channel to go along with the 1500 6 channel and over 700 a zapco dsp...not to mention subs, speakers, cables which to some is alot but to others nothing since they have more then what I have ...but what I am getting at is car audio is a drug...you first start off with a small entry setup next your buying high end amplifiers because it's still not perfect
