    Great job as always guys! Regarding the wheel studs, worst case you could have pulled a stud out of 2 of the other wheels and then had at least 4 lugnuts per wheel to get you moving. Glad you were able to find the correct parts without too long of a wait.

    Been following from the beginning and have thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm in the very early stages of planning a trip from the UK to South East Asia and possibly Australia in a couple of years and thinking of possibly taking a trailer. So I'm wondering if you have thoughts on how your trailer affects fuel economy and if you've had any major issues? Would you take one again on a long trip? I ask because the general view in the UK (where I hail from) is that they can be a nuisance so I'm looking for opinions from people who actually use them! They do seem to be quite popular amongst American, Australian and South African overlanders. Anyway, looking forward to the next episode!

    Brake lines are brake lines for the most part. That parts store should have had something with the same threaded ends. As long as the line was the same length, or longer, it would have worked. I have found GM lines that work on Ford, and Toyo lines that work on a Chevy. I have cut off banjo tabs with a grinder or a hacksaw to make them work in the past for a trail repair. I know, it doesn't mean anything now, since the trip is over. LOL

    in the last ep, you changed trailer tyres with the front of the car, the rest of the trailer should carry other replacement parts, eg, wheel bearing, brakes, hubs, wheel STUDS, and nut...if you need to use parts of the trailer to get the car running and you can leave the trailer on the side of the road, if need be, while you go get replacement parts..Brake line, cut it, put a bolt in the line and clamp of, you will have no brakes on that corner, but can keep moving...

    Congratulations guys, nice episodes. Just one question, why do you choose Toyotas for this expeditions?
    Because I live in Angola, and in my country we prefer Toyota or Nissan for this kind of things, it's normal here. But you are in America. Regards

    • @orxTRON
      @orxTRON Před 9 lety

      Jean Colsoul I'm not them, but (typically) in America, Toyotas are considered way up there in reliability. Lexus (Toyota's luxury brand) consistently tops reliability ratings with Toyota not far behind.
      For many, it depends on what their needs are. Regarding Toyota's trucks in America, the full-size Tundra and the smaller Tacoma, you'd sacrifice usability for improved fuel economy and reliability. You could easily go with a Chevy Silverado or one of the ford Ford F-Series trucks to get a larger bed, higher tow capacity and payload, etc. but they tend to be less reliable. Breaking a stock Toyota is very uncommon.

    What is the cause of the lugnuts/wheel nuts ripping off like that? Where they too tight or loose?

    • @Joseph-C
      @Joseph-C Před 9 lety

      A.S.A A whole year late, but this is an important safety question that you and everyone who reads this needs to know the answer to. The answer is that both could be the cause. If the wheel nuts are severely overtightened, that stretches and weakens the wheel bolts, which are then subject to failure. If they are loose, obviously this puts more stress on the bolts and less on the suspension and can also cause them to fail.

  • @hadrianwall8621
    @hadrianwall8621 Před 8 lety

    I would have robbed one from a couple other sides, and run it with 4 ...and clamp the brake line if needed...maybe then Toby wouldn't have gotten so bored he threw himself off a bridge. LOL All these make me want to get my buddies and take the old FJ40 or Willy's for a road trip.
