As a fan of The Hat, I imagine you're probably aware of Christys'. It's "one simple trick" to having a hat that is as close as to an actual modern Herbert Johnson as you can get.
@@HatLifeAdventures It depends. They are a very soft, floppy fur felt so they do behave a lot like the ones in the movies. Being a dress weight felt though they aren't particularly durable and tend to taper over time. (Although they can be reblocked of course.) The ones I recently purchased to sell on eBay are different from others I've worked with in the past. They are a little more red (I know HJ recently changed their felt after studying a vintage 1984 hat.) and come with a Dial of Destiny color ribbon that needs to be re-sewn to be screen accurate.
@@HatLifeAdventures It could be I just got a bad batch, or Christy's is intentionally trying to be a bit different from HJ since they are charging twice as much now. I can't imagine that under Michelle Poyer- Sleeman, Johnson would release anything that wasn't perfect.
