When i joined the church more than 10yrs ago, i was asked to say the openning prayer. My worst nightmare (as someone who is introverted and scared of public speaking). I said yes (and quietly panicked in my seat). I pulled out my phone and started frantically googling "LDS openning prayer". I couldnt get reception in the chapel and wanted to bolt. I started typing my prayer into a note app. When i got to the pulpit, i bowed my head and stealthily read my prayer through almost closed eyes. I dont remember what i said, but i think i was nearly running back to my seat at the end of it. I have to laugh about it now. Sweating over nothing😂

Can you tell me where the definition of repentance in minute 35 is at in Alma?

I too have personally experienced the joy that comes from God after feeling the pain and remorse of my sins. The minute I turned to my Father and had the desire to change…the minute I acted… and turned towards the Savior, activating the atonement of Christ, I felt my pains no more. It was instantaneous for me and I know it can be instantaneous for all who choose Him. God does not wait to pour out His love and joy as you turn to Him! He was and is ready and waiting. Excited to shower down His love upon you. The joy is immediate! I testify that this is true! Thank you David and Grace for sharing your testimonies of that as well. I know that by your sharing that you have felt that too. I pray that all who have even the smallest desire to turn and follow Him will do so. There is nothing in this world better than His Grace.

I hear what you say when living God reliant . However . I live in a place where many need to be taught how to live self reliant ! To live within their means, to not be completely dependent upon the church to take care of your personal needs . Many want , instead of living within what they have . Finding the joy whether poor or rich , many live without of their means . Needing to learn self relaince . Trust in God is the base . And know he is & will be there as along as we do all we can for ourself

I also play that game that Grace was talking about, trying to find the evidence of God in what’s around me. I’ve also taught it to my children and we’ll play as a family sometimes while in the car or at dinner. I love it the most when someone asks a question like “how does a car remind of you Christ?” And then there are five different answers but all answers point to Christ. There have even been times where my primary aged children have taught me about Christ with their answers.

I haven’t laughed so hard in a come follow me lesson like I just did! Hahah you guys are amazing, thanks for all the insights

That orange story is the best! That's how I see it! My experiences tell me there is a God. When I go anywhere and see the landscape around me, I become overwhelmed with awe for my God and His Beloved Son! One of my 10 year old Primary students answered the question today by simply saying, "Because of my experiences." We lie to ourselves when we say nothing proves there is a God.❤

Just gave birth to a third son, and this hit me pretty hard. I hope that I can be an example of having a great relationship with Christ for my sons too!

I got called to teach gospel doctrine in my ward and freaked out! I did accept the call and the challenge to teach. As a convert, I feel intimidated to teach the gospel to others who may know much more than me. As I prepare my lessons, I hear your comments and statements in my mind and I feel inspired, comforted, and confident as I use and share your insights to my class. A funny story - Two weeks ago, I walked into the chapel for the sacrément and who do I see sitting with his whole family visiting our ward? David Butler!!!!My hands started shaking and I broke into a cold sweat with the idea of having him in my Sunday school class 😅😅😅😅😅. After the sacrément I went to say « Hi » I was so stoked to get to meet him in person. He is so genuine and feels his love for people he meets and for his family. David, you are definitely a wonderful person!!😊. Also, I was so relieved that David was needed somewhere else and could not attend my Sunday school class😂😂😂 because my lesson plan was mostly made up of Emily and David’s insights and discussion😆. I love you both so much. You made my calling less intimidating and so much fun. THANK YOU🤗❤️

Bonsoir, I just listened to your commentary on Alma 30 and 31. I was surprised by your take on Alma 31: 36! I don't disagree about the need to have folks around us who cheer us on, but I think you missed an important point about the words 'he clapped his hands on them...' Alma was putting his hands on them (his companions), to bestow the Holy Spirit on them.' !!!

One of the challenges in the church today is that many members do not study and understand the word of God and are not sure what our true doctrine actually is. Instead of studying and listening for the spirit to give them personal revelation, they listen to podcasters/pundits online and think that is enough; it is not. "True doctrine understood changes attitudes and behavior..." -Boyd K. Packer

I am so grateful you mentioned how you are still working on things from 5th grade... i am learning that my head thinks something in order to protect me, and as a child it might have done this, but as an adult i see the lie in it and l'm seeking the truth in God's word, to undo what i had learned. It is always inspiring and so helpful in preparing lessons to listen to you both. Thank you for the time and dedication, thought and preparation, and for making it fun, funny, spiritual, and conversational. Keeping it real, down to earth, relatable, and framing things in heavenly ways I could have never thought of alone. Adding to what you've taught I can create a much better lesson and am getting much more out of it than without the opportunity to learn from you and the spirit. It's like having a teaching partner in preparation, which is so needed. Thank you for the time and commitment this is for all of us.

A deeper perspective on the DisneyWorld experience... what if you had to answer a calculus question correctly before you could ride any of the rides? Would your enjoyment of the experience still be a matter of perspective? I talked to a volunteer at a Bishop's storehouse once who said he used to be skeptical of the people who the storehouse served before working there. Then he heard an apostle say something to the effect of, "How can they hear Him over the cry of their starving bellies?" Then he understood his role in the Savior's plan to save everyone. He was feeding the hungry so they could hear Him. Satan knows the weaknesses of everyone and gains access to them through those weaknesses. Some people have no choice in their weakness. Tom Cruise became a scientologist because, despite his superhuman qualities, he was ashamed of his learning disability and they took him in and gave him a program to overcome that problem. I hated Disneyland until the sun went down. It felt like I was dying the whole time, but once the sun went down I couldn't believe how magical the castle looked and how beautiful the whole place was. Many people are looking for an escape from some kind of pain. We can either help clear the path to God and their solutions or Satan will give an enticing path to escapism. It's often not just a matter of perspective. Sometimes it can be a matter of understanding but even that takes a teacher. Not trying to be critical - I love you guys.

Yes! When 8 or 9 years old, I was sitting in the huge branches my neighbor friend's big, old cherry tree, chatting and enjoying the shade on a summer's day, plucking and enjoying the fruit, when it dawned on me how accessible and natural and miraculous this tree and this fruit was to me--everything was already provided, and just waiting to be plucked and accepted.

That was so fun to see the faces you make in amazement of faith and science. I love learning more and more science beyond the depth of quantum physics, to chemistry, to the math that helps us understand why things happen or the probabilities that occur for something to happen or not happen. In every case it has never hurt nor challenged my faith. I've seen the love of God in all things created. I don't mean I always see it, and it does get difficult for me in dealing with some people. 🤔 I ❤ how you noted the truth is relevant to how you treat others better and how love eventually, extensively increases in your life.
