Was reading Helaman 5:2 about how laws & government were eestablished by the voice of the people, and they who chose evil were more numerous. So I looked at cross reference 4 Nephi 1:40 and I wondered about the 244 years - why was that important? So I did the math 2020 - 1776 = 244 years! The BOM is a type for our day and very inspired to help us to remember and cleave!
I love David’s sense of humour. Reminds me so much of mine own sons. Emily gets it. Just love these two😁😍
I love the word REMEMBER. That means we once knew it so remember.
Remembering = the key to a changed heart and the cure for the pride cycle. ❤️
"Invite God back into the story."
I love this.
I love the fun twist on names and playful attitude-keep it up, David!
I like to think of Building a Foundation on Christ like putting drops of oil in our lamps like In our good works, scripture reading, prayer, etc...
First things first. You can't get into the temple without a recommend
David, love your observation about the people rejecting God. We see that a lot today; people turn their backs on God and then wonder where God is and why He permits the current evil activity in our society.
Dave love your names for the people. Another great lesson. Thank you
Great job every week guys! There is a Book of Mormon pronunciation guide in the church’s Library app at the end of the list of books in the BoM. You can also google it. In addition, we’ve made a game of watching you guys so that whenever David says RAD, the kids get a treat! Keep up the great work you two!
If you really want to know how to pronounce someone's name - there's a pronunciation guide in the back of the BofM. Or, open the chapter in the Gospel Library, and click on the headphones to listen to a recording of the chapter. Not even as funny as David's strange name substitutes, but it's there to check out if interested.
Poncho 😂 otherwise known as pay-ON-kigh (like pay-ON-sigh) and Pac-Man😂 or pay-COO-men-eye
Messy Musings #
Yes, I’ve been referring to the pronunciation guide a lot lately, with so many new names coming in to the story.
And can I just say...? “Pay-an-kai” There you go, David! LOL
Enjoyable lesson, thank you David and Emily.
Learning that David was a Bishop gives me a deeper understanding of his experience.
I was laughing so much at the beginning of this lesson that my 10 year old came over to see what was so funny, so I replayed it. She thought it was funny too. I wish I had these lessons when my older children were young. 😀
A haunting fact in Helaman 4:11 (preface to the pride verse):
“...yea, and it was among those also who professed to belong to the church of God.”
It’s sad to see this happen within the membership of the church (starting in ch. 3). It’s natural, I think, to believe that threats arise from outside one’s group, be it country, state, party, church, etc., but the genesis, in these chapters comes from within. (And as others have mentioned, it’s hardly the first time). To take it one step further, it starts within one’s own heart. This year I’ve had to re-evaluate so much of my beliefs/worldview at the possible expense of not aligning with ‘groups’ I have before, groups where loyalty is an unspoken bond, such as family, community, etc. At the end of the day I have to remind myself that I have made few oaths in my life, and those few oaths/covenants were made with my Father in Heaven, and are empowered by His Son Jesus Christ.
It’s a walk I never anticipated but the gem Mormon left me was Helaman 3:35.
Never thought it would be this painful.
I love Dave and Emily’s joy in the gospel!
Great lesson! I love how you clearly shared the story amindab by expounding so many of the verses! You guys are awesome! Thank you!
“Remember seems to be the cure for the pride cycle”
❤️Thank you David!
Oh David, you really do make me laugh 😂!! Love you guys and love your lessons xoxox
Love you two!!! ♥️♥️♥️
So fun to learn from you both. Thank you Emily and David.
Love these lessons! I like how both if you are very personable, to help all of us to bring the scriptures to life! Thank you so much for your efforts in taking on this adventure. Many many people have benefited from these lessons! So, keep them coming! Thanks a million!
Fantastic! Great way to start the week!
Love it!Thank you 😍👏
So many great people and stories !
David ! Would you ever do another Ites book with even more people that weren’t in the last ones ??
Helaman 4:12 reminded me of the Ten Commandments. I think they broke all of those laws. Thought that was interesting!
Haha that made me so happy!
No worries guys! There’s a pronunciation guide in the scriptures ! Thank goodness for “Real Talk” and Steve Scott :) for pointing that out

Thank you for making the time stamps! Helps so much when I want to go back and find a certain point!
Hey David - as much as I love “Pancho” and will likely never forget it when I read his name, (I’m still chuckling) in the pronunciation guide at the end of the Book of Mormon it shows Paanchi is pronounced pay-On-key
Now I'm going to remember the pronunciation by thinking of Don Quixote
Actually pay-Ann-ki (long a, short a, long I).
My guide shows it as “pay-an-kai”
Oh I hope that someone knows Dakota and they tell him to listen the this. He should know how much people cared about him.
GREAT lesson!
Hey, did anyone else have issues with the audio getting off track from the video about half way through? If so, any solutions on how to solve that?
This is comfort to me 😊 thank u
Ours did a little, but it kept self correcting.
my audio and video were off sync and then back on the whole video
Thanks, such excellent lesson contents!
How Al fox is such a great example to everyone
I think these two should make a children’s version of the BOM. They make it so much more interesting. Probably help the OT as well
Thank you
See pronunciation guide (after Moroni). Your students might benefit from it too. David, listen to Emily. The Lamanites attacked a city in the middle of the land. They didn’t attack the middle of the city.
Great insight!! You cut each other off all the time though. Let each other finish a thought, then make your point.
I wonder why we have Alma the Younger but not Helaman the Younger. huuummmmm
Because I listen and don't watch your video, I wonder if when you refer to the board you can name what you point to instead of saying "this" and "that"? I love your lessons. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I wonder if Mrs Pahoran was alive to see the carnage her 3rd son caused. 😥 Another great lesson thank you! 💕
It's true, the Lord will not turn his back on anyone who is humble and seeks his help
Love you guys Hahahaha!! Thank you for helping me 😊
Paanchi is pronounced pay-an-ki.
I think he’s taught the youth for many years. He knows it.
@@kukustweety1 Regardless of how long you have been practicing/working/doing/teaching something, you're never beyond the point that you can't learn something new. That's the beauty of the scriptures too! It's thinking that way that will stop one's growth no matter where it's applied in life.
The Book of Mormon has a pronunciation guide in the back. Both names are there.
There is a pronunciation guide on page 533-536 in the Book of Mormon that tells you how to pronounce all of the names. :)
You know there's a pronunciation guide, right? 😁 Most schools don't teach what the pronunciation symbols mean, so maybe it's not so helpful. 🤷♀️
I love David’s names for the sons.
Great presentation. Would it be possible to post a screen shot below so we could print out and use for note taking during your presentation?
Hi Timothy - if you pause the video at the 10:27 mark, you can take a screen shot of the entire board.
Wonderful lesson, but yes it did "glitch" for quite a while,..
The Dynamic Duo
What are the lesson books you guys are using it looks very helpful, how do I get one?

Where can I find the talk of Anthony Sweat about his wife's love for a set of silverware ?
F. Burton Howard April 2003 talk entitled Eternal marriage. This is the talk I listened to about his wife's love for her silverware. Hope this helps!

I really wish I could see what's written on that piece of paper on the chalkboard.
Basically, its what's on the blackboard. The main difference is that there are fill in the blank areas on the sheet. The blackboard fills in the answers.
What does David mean when he uses the word "rad" ?
Cool, neato, groovy!!!!
Does anyone know where to find the quote about the youth by Pres. Nelson?
