However the media is not biased against Haitians but dominicans who openly denounce mistreatment and persecution against them are threatened and accused of being "Traitors". Meanwhile as this guy correctly points out Dominicans have a population of 15-16% white (in case you haven't noticed 15% is greater than the 12% black population of the US - and we don't simply call the US a white nation do we).

History and geography define borders... If you look at US States, you'll notice the straight and 90 degree angled corners of many states because they were organized into territories and later states when they were mostly unexplored. Small countries like the DR have multiple states because of how spread out the country is and even at times lack of communication from higher ups in the chain of command.

Some Facts about the Dominican Republic.
    - The 1st immigrant in the United States was Dominican, Juan (Jan) Rodriguez. Born in Santo Domingo. (Yes, before the Dutch)
    - One of the only countries to declare war on Hitler during ww2, to which he asked to be shown on the map where DR was. (upon seen the size of the island, he was left dazed & confused & this moment was used to score some victories by the allied forces :-)
    - Hatuey (native american-DR) went to Cuba to warn them of the Conquistadores & is considered their 1st national hero.
    - General Maximo Gomez (Dominican) Helped Cuba fight for their independence.
    - Carbine San Cristobal(machine gun), built in DR, was shipped to Cuba during their revolution.
... Did we ever get a thank you?.. Cuba?
    - During WW2, the DR had one of the strongest military in Latin America.
    - All the Spanish conquests during colonial times were planned in Santo Domingo.
    - Both Christopher Columbus and Eugenio Maria de Hostos (Puerto Rico), wished to be buried in Dominican Rep.
    - Cricket is played in DR, but we call it La Plaquita.
    - Has the 9th largest economy of Latin America and largest in the caribbean (even though its not an oil producing country)
    - During the era of Trujillo, the national debt was at $0.00 balance (IMF wasnt too happy)
    - Colon, tu maldita madre! (Mother F*&%).. Were Caonabo's words to Christopher Columbus. (Caonabo was a Taino Cacique - Ruler)

guys you have made a tremendous work investigating and you got all the points right, and you were considerate enough to recognize the subjects where things get into the gray area. Also my special congratulations for the narrator, very fast speaker and entertaining. (only 1 thing "quemi" is wrong we say "que me importa?" like regular spanish and when we want to shorten we say "me importaaaa" (i care) to mean "no me importa" (i don't care). Yes it might be confusing, but dominicans say positive to mean negative and the opposite depending of the context of the conversation and the tone we use.

The narrator of these videos is one of the fastest English speakers. I have a little bit of a problems keeping up myself. Too much information in too short of a time to be able to digest it all.

But I did recall you saying in a previous episode that this is Geography Now opposed to History Now, inthe previous episode the knowledge was more effective with the formation of the country. The research and amount of time/energy it takes to put together one of these videos is hard and long already tough when you explained some of the history of each nation the episode becomes much more absorbing! The whole reason of not telling people what 'race' they are, is because it creates more division! So when they ask you, you just say "I'm Dominican"... Many Dominicans (specially from El Cibao) have middle eastern ancestry and some of them are not even 'mixed' till this day, so it would be very tacky and presumptuous to tell one of them they MUST identify as black/taíno or European when they know where their family came from; the same can be said about Japanese and Chinese Dominicans (Which are a very small minority)... In short, Dominicana created the perfect formula to integrate all possible races without making one or the other feel like they are outsiders and it seems to ONLY make sense to us.
So yeah gringos, STOP telling us who we are! We know where our relatives came from. ✌
