Just a quick correction: Omega’s “x meters” ratings are a rare case where the WR ratings in depth/length units don’t border on false advertising. Its ratings actually mean that its watches are WR to those depths.

Thanks for the entertaining video! I think “secondary market” is a better term for what is meant here. Grey market is typically used to refer to new, but not through an authorized dealer network.

The Datejust has such a variety of how it can be configured. Different color faces. Really dressy with a fluted bezel & Jubilee, or more utilitarian with a plain bezel & Oyster. Then it can be jazzed up even more with two-tone, solid gold, & even diamonds. Mine would be a 36mm, black-face, plain bezel, with an Oyster bracelet.
Cartier Santos would have been interesting to see due to its remarkable history being the first wrist watch ever created.

A small note. The Girard Perregaux "Mimo" was introduced three years BEFORE the DateJust showing the date in a window. Rolex are careful with how they describe the DateJust "the first automatic watch with a date window". The Mimo was manually wound. Nevertheless, most people will say that Rolex were first to introduce a watch with a date window.

My current favorite watch is my Traska Venturer GMT. I have a Grand Seiko, many Seikos, Tudor Black Bay, and had a Rolex Explorer that I sold a while back as I didn't wear it as much as my Tudor because I didn't want to mess it up. So when I sold it, it was in great condition

I LOVE my GWM5610U. The resin strap doesn't bug me, and it's my daily driver. My poor mechanical watches usually just gather dust in the watch box.

How many were real? It's also the most commonly copied. From Seiko all the way up to actual clones/knock-offs.

Got a sub, want a Datejust, question is which one..... there's so many choices lol.
Thr Datejust might be the most popular overall (due to overall affordability and all round useabilty) but you can buy one in an AD at retail right now, so it's certainly not the most desired, that title goes to the GMT or the Daytona which still IMHO has further to fall in seconary prices.

There is a Rolex for every watch enthusiast (if you can buy one), most will love Daytona and Submariner but the staples are Datejust, Oyster Perpetual, Daydate and Explorer!
I bought a DJ and an Explorer and those are the only two watches I wear now. Should I sell my Submariner?

Datejust was my first decent watch, but it's a bit dated now IMO.
Explorer, Submariner (not date) and GMT would be my top Rolex's and top 3 watches, with the Omega Planet Ocean (you know, the best Omega that nobody mentions 😂) joint third ; )
The simplicity of the sub Black no-date is perfection.

My citizen Tsuyosa is running at +3 seconds… better than some of my Swiss movements. My seiko sarbo17 is running negative 15; mechanical watches are weird

I am new to watches and am amazed that at the culture behind it…I never knew it existed. I have to say when I just viewed this list and honestly I don’t find one watch on the list appealing at all.

For me, Omega Speedmaster is more tecognizable than Seamaster
Recognizable? If you are talking about the Diver 300, it's bracelet and helium escape cap stands out a lot more than a Speedy although I like the Speedy a bit more.
I miss my Datejust with cobalt blue Wimbledon face, fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. 😢
If I had to wear just one watch for the rest of my life it would be my Sub. Every other diver is an imitation or copy of this icon.
The rolex sub is indestructible, even if you buy it new today for 8 or 9 k you can wear it every day till the day you die,then can be past on to your family so a good investment I think.
Well you’ve done your homework, so I’ll have to accept you’re correct, but how Cartier isn’t there is beyond me.
I tend to avoid the "most popular" watches. I wear nice watches for me not to show off to others. I do have swiss watches but many are German and the average person on the street doesn't even know the brand never mind they are luxury watches . Thats not hard as most people only know Rolex Omega Breitling which is why you see so many on peoples wrists it's so sad there are literally 1,000s of amazing watches and you see the same few models time and time again .

I am too old to have had a F91W, when I was a nipper, but my GF bought three in various colours. I borrowed her orange one as a gym / Spa watch. And I have lent that watch to my young friend whose super trendy, and is in a band. He's currently wearing it, while he's touring the US. I am lending him watches, as he's new to the hobby, and trying to help him buying that wrong first watch, which you later regret. It's a great watch, and I wouldn't have known that without being lent one.
Oh...., I bought her a baby blue as a replacement, so I am not a bad person.

Great list (and thanks for a video on a rainy Saturday in SoCal) - except for 3 and 1. The 300 has a lot of competition in the crowded diver space, not sure who outside of Omega diehards would choose it if money and availability were not issues. And maybe I’m just too cynical but the Datejust, OP, Explorer I are just ‘Rolexes for those who can’t get a Sub, GMT, or Daytona at an AD’ consolation prize.
The Datejust is the perfect watch for a girl. I've bought one for an ex-GF. I live in Geneva, and I've seen some amazing watches on friends and acquaintances. Lots of Rolexes, predictably. Only ONCE have I seen a Tudor on someone. And I've NEVER seen a Datejust on anyone with a penis. Lots of Sub's, lots of Daytona's, lots of GMT's, some Explorer II's, some Day-Dates.
One thing I learned about watches. You leave them behind when you pass away. ;)

Dang, I got my SS Daytonas (zenith movement) and Nautilus (3800) when they were both under $10K many years ago. Lol. Both overrated really. I think the Aquanaut actually looks better than the Nautilus as it doesn’t have those ugly ears. Also had a Submariner and found it boring. Blancpain 50 Fathoms nicer.

I think submariner is a watch that appeals to beginners who first join the hobby. Somehow it has that appeal , including me when I started. Fast forward, I would never want to own a modern sub , too chunky, flashy and every Tom dick and harry wears it (be it fake or genuine) . But it serves a purpose and I respect it
