    I went with the alternative of buying used LED candles at the thrift stores for ~$1 each and embellish them from there. I am refitting them with small WS2815 12v LED strips and WLED so that I can use them throughout the year.

    I made candles last year based of 3 of your videos and they turned out fantastic. It was the led video,the motivated lighting video, and the low voltage waterproof box. They added a very spooky feel to my graveyard.

    Another great tutorial, the brown stain did so much heavy lifting in the transformation, and such a great idea using that translucent foam as a diffuser!

    A soldering iron is very handy in making notches too. Not sure if would work on carving out the top of the candle though.

    I’m glad you added the warning about wearing breathing protection. I would also like to add the warning to wear eye protection. I was cutting PVC last year when I was trying to make a wrought iron gate to join our two sections of cemetery fence when the pipe shattered. I got knocked backwards like I had been punched in the face, because I had been essentially. I got a nice cut on the bridge of my nose, but I counted myself fortunate because I had been wearing my protective eyeware and there was a shard of PVC embedded half the thickness of the left lens that would have taken out my eye if I hadn’t been wearing them.

    I made some of these before using the same kind of LED’s, I used a disc of white EVA Foam with a small slit in the center to hold the bulb in the base. Then filled it up with clear hot glue with hot glue to make a water tight plug and provide diffusion. There was a bit of marvel ping from the white that was still left I the glue gun that really helped the diffusion. I was working with thinner diameter pipes though, and that might be a lot of glue for larger candles. (Don’t forget to drill one or two drainage holes in back of course).

    • @VanOaksProps
      @VanOaksProps  Před 2 měsíci

      Worst case scenario you can just use schedule 40. A lot of hardware stores keep it with their sewage pipe - in fact some just call it "sewer and drain pipe." So if you haven't looked in that department or using that term it may be worth taking another look.

    A possible alternative to pvc pipe is the translucent pipes that rolls of window tinting comes on. You can get them for free from the auto window tinting places. From memory they are about 80mm (3") in diameter and 1500mm (5') long.
