I live across the park from SCT and hear and see them daily.

At some point in time you might like to do a history of SCT. It is fascinating. To see a company started around 20 years ago, from such humble beginnings and to grow to the size it is now. Wow!

Fantastic filming and great research, I think Ive looked at this a few times just rewinding and fast forwarding to get a perspective of the size of the train.

      T
SCT also doublestack from Goonbang Junction near Parkes NSW where they run a direct service to Perth 1800m long. But at the moment no trains are crossing the Nullabor

its funny you mentioned the derailing because as a child i remember hearing there was a derailment on this exact turnout at laverton in the late 70's i think it was a vline

    Love the video, thanks!
Can I ask, where is the best place to watch these freight trains come in and go??

I really enjoyed watching this video. No squashed up telephoto, just natural as the eye sees it. Can I make a suggestion you may wish to consider? I'm almost 80, but I've struggled with captions all my life. I become so obsessed watching the movie, I don't always see when a caption is changed. I wish SBS would do this: When a new caption appears, could you change the outline or centre colour to another colour? Say black and white for caption 1, then red and white for caption 2. Caption 3 can be black and white again. This will enable people with my problem, whatever that may be, to realise a new caption has appeared on the screen. Just a suggestion for a future video. Great work!

The box cars have 8 wheels like all wagons.

I know nothing about Australian wagon codes: what is a PQSY wagon? What does it carry? To me they all looked like box wagons and container wagons.

PQSY wagons are short and are currently used for sea containers. They are new to sct

@@phillipcollins9290 a PQSY wagon is 13.5 metres and 16 tonnes, it can hold 2 small sea containers and most can hold 3 or 4 small containers (small = 20")

@@australianrailwayproductio3277 Most of our (RSA) container wagons take 2 x 20'. We do have some that can take 3 x 20'. None of ours double stack. I imagine that would be unstable with a gauge of 1065mm. Your railways are quite interesting. Thanks.
