- To be honest, I was in the camp that said "no way, GM will never make it." Thank heavens I was wrong. The new Corvette is pretty much everything GM promised with a lower sticker price than I had projected and an interior worthy of a German supercar.

What really great about this video is it’s straight forward, informative and not over produced. There’s no distracting music and someone over embellishing and yelling at the camera like a circus barker. When you’re about to shell out what could exceed $100K, you just want straight hard facts, not tolerating someone not comfortable on camera or worst, a wanna be actor. Keep it coming.

@@TheTmat007 I dont even watch CZcams on my phone only on my PC and i have about 3 ad block extensions installed on chrome. Haven't watched an ad in years. This is pretty common and people still somehow make a killing doing this.

Sure. I find the adds frustrating while watching CZcams videos. But I also understand that it is one of the ways CZcams/CZcamsrs make money. And because of that, I sometimes allow the adds to run from beginning to end. I don't mind supporting people in achieving success...as long as they're doing so legally. What's more, I enjoy the contents they upload on CZcams.

This is the first time I've ever seen one with the blade on the side body colored and it looks just as good as I thought it would.
I forgot the NSX was still in production.... Who would pay 3x Corvette price for an NSX?
Honestly with all the dealer markup crap, some of these new corvettes are selling for more money than a used NSX. Some C8s are going as high as 131k.
they both suck in equal measure but at least there are plenty of used Vettes
Once the C8 came out everybody else forgot about the NSX also.

Finally great deaign and speed and handling
I dream of owning a Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0, but for significantly less money and more performance, a C8 2LT makes a big more sense to me. Also, far less costly maintenance on the C8 makes the choice even easier. GM has a winner with this one.
And per the front end not looking like a Corvette but the rear looking like one: I completely agree. I saw one of these in the wild a few weeks ago and as it was turning in front of me I thought it was a new Ferrari. Only when I saw the rear did I know what it was.
I own the Convertible C8 and I though the rear end initially looked too big and a bit cluttered. I got mine without the spoiler and removed the corvette scrip on the back and it made a big difference, although more people mistake it for a Ferrari. I owned a new Ferrari California T convertible and the C8 looks more like a Ferrari than my real Ferrari.
Good, practical review. Don't need to harp on top speed like so many other reviewers.
Who's harping on top speed? It does 194 mph (310kph), no one is saying that's slow. This is the base model as well. A mustang with similar hp only does like 170ish comfortably. This isnt even the fast corvette. 1000hp hybrid is coming.
It's also the only supercar [ according to me] with cooled sport bucket seats

I think there are 2 issues:
1) Like the Civic Type R, there is massive hype for this car so supply won't match demand for a few years. And used prices won't settle for a while after that.
2) Used Corvettes are notoriously hard to buy because their owners overvalue them. The demographics of C8 buyers will hopefully change that but it could continue.
@@faeinthebay Yep correct on all accounts. I'm just hoping that I can find a gently used 2022 model in a few years and skip the curb tax and dealership markups though. I think unlike the Civic Type R, which is the econobox's halo model, these regular Stingrays will hopefully devalue once the Z06 and Zora models are released.

Love the stealth bomber angles on the front hood. The C8 is the best value for performance per dollar of any vehicle made, including EVs. And it looks the part !

I saw an orange C8 yesterday....damn, that’s one sexy car. It really stands out and looks amazing. For the price, it really can’t be beat. Badge snobs might turn their noses up, it the base performance and looks are amazing.
Yup, the car is a beauty, outstanding value too... I think they made the wheels on this first gen look like cheap rent-a-wheels on purpose though, as it leaves loads of room for improvement with future refreshes..

It is amazing you, Alex, did not have to bring the vehicle on the trailer to your property due to extremely low ground clearance but I guess adjustable suspension helped.

I am so enthralled by the C8 Corvette. Obsessed is more like it. While the Stingray is a very capable supercar in its own right, I am absolutely head over heels for the Z06. The sound of that flat plane crank V8 and the added savage horsepower truly befits the looks of the C8. I hope that the stars align for me in the near future so that I can eventually pick one up.

Alex is the best car reviewer hands down. No other person here on CZcams has this kind of knowledge of mechanical engineering "how stuff works". This is giving him an edge compared to others. My other favorites are Sofyan Bay from Redline and Matt Maran Motoring.

Nice to see that there's only a $12,000 delta between the base model. and the top level LT3 trim. The Europeans more than double the price of the base models if you spec them out to the max. I understand that those cars offer a variety of drivetrain options, but at the end of the day, a C Class is still a C Class.

When the C8 was introduced at $60K for a legit supercar, there was speculation the supercar companies could be in trouble. Mclaren is now on the edge of bankruptcy. They blame Covid-19 but cars have been selling well (especially the C8) for the last year so that can't be it
slight price difference between a Mclaren and just another GM sportscar. McLaren is rare, exotic and for the most part, handmade. the high price plus the used car market would have lots of low km cars. The corvettes are too over-produced to gain supercar status plus there is nothing really that special about them other than the mid-engine and that doesn't make the car a supercar otherise the Pontiac Fiero would have been a supercar too! lol I have owned several true supercars and the feeling of driving something rare that isn't normally found on the roads is like a high. lots of people came up to me saying my car was their dream car. No one I know says that about the C8. You will see 10 of them in a 15 minute drive within a year.

I love the design! I know Chevy always releases a "vanilla version" initially until the true design, which would be the Z06 comes out. I can't wait to see that version with the ground effects, proper wheel size and design.... and performance.
GM is on a roll. I'm hoping the Z06 will be in striking distance of my wallet.

Having seen a few of these already, they are real head-turners.
Yes I do like the body colored side and rear vents a lot better. The look in person is like the designers combined the best elements of a C2 and C7, I just wish the rear taillights were circular though I can see why they stuck with the angular look.

I agree with your opinion of the wheels Alex. I myself would put a set of those lovely ZR-1 wheels chrome and all! The mid range (2lt) would be my preference as well. With a as tested price around $76K....While expensive I dare you to come up with another sports car that'll match it's performace with the optional Z-51 package is how I'd go. Simply put...A outstanding sports car @ this price point.
It's the only thing that GM hasn't screwed up in the last 50 years.

@@weirdshibainu All the super cars have gone that route because as Porsche has shown, you simply cannot react as quickly as a computer shifting a PDK trans. When the manually operated car loses every single time to the same car with the auto, (which it does) the argument for the manual goes out the window.
@@joskjj3625 GM had everything, but they smugly sat by while the competition was eating their lunch. They had the dealer network, the engineers, the manufacturing facilities, and ALL the money in the world, and they pissed it all away to the point where today they struggle to even compete.

That front end could actually accommodate one, or two, electric motors up there. That would really bring it into the Supercar stratosphere.
Hmmmmm, Zora Duntov aka Father of the Corvette wanted a mid engined layout since the 50's. They did at least 4 prototypes over the years with one sporrting a quad rotor engine. Can you imagine?
Comparison with Porsche 911 and the Corvair are also moot. They're rear engined, not mid engined. I'm glad you did mention the age gap too. The car also comes with two types of suspension tune, the default setting is understeer, but there is also a track setup the dealer can do for you at delivery. I believe it has nearly 3-3.5 degrees of negative camber to the front amongst other the things.
My husband and I are disappointed that you didn't try to get in the frunk :p
