After so many years of planning it is great to see this terminal up and running. I think SCT is one of the most positive things happening in rail freight.
30 hrs from Melbourne to Brisbane by rail not bad, the truckies do it in 28hrs max, but then they can only haul a B-double, weighing in at 50 tonnes, 60 if the scalies aren't in operation, these guys haul much more than that, with probably a fuel stop in Sydney and still aren't that much slower. Well done SCT wait till the inland rail connection gets up and running, then we'll see how much better they can do, if they can hook a rail fuel tanker behind the crew car then non-stop is possible. Which ever way though less trucks on the road means an envionmental win.
Sct perhaps you can now encourage more transportation companies to do the same!. Been to gelita heaps of times ( dont eat lollies now.) how much to make a km of track?. The train in byron was about 900k new a km, why can't the New England be opened up again?. Thanks for sharing.
Wish we could get efficiency like this in South Africa!
