To think this all started because a man in a dapper suit trapped a gentleman scientist on a strange island in some sort of alternate world
And people should stop hating on the dapper man, if it wasn't because of him we woludn't have this much fun, would we?!

Well game make it clear he didn’t intended to trapped people in this world. He was magician performer who was using real magic to perform his magic trick only to end up in this world which the world inhabitants trapped him in a chair forced him to listen to same instrumental for all Eternity and forced him to trick other people to come this world and end up replacing him and do the same exact thing as what he was doing to other people.
And many new players still believe OH NOOO MAXWELL EVIL AND BAD HE TRAPPED WILSON which is kindaaaa not a good reason to hate on him imo. I know he trapped them all but all of those people had a choice, they could choose to not to listen to him, and that's why Maxwell doesn't even apologize to any of them. In the other hand, he does apologize to Charlie, because she didn't have a choice and she didn't want to be here in the first place. So come onnnn people, stop thinkong he is an asshole. He knows it was his fault about what happned to Charlie, but it is to late to fix it. But about others, it is both his fault(kinda, considering They made him do it) and survivors' fault
@@nadiach1271 I mean, he's not TOTALLY innocent. You can tell from his quotes that he still has that air of narcissism and, based on his quotes for some of the monsters like the clockworks, he did partially enjoy being on the nightmare throne and creating parts of the Constant. What many people don't factor though is he's actually TRYING to make amends for what he's done, despite his haughty behavior.
Yes, he's now firmly a part of the group and he gets a bit too much hate for his past, but nobody should forget that he didn't become "The Great Maxwell" unwillingly. He DID enjoy being a God and controlling the lives of the survivors, who wouldn't? But he didn't like the consequenses that came with it, being trapped on the throne, and he probably grew to hate his position as time went on.
Though, this is all my personal headcanon on his character arc, I never saw him as either completely against Their wishes or an absolute monster. At the end of the day, William, now Maxwell, was just another survivor that got sucked into the Constant and was given immense power with equally immense chains attached.
THAT ENDING WITH CHARLIE LOOKING OVER EVERYONE IS JUST YES.
It reminds me of Maxwell in the trailer where Wilson is taken into the don’t starve world

Honestly it’s just IMPRESSIVE seeing just how far and much they’ve been able to do with don’t starve together. It makes me happy to see them working on the game. Makes me glad I got Don’t Starve tattoos.

I still remember when in 2013/14 Klei said All Well that’s Maxwell would be the last ever update and multiplayer would be impossible to implement! Thank god neither was the case
