The REAL Grevious
SolarDragon007 This version was definitely better, but it unfortunately isn't the "real" Grievous anymore. The Star Wars canon seems to be leaning more towards the 2008 version of Grievous now.
Grievous in the star wars movies is stronger than the clone wars but a lot, but the reason why he got beaten so easily is because obi wan is stronger in the movies too.
+iOmegaGamer Also because Obi-Wan was said by Windy to be the best Jedi to face Grievous.
Actually I like the character in the movies better, he is more than just a killing machine, sort of the slimy and clever villian that can still defeat tough foes (Since he has his fine collection to prove he have killed jedi). This version is cool too.
SolarDragon007 You've got that right!

Imagine if the 2008s General Grievous has the terrifying prowess and fighting capabilities of 2003s General Grievous... I want to see THAT...
I actually really like Grevious' 2003 design a lot.
Let's hope he gets a redemption in season 7
The show would have many more dead charecters.
Everyone would be dead.
They had to nerf him in 2008 because everyone would be dead ( but they could have him not lose half his limbs every fight)
It suits the theme so well, because Grievous was trained to use fear in order to interfere with the Jedi's force powers so that they wouldn't be used against him. This makes him THE weapon against Jedi and their use of the Force.
Grievous also has some of Sifo-Dyas' blood inside him, which also gives him a little resistance to the Force.
VYNLT but didn’t give him any force powers
He is basically Darth Vader beta
But that didn't stop Obi wan from using the force push on him
ElectroWolf 97 Obi-Wan wasn’t scared
I really enjoyed 2008 Clone Wars.
But 2003 Grevious just shames the hell out of their Grevious
That's an understatement.
Eh I disagree. Look at the things that the rest of the Jedi do in the 2003 cartoon. Mace Windu vs the droid army episode for example. It's just the style of the cartoon. Grievous IS a badass in Revenge of the Sith. Just that Obi-Wan is better :)
The Dude But there's a difference. Everyone is more powerful in the 2003 cartoon, but Grievous was even *more* powerful than the Jedi. So let's say everyone loses the same amount of power from the 2003 cartoon to episode 3 or the 2008 Clone Wars. Grievous should still be more powerful than the Jedi.
The Dude He's not talking about Revenge of the Sith's Grievous, he's talking about Star Wars The Clone Wars tv series grievous

The problem with Grievous is that we never see him face off against a character that doesn't have plot armor. We see in his lair he has a huge collection of Lightsabers, but we never get to see how he got the. Nadar Ven (I hope I didn't butcher the name) is the only character we see him fight that doesn't have to live. And he makes short work of him after Kit Fist, who is among the most powerful Jedi in the order, is separated. We never got to see him fight people who *could* die.
Not sure on Nadar Ven, but it’s Kit Fisto. Happy to help.
Darkfire Project when was plot-armour ever involved. Did you forget that he actually kills Jedi in the clone wars and only loses to people who were already established to be better fighters than him. Stop throwing plot armour around whenever a character you like isn’t undefeated
Fat Thor it’s not plot armour😂😂 you fucking idiot do you even know what that is.
Plot armour applies to 2003 clone wars more so than any other show I’ve ever watched. Grevious should’ve died or been crushed with the force numerous times in that show but he didn’t even tho he single handled it fought 4 Jedi council members solo and won even tho one of them was capable of fending off armies and another was legendary with her force powers. Yet grevious somehow never gets caught in the force and somehow outperforms one of the best duelist while dueling 3 other people simultaneously. He should’ve fucking died but he didn’t bc “it has to look cool”. Same with mace defeating a droid army with his hands, shouldn’t be possible
z NightOwl z You dont seen to know much about Greivous...
Finnguy clearly I know more than the dumbasses I’ve been responding to.
Come back when you have an actual argument
This guy > any other version of Grevious there has or ever will be.
Unless it’s a modern remake in the sense it’s been cleaned up to hd quality
Witnessing the Jedi in action left you believing they are unstoppable. Only to then witness someone/something cut them down with such ease...Needless to say, it was bone chilling for my 9 year old mind to see it.
Plus, the soundtrack only left the situation feeling far more horrifying! I love it~!
Worse for the jedi is that they thought they were unstoppable then they see him kill their friends must have blown their jedi minds
His entire focus in any fight is to overwhelm and terrify his opponent, which at least disturbs their own focus and in the case of an unprepared Force User sabotages their ability to do anything but use a Lightsaber, with mixed proficiency. He cripples them and forces them into a fight they cannot win.
I wouldn't go as far as to say he's one of the best duelist in the Clone Wars, but I will say he's the greatest Shock Trooper I've ever seen, provided he spaces out his interactions.

Boss battle: 2003 Grevious

People seem to forget how utterly broken and overpowered Grievous really is. Grievous can casually walk through a force barrier after getting tossed out a window. He c an take a point blank rocket launcher to the face and land on his feet after falling off of a skyscraper due to said rocket launcher. He can buckle a control panel made from durasteel just by leaning on it. He can tear straight through Mandalorian armor bear handed. He can slaughter several companies (144 Clone soldiers each) and Jedi alone and unarmed, leaving none alive? He can move so fast that it just looks like he's teleporting. Kills a guy just by landing on him, can fucking fly thanks to an antigrav repulsor, enabling him to wield six fucking lightsabers at once. He's able to take on both Asaaj Ventress and Durge at the same time and kick both their asses. His armor is durable enough to take starship blasters to the face and shrug it off, yet he can easily crush his Magnadroid bodyguards who are made out of the same stuff. He's mastered all 7 forms of lightsaber combat and can strike so fast his sabers become invisible. Most impressively though, is when he took an explosion that destroyed an underground city threatened the stability of an entire planet point blank and barely had a scratch on him
The crushing the guy by just landing on him isn't that strange since he weighs like 159 kg...
This is why they nerfed him
Even the high ground can't save you from this guy
Must of spent you a lot of time to write that
Yo, big grievous fan, I knew some of this stuff.
But where did you see or read on this?
@@DatLeafyBoi I mean if you're tall enough anything can be the high ground
“Your training has served me good, it has given me many trophies...”
“Don’t let your desire for trinkets cloud your vision...”
I remember when this first came out. I was young and he scared me so much. The clone wars came out and i was a bit older. My fear for him turned to laughter as he hobbled around and made dumb threats. The 03 didn't need to say anything and he struck fear into hearts, 07 needed an army to even be considered a threat
Alden Swanson
No, the 03 needed an army, a well executed plan, and luck on his side, to be a threat. All of which he personally gifted himself. Otherwise he would've to follow his master's advice : flee.
But what is fantastic is that you as a viewer can't see any of that if you don't think about it. You end up just like the exhausted, army-less, disoriented, terrified Jedi masters. Seeing Grievous as unstoppable.
Would he had faced all of them without carefully giving himself this huge advantage, he would've probably died. But only facing Kenobi, did he grew overconfident at first.
Azerty72200 this grievous had that cyborg mind that could process the perfect strategy, the perfect way to counter lightsaber strikes all in less than 0.1 seconds, this and new grievous have the same potential just that the new grievous is an idiot without that hyper intelligence which holds him back

Sounds like a spooky imperial march
I love how the theme even sounds like youre fighting a mechanical horror.
I Like how His theme in the movie Is just kinda like a re hash of Imperial March, you know, that ''i'm so evil while Walking mhuahahahaa'' but this One Is More like ''HOLY SHIT THIS DUDE IS GOING TO KILL ME'' which if you Watch that Fight scene is sure what The Jedi who faced him felt
Nicolás Riveros the one from 2005 was really good but the actual character of grievous in that movie was so underwhelming. He was a complete coward.
The Son of Dathomir felt like they actually cared about the character.
RofS just wanted a cool looking villain.
The rest of the EU and this series took that cool villain, and gave him purpose and backstory to make you connect with him.
Then Dave Fiolni got his hands on the Canon, and started going crazy.
@Grass Green ROTS was still in development by the time GG first appeared in this show. There wasnt any official depiction of him, so he ended up being drastically different in episode 3.
No. Not even close. His theme in the movies is consistent with the SW universe, it's iconic and has become a classic for many people. This is just a weird "Jaws/generic horror movie"-wannabe theme, bland, unoriginal and used by many others.
Not to mention they tried to make his voice sound like Vader at times.

2008: The Neutered Version
As much as I loved how OP Grievous and some of the other characters were in the 2003 series, I will admit that the 2008 version is a lot closer to how he was portrayed in Revenge of the Sith. In the movie, Mace Windu flat-out says that Grievous is a coward who always runs and hides. He didn't exactly seem like a formidable opponent, either, considering how easily Obi-Wan severed two of his hands. It wasn't until Obi-Wan dropped his lightsaber that Grievous started to put up a better fight. Simply put, making him out to be this nearly unstoppable badass completely contradicts what the character is like in canon.
Seven Jedi*
@@christianwelch4206 I would like to propose that it may be possible that there may be portrayal jump between 2003 and 2008 with Grievous being less aggressive after getting his chest crushed by Windu, which may cause the perceived cowardice due to comparison between an aggressive Grievous over a significantly more cautious grievous riding on fame and previously gained reputation and peaking point who has had a near death experience due to a crushed chest

Before Grievous was known as a force of Nature. Cannot be stopped no matter what you do.
More like force of technology
He can be beaten, but you've got to both be used to underhanded & demoralisation tactics, plus be able to keep your focus without panicking - all the while fighting someone who moves unnaturally, fights you with at least twice the normal number of sabers, and finally is specifically trying to trick you into making even a slight mistake. He also learns when to back out, so you've got to somehow surprise him too in order to catch him. Good luck.
