One of the interesting things about Sigmar that is only alluded to a little bit in actual AoS is that he's essentially a barbarian. He loves fighting and the freedom of living in the wilderness and views being a king of civilization as a burden. In that regard he's very much based on Conan, another famous barbarian who became a king only to find himself missing his old life. This is why Sigmar wandered off into lands unknown when he got old, because as soon as he felt the Empire no longer needed him to survive he abdicated the throne and took up the life of a wanderer in the wilderness he's always wanted.
Now in the Mortal Realms that factor gets a lot worse. Sure, in the early part of the Age of Myth he had a lot of fun adventuring across the different Realms, but the time of exploration has long since passed. He no longer has to manage a single empire with the prospect of retiring, he now has to rule entire realities and fight against Chaos for thousands of years with no clear end in sight. He never wanted to be a god, but now that burden is on him he isn't going to shirk it no matter what.
I would love to see the Duradin prospective. Fyreslayers, dispossessed and overlords. They are all kin from the old Khazalid Empire

Awesome stuff! :D
In defense of the choice to free Nagash, he did end up the sole reason that the Realm of Death wasn’t conquered by Chaos and it literally becoming a hell that all dead get sucked into to be tormented and devoured by daemons.
The countless scattered & esoteric death gods couldn’t have stalled Archaon as Nagash’s iron grip on the realm and ego that easily matches the dark gods did.
Sigmar unknowingly unleashed skull Godzilla that could hold off the apocalypse kaijus.(before inevitably death beaming his pretty buildings later)
BY SIGMAR! The lore Master returns!! I really appreciate you walking us through the mystery early days of AOS this was very well organized and easy to follow
🎉🎉
Loved it! Please do more like this if you have the time and energy, it feels far more personal.
This is a great format. We need you to do these! Thank you!
A 2 tough aos lore video? How I’ve missed these, Sigmar be praised!
You the best
Your the westhammer
Of sigmar thank you for all your hard work❤❤❤
I like to listen aos and Old World lore videos as audio when i paint my miniatures. Moar long lore videos!
Keep doing these Doug. That was awesome!
I got into you because your take and perspective on aos got me into it even though I’m a 40k guy with no interest whatsoever.
You did that for me 100%
Don’t wanna knock on your side projects but I reckon the bulk of your channel follow you for what you do for that game and it’s lore.
Loving this! Just picked up the Yndrasta BL book because the cover and color scheme looked so cool and felt like I should give the lord of AoS a try again. This has really provided a clear understanding of what’s going on.
Love this format.
I’ve always been more of a 40K fan, but you’ve single-handedly caught me up on AoS. Thanks Doug!
It's great you're getting back into lore videos. I'd love to see you cover the Realm Gate Wars in this level of detail. That seems like an event thats largely been swept aside but is still massively important.
Love this long form content, and your return to the Mortal Realms made me want to watch your videos again. Please more!!!
I would love to see more videos like this! It's nice to hear about the battles and the short term goals of factions but to see the leaders and factions overall motivations is a great treat.
More to come!
This was a very interesting approach to a video. I liked the personal touch and how I now have a much better understanding of Sigmar as a character. I hope that you can do more of these if the numbers aline. Best of luck with your continued war gaming endeavours!
Yeeeesssssss! Not only was this cool, I love listening to long lore videos. More nuance the better! Great work!
Hot damn! AoS lore!
Love this format. Can't wait for a nurgle perspective.
me: *temporarily forgets what I'm listening to while hobbying*
Doug: "Everybody flees One Direction"
me: "sounds about ri-oh wait, this is a war in Age of Sigmar"
With all my heart, I want to believe in the success of *Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin* RTS computer game.
There is a heavy burden on the developers: they have to do the same thing that Dawn of War 1 once did for 40,000 - show everyone how Warhammer is really cool.
So now, for the love of Sigmar, all my best wishes to all who love Sigmar!
Just finished it and i love the format. Perfect for listening while painting. 40+ minutes for each of the major gods and pantheon characters is fitting and it's great tjat you're doing this 👍
Your narration style lends itself to these lore videos, making them relaxing, informative, and entertaining. Keep them coming! I would like to see something on how the Mortal Realms can exist as flat worlds, violating science, and how the remnants of the old world made it there. Seems a bit, well, contrived. Like they just transplanted Norse mythology, including the realm gates.
I loved this digestible history of the mortal realms. Thank you for creating this beautiful piece.
Great format mate, loved this and no need to apologise for longer videos, I'm sure many others along with myself really love and appreciate the work you put in and can't get enough so the longer the better! ^^ hehe. Great work one of these for each of the big names, then maybe smaller heros background would be awesome?
Doug...love the long from deep dive on AOS....great job....this is what our hobby group loves
I like Sigmar relenting his warrior role for a (god) diplomat, as it mirrors Karl Franz's personality from whence he's spawned
I love this new format. The broad strokes story of AoS makes me more intetested in the minutia. Keep up the great work my guy.
Amazing Video !!! More long form please ! Glad to see you are back. You got me to switch from 40k to AoS.
Love this video. Really helpful to follow the timeline from a fixed perspective to really give context to the events.
I think the matter of all the bonkers eldritch beings that originally ruled the realms was skipped over a bit much by the time we got to Sigmar and Nagash. That was probably one of the biggest reasons, this massive eldritch god from the void ruling it
I enjoy the format. I've listened to the video a few times over.
It would be interesting to hear the ones about the AOS Elven and dwarven deities.
As a death player I can't wait for the Nagash content.
I love this format please do one for the maggotkin I've already watched all your videos on them and I find it hard to find maggotkin lore
I love this long form video format! You could go even longer and I’ll be happy :) next one should be at least double the length
Same
Absolutely love this format, really looking forward to more of these videos!
Always love your videos, the depth and detail is top shelf. Please keep it up.
This is great mate!
Glad to see you’re doing this style of narrative review.
Love it! Love the new format, it really helps to bring the lore and world to life.
Really love this format of videos! Really hope you do it for the other factions!
Im here for it. I know very little of the aos lore and something like this is exactlynwhat i want
I like how Age of Sigmar is slowly sliding into a free-for-all. Every Chaos and Order faction for itself.
Well a great battle is approaching, chaos is slowly readying it forces as the three eye king prepare his army's to clash with the shadow the fate deciding who to lead chaos, order prepare it blade rallying there forces, while ignoring the dangers that lie in shadow and blood, destruction runs rampant like a mighty war beast realise after a blood scent, and death shall soon scream as there dead God returns once again.
Awesome video! Definitely would watch more of these
Well its been entertaining even if I ve already watched all your videos, so congrats! It summarizez all the lore from a faction in one single video which is handy
If I recall correctly, Sigmar found Nagash and was thinking about what to do because he knew how evil he was, but he was powerful as well, and there were plenty of those God Beasts runing around. In some book, there were some recollections of Nagash of him and Sigmar fighting back to back against them. Did Sigmar not find Nagash before any other god?
Namely they were hardly imaginable monsters from the void iirc. It’s what Nekroheim is made from.
Really really excited for this series. Can't wait for whatever is next! Also, welcome back sir! You have been missed.
Loved it! If these are too much effort though I'd love a run down of the new boxes they replaced the start collecting boxes with. Either way I'll keep watching
Great video! All the images helped make it enjoyable to watch 🙂
Hey man! Long time watcher, first time commenting. I loved the new format! As an sce player I might be biased but I think this is so good! I appreciate the long time format
Great video! Looking forward to the eventual/hopeful Sylvaneth video. They have a very interesting narrative.
This is great for listening to while working out. Great stuff.
I really enjoyed this style of video. I would love if you did more! Maybe nagash next and through the soul wars until his defeat by teclis
More of types of videos about age of sigma would be wonderful, you truly are the best CZcamsr for getting into the setting
This is a great video concept, please continue with these!
Love it!! I would be super hyped for anything from the idoneth deepkin perspective as I think they’re the most interesting faction
Honestly a Nagash or Morathi video in this format would be neat.
Love this format. Thank you!
Very good video, great format! One of the only thing I hate about Sigmar is the fact that he dont have a AOS model.
Love the lore videos, look forward to more
Love the format, my dude
Man I love this way, i know hoe it´s hard to make a video like thi, but i love it a great summary of the whole Sigmar world.I love your content man, good job
That’s a great video format! I like the point you put in!
Incredible, I hope you do this to Gorkamorka, although there might not be as much content in that unfortunately
I love these lore bits of sigmar and other gods would love to see more aos lore besides standard gods.We still havent seen what dawi zharr and their dark god are doing yet but i do know grungi crushed him in the age of myth.Currently im reading profits ruins book and just love that they have native gods that fell to old world gods or chaos.
Hashut is out there. A warband was one of the first of the new Warcry edition
The one, the best, the truest AoS lore master returns! 🙌
Love this perspective video! Looking forward to more!
Sigmar needs to be the schizophrenic primarch of the 11 just in his own little world while in the black cells
Loved this format
Heck yeah, that's a fresh look: never thought that the Age of Chaos would have been the Golden Era for a chaos champion who's trying to reestablish it. 👏
Yessssss love this longer videos man big ups
Love this! Great job as always! ⚡️🤘🏻
Cant wait to paint to this video the permis sounds super cool
This was a great take. I am glad Sigmar released my ghouly faction. By that man a beer!
Sigmar made a mistake he shoulve crushed nagashes skull to dust and asked grungi to make an box that never opens
Might be late to the party, but I am enjoying this "Sigma perspective" videos
Damn this was amazing. Pls do one video for each pantheon god!
LOOOVE THIS FORMAT! Can't wait for more! Do one from Greyseer Thanqols POV!
It would be interesting to see a cohort if stormcast lead by the celestant prime to negotiate for the mortals still in the city where they are definitely being brutally enslaved otherwise
There is something to be said of if Signar knew Vulcatrix was too strong for him and so did he send Grimnyr to die taking out an enemy he did not want to deal with?
We loved the long videos
Good format. I dig long form lore videos
I hope you do a video on Gitmob Grots, now that they are making their debut in Gloomspite Gitz with Snarlfang Riders.
"For Sigmar and the EMPIER!"
Great stuff, more please!
Oh yea love this kind of content! Can wait for Gloomspite gitz time
Very good video would be nice to see ogor view!
Best lore vid you have done 👍👍👍👍👍
Very helpful anchor of a resource
Love your videos!
Loved the format, there was some clipping in the audio that you’ve never had before. But great otherwise 👌
Yes love it
Watch every video for those cats.
Could you do a video about the newly announced age of sigmar game?
I'm brand new to AoS, but is Sigmar actually playable at all in the game? If not why isn't he, and is he expected to be a playable model at some point? I've seen Archaeon but surprised to see no Sigmar.
He does no longer fight in wars yes
I personally believe that he remains in Realm of Azyr because he is too much valuable because if he would spawn somewhere else then everyone (Nagash, Archeon, Kragnos etc.) would try to take him down and maybe succeed which would mean end of Azyr and Stormcasts
Sooooo, basically what I’m getting is that GW really liked the emperor from 40k so they just did it again 😂
I really like the idea, but i dont know if there is enough content to make this for a lot of factions/people.
🔨🌩️
Format is cool, but the audio keeps skipping around for me making it hard to follow at points. Seems like just an editing error or maybe CZcams's just being weird. I don't see any skipping in the timestamps though.
Do you have a patreon with audio version ? I rather pay you then youtube for audio playing
I really like this. Seeing the setting from the perspective of the Great Alliance of Order, before they split from one into three grand alliances and Chaos.
Looking forward to the others, especially Gorkamorka. I wonder if any Orruks or Ogors made it to Azyr or did they all revel in the Age of Chaos?
Well there are Gartants that were brought to Azyr by the Twin Kings Gog and Mgog, they were Sigmar's Shield bearers, and the the Storm-Gargants that guard the Thunder Gates to Sigmaron. There might be Ogers there too
Awwww yesssss
