Raja sir also appreciated the picturization of vata patra saiki.. He said.he thinks.... This is an ordinary song. After the picturization of the song by Viswandh sir, he literally tears. That's the greatness of viswanadh sir.
Even as a kid, I quickly learnt to watch IR's movies with my eyes closed. Visuals were either a distraction, or just plain boring. Thanks for all these insights into behind the scenes stories of some of Telugu language's best musical work. I think Vamsi garu got just plain lucky. Every single one of his movies with IR is a musical masterpiece.
Excellent explanation. I am from Andhra Pradesh , I watched all the movies and enjoyed lot in my childhood days. Still ILAYARAJA is GOD to me and music lovers in Telugu states. Even I watch all Tamil movies and the talent in Tamil Nadu is abundant. I feel there is no cultural and emotional difference between 4 south states except language.

One movie that shocks me till date is K.Viswanath's Swarna Kamalam, i can't imagine how Raja sir gave such a divine music, crossing the barrier of language. KB sir's Rudraveena is another masterpiece album that fetched National award to Raja sir.

Since we listen to Tamil songs many many number of times as compared to other language songs, it appears that Raja has done better songs in other languages....He has given same effort and commitment to all films...We can tell hundred Raja songs in Tamil which can't be compared in other languages....Since he wants each tune to be unique we can't expect the same melody in two languages unless it is intentional.
While it is fact that Raaja doesn't differentiate language, director, actor, budget etc when composing, Raaja has given outstanding music to many Telugu movies, maybe because of their themes were based on dance, singing etc.
💯, I am Tamilian grew up in a district in Karnataka bordering Andhra and fortunate to enjoy and grow listening to Raja's music in all these languages. Due to the volume of work in Tamil atleast 100-200 times more than in other language, his outstanding music in Tamil sometimes gets cannabalized by his own variety of music in Tamil. The volume of songs in Telugu and Kannada is smaller compared to Tamil and they stand out.
In all he has given a treasure in every language and the winners are the lucky fans like us, let's continue celebrating this genius
Telugu and Kannada songs were fewer in number but almost all hits. They sounded different to Tamil because of difference in nativity. Lucky are those who enjoy his work in all languages - best of all worlds.

Excellent analysis sir....@5:14, kinnerasaani song was recorded for "Sagara sangamam" but not included finally and then in "Sitara". Director vamsy and illayaraja combination is the best as far as songs, BGM and creativity. K. Raghavendra Rao, A. kodanda ramireddy... illayaraja... chiranjeevi films are commercial blockbusters. Kalathapasvi K. Vishwanath garu... illayaraja combination started with Sagara sangamam...(Thats the best work for illayaraja sir,k. It's not only because of Ilayaraja's music. Telugu language is the sweetest language that's most suitable for music. Which is why many Carnatic keertanas that became popular were in Telugu language.
