    I used a Wacom Cintiq 22HD and Wacom One Pen Display for years but they never quite gave me the same feeling as drawing with pencil and paper, which is my background. I kept trying to use them but it just felt awkward... However drawing on a normal tablet also felt so incredibly awkward for me. But then I purchased a Tab S7 and started to use that, eventually plugging it into my PC, drawing on it but looking at my monitor.. After a few hours it's like a switch in my head sort of turned on and all of a sudden it felt natural to draw like that. The next day I bit the bullet and I purchased an Intuos Pro Medium and instantly adjusted to using it. It feels SO much nicer! It just feels more natural and liberating not having to constantly almost look through my hand. My accuracy, painting and drawing has improved ten-fold. I'm never going back to a pen display now. I'm also left handed so I have the same setup as you! 😂😂

    Some cool techniques there, but I tried to duplicate your "H Polish" brush, and I made sure all the settings were the same as yours, but my brush did absolutely nothing. The "planar" brush settings do work for me though, and that's really what I was looking for. That should be the default settings for the scrape brush. All I wanted to do is make flat planes on my sculpts, and neither scrape of flatten default settings do that. I noticed you didn't mention the flatten brush. I'd like to know how to use the settings on that too, and how it's different from the scrape brush. The line project tool is great! I didn't know that even existed. Thanks!

      @MWSculpts  Před 10 měsíci

      Hey yes apologies I made a correction on this in the pinned comment "at about 00:46 seconds in I set the plane offset to 0.025 not 0.25 as stated" give that a try. Glad the planar brush is working out for you I find it super useful too for making rocks or crystals.
      Good point with the flatten brush it is not soemthing I have experimented much with but will have to give this a try. Something I have been playing with more is the 'Lasso trim' with the 'trim mode' set to 'Difference' you can cut away shapes really quickly with this too.

    • @DonaldDrennan
      @DonaldDrennan Před 10 měsíci

      @@MWSculpts That plane offset doesn't seem to matter at all. I tried different settings. I noticed that you are working in mm. I am using cm and the default unit is meters. Should that matter? I am almost never working on stuff that's bigger than about 45 cm, but most all of the tutorials use meters, even when modeling small objects that are not meters long. I build things actual size, and that seems to cause problems for me often.

    • @MWSculpts
      @MWSculpts  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yeah you could try changing the units to match mm temporarily to see if it starts to behave correctly. I will have another look tonight at my settings to see if anything is missing

    Add a spline, shape it and make a projected cut onto the mesh

    • @MWSculpts
      @MWSculpts  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah this is a neat idea, I think you can do some stuff with this like project to mesh with a slice. But I have found these things can take a bit of set up, get cleaner shapes though 🤔

  • @jerzyk1604

    Good job! Did you find any replacement for Zbrush ClayPolish where you polish whole object equally while keeping the sharp edges?

    • @MWSculpts
      @MWSculpts  Před 6 měsíci +1

      So if you use the hpolish then come in with a very low strength planar brush you will get some nice edges but the surface will need to be flat in the end.
      These are the best setups I have found so far, not sure if the ClayPolish can be emulated in Blender or not

    I have a question at 3:35.
    Question 1. How did you scale in Sculpting Mode?
    Question 2. Go to object mode and scale to narrow the gap between two separate faces. Even if I go back to Sculpting mode and do a remesh with CTRL+R, the hole won't fill.
    If I increase the scale of remesh, the meshes disappear and disappear when I do CTRL+R.
    If the remesh scale is reduced, the sides separated from each other are only remesh in more detail, and the hole is not filled.
    What did I do wrong?
    The course is very good, but the use of shortcuts is not displayed, and there are many omitted interfaces, so it is difficult to follow. I'm trying to lower the speed as much as possible, but it's hard..

    • @MWSculpts
      @MWSculpts  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hey, 1. You used to be able to hit s key in sculpt mode to scale. However in later versions I have found it has changed, in the tool menu at the left side (hit t) you will find the scale icon, perhaps you can add a shortcut to it (right click)
      2. You will need to scale on the axis which brings the planes together then increase the resolution of the remesh. Sounds like you have tried all this might be worth just creating a new object, ideally you don't want to get into this situation!
      Thanks for the feedback, my later videos have shortcuts displayed as this was a bit earlier in my CZcams journey. Sorry about the speed hopefully you can get your issues resolved but if not let me know and can try some other ideas.

    Yet again an awesome and helpful video, but I can't for the life of me figure out how you manage to fill the gap between two planes after mask slice and fill holes at 3:35. It looks like you're scaling them to be close to each other and then remesh it, but I'm having trouble recreating this. Anything I'm missing?

    • @MWSculpts
      @MWSculpts  Před 11 měsíci

      Great to hear you're getting something from the videos ☺️. Yes you're right scaling down on one axis till they are close then remeshing but so the voxel size is bigger than the gap, then it should remesh and fill the gaps!

In 'Scene Properties' under the 'Units' tab if you set your 'Unit System' to 'Metric', 'Unit Scale' to 0.001 and 'Length' to millimeters you will be set up just like my scene is. Then when you are exporting stls they will be the correct size in mm.

      Hey Trang, yes this was an odd one. I mask out the shape on the object then use mask slice and fill holes but got 2 faces without the holes filled. So to fix I scaled along the Y (I think) axis until flat then remeshed to make this a solid shape then scaled back up on the Y axis

I have the keyboard over the tablet and a little to the right which helps. Many of my binds are set using right alt + ? which is handy.

      When joining these objects together, first of all select all the objects and unparent them (which it sounds like you have already). Then after hitting control + j you might find that some of the objects look strange or inverted and this is because the normals have been flipped. If you hit F3 then search for recalculate outside this will fix the issue. But you can also fix this by remeshing the new combined object ^^.
