  • hey guys so you asked for it and here it is, the Ultimate spray sealant test putting bowdens own bead machine up against Turtle Wax hybrid solutions ceramic spray coating, meguiars hybrid ceramic wax, Mothers CMX, NV Jet, Carpro Reload and I also did a bonus section with some Carpro cquartz UK 3.0 ceramic coating.
    this is the 10 week update of the products that were applied to the test panel.
    if you would like to support the channel and help me buy more products to test then feel free to head over and buy me a beer at my buy me a coffee page
    www.buymeacoff...
    if you've ever wondered which of these spray sealants is the best or longest lasting then this is the video series for you.
    also if you had wondered how a real ceramic coating performs when compared to a spray ceramic then I also hope to find that out too.
    make sure you subscribe to keep up to date with these videos as each week we will wash, rinse and then check the water behaviour on each product to see how they are lasting

    I think call it at 3 months, Bowdens seems to be the clear winner. Realistically, nearly all the products are at the point where you'd want to re-apply anyway. Really liking that you've used a real world testing approach by leaving the panel out in the elements for weeks.

      Agree with this for practicality. Unless you wanted to leave it out for a 6 month assessment but reality is there wouldn’t be much of change as they have all started to drop off. It’s been awesome watching this test so thanks for your efforts here

    I love how accurate yoiu are in your testing, it's like im doing it with my detail oriented brain, very very useful, i have CMX and love it, but now I know I need to redoe every 8weeks for perfect results. but the Ceramic coating is amazing on the side, it's like the first day. Amazing, I think it's better in the long run, but at the same time we love applying it every now and then, lets be honest :))))

    The inconsistency in the flooding is from the tape mate, use a tad thicker tape next time then peel it off before you start testing them and you'll see the gaps, only thing is you might need a liquid chalk marker to write on the panel since there would be no tape

    • @EvolvedDetails
      @EvolvedDetails  Před 2 lety +1

    Thank you. 😁👍. The tilt of the test panel flatter than normal? Did that contribute to the water sheeting "hang time" on the panel ? 🤔

      Yeah I think you might he right as I had it a little further up towards the garage for this video it seems so possibly a little flatter. Also the tape didn't help either

    Would love to see the new Meguiar's hybrid paint coating if you decide to do another one after this. Looks to be really good and more on the level of a proper ceramic coating but don't know it that's just marketing.

    The tape creates surface tension, so kinda hard to judge the sheeting speed.

      Yeah I started removing the tape in my tests after this for that reason

  • @andrewh9629
    @andrewh9629 Před 2 lety

    Mate I think the wierd flooding has something to do with the tape degrading. Wet degraded tape tends to hold the water and stop the sheeting from beginning. I think the water repellency you did near the end would be giving the best indication. Cheers
    I'd say remove the vertical dividing tape and just do a monthly quick update.
    Have bowdens bead on my car glad to see it win.

    • @EvolvedDetails
      @EvolvedDetails  Před 2 lety +1

      I'd say the tape degrading is just from sitting in the sun for almost 3 months now, but yeah next test I'm going to use thicker tape so there's a clear gap between each product and then remove it after application.
      Bead machine has definitely shown how good it is in this test and will continue in other tests now to continue comparing

      The tape gives the water something to hold onto so to speak, which is why you see the sheet separating in the middle not at the edges. To get a good indication whether the product is still actively repelling the water you need to leave a small section where the water doesn’t spread to

  • @vipergtsr
    @vipergtsr Před 2 lety

    Loved seeing the results so far. I'm surprised Reload failed so quickly, any chance it's because it was originally designed to go on top of a ceramic coating and that it simply fails to bond to the panel as well? Would be interesting to see some of these products layered on top of ceramic, and whether there is actually a difference or not.

    • @EvolvedDetails
      @EvolvedDetails  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks mate, so you might be right but I have had a few people saying they stopped using Reload on tip of their ceramic coating as it was masking the better water behaviour of the coating itself.
      I'm definitely keen to do a test in the future checking that though

    • @vipergtsr
      @vipergtsr Před 2 lety

      @@EvolvedDetails no worries. I'd imagine pretty much any spray would mask the water behaviour of ceramic right? Guess you're trading off water behaviour for extra protection on top of the coating

    • @EvolvedDetails
      @EvolvedDetails  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah that's what I want to find out as some claim to enhance the coating.
      But really I don't think putting toppers makes the coating last any longer as the first time I coated my car it lasted right around 18 months before I noticed any real drop in performance and at the 2 year mark I removed and recoated.
      That entire time I was using carpro hydro2 to top the coating at least once a month so this time I'm avoiding using toppers as much as possible but just focusing on keeping the car washed and maintained to see if there's a noticeable difference

  • @watchingvideos4498
    @watchingvideos4498 Před 2 lety

    I think you should end it at the 3 month point but maybe do multiple washes then dry it each time to simulate the 2 week intervals

  • @jethrox827
    @jethrox827 Před 2 lety

    3 months should do it, I've got the turtle and meguires and got sucked into the hype, I can't get much more than 6 weeks out of them on the hood, maybe the heat from the motor on the hood degrades it or the pressure of rain hitting at speed. My evo is parked inside and both last forever cause their not in the weather I assume. I wouldn't buy any of them again unless it's the real stuff like in your corner

    • @EvolvedDetails
      @EvolvedDetails  Před 2 lety

      Yeah it seems most people think the 3 month mark should be the end. They definitely didn't last as long as the coating but some of them are easy to apply and you'd get many applications from a bottle so they still have their place in the market for sure

  • @Saddedude

  • @jameshind6644
    @jameshind6644 Před 2 lety

    This very similar to what others are doing on CZcams. You maybe better to remove the tape and use a paint pen to mark what is what and at the same time angle the panel to give a fairer comparison by allowing the water to run off easier.

    • @EvolvedDetails
      @EvolvedDetails  Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah most are doing the torture tests which I don't really see as useful but real world tests of washing each week are far more indicative of what to expect on which product is best.
      Will definitely be removing the tape in future tests though

    That Bowdens has got to the most confusing coating I've seen. Completely inconsistent results, even back to back within minutes...
    I'm pretty sure the Meguire's Green bottle hybrid is "better". Have you used or tested that? I've been a big fan of the Turtle Wax Hybrid Flex spray. Long term durability hasn't been an issue, but it's quick to use as drying aid every 4-6 weeks. However, once it's winter here, it will have to wait longer...

    • @EvolvedDetails
      @EvolvedDetails  Před rokem +1

      It was the tape I left on causing inconsistency as it happened to multiple products in multiple videos until I stopped leaving the tape on for my future tests.
      The bowdens ended up winning this test and the next one against graphene products and currently in second against another batch of sealants.
      I did compare the meguiars green detailer one against a bunch of other ceramic detailers if you scroll back through my uploads

  • @XxDonniex
    @XxDonniex Před 2 lety

    To my understand, the Bowdens is just a regular sealant, not a ceramic wax and does not have SiO2 correct?
    So does it have the same level of paint and sun protection?

    • @EvolvedDetails

      As the paint had just been compounded and polished I couldn't really see a standout if I'm honest as all looked extremely glossy but so did the freshly polished paint.

      Obviously with there being professional only coatings offered by carpro it's not going to be the nest quality but for something anyone can buy it's definitely reccomended
