That Knights Templer Cross on the round stone is my favorite. Al, NJ,USA.
Thanks John for sharing part of your collection! I hope we get to hear for sure about as many as can be checked out...I am so envious that I am no longer there to help find such treasures...my son has been sick so I have yet to try out my Deus 2....maybe there till be Spanish treasure in my yard...LOL...Take Care and be safe on your trip!
A brilliant history lesson as always!! Great to see all those finds again, I remember you finding all of them as if it was yesterday! Can't wait to find out what the museum has to say! Looking forward to more videos soon! See you on the next dig!!
Awesome awesome awesome. There was a hammered coin to the bottom right of the Spanish hammered that had a slightly different cross and dots on it. I kept pointing and saying “that one” but you didn’t listen. Oh well. Fantastic as always and thank you for showing and sharing. Can’t wait for your next few videos. Take care 😊
Gosh what a collection, so many intriguing finds, boy are you in for a exiting time finding out what some of the mystery is behind the finds. Thank you for showing us and taking us on your journey .
I have learned more history from you than I ever did at school many moons ago .😊
Same right
You could start your own museum with that treasure John.
Haha 😜 maybe they’ll name a museum wing after me Tony 🤣
That's some collection!!! There's some that wouldn't amass that in a lifetimes Detecting. I loved the video of you finding that Gold. Definitely one of my Favourite vids. Well done as Always John and keep the content coming!!
Many thanks my friend. Ahh that gold and those hammered coins. I lost the ability to talk or walk and had a wee cry too, but it was tears of joy!! So a very happy moment in my life! Thanks for the kind words!! And happy hunting
@thescottishdetectorist that's what it's all about. Everytime we hit those fields we're looking for that feeling 😊
Amen!!! I’ve had some great days that have left me in an emotional wreck!! Happy times!!
I cant wait to see what the museim think about the rock with the cross on it.. definitely has the potential to be very rare and important, good luck!
Many thanks. Yes I love the rock!! I call it ‘the holy hand grenade’ 😛 I also love the wee lead figure and the fish!! Hope they all turn out to be epic!!
When do you plan to start building your tractor from all your found bits? 😀
We have the same issue in Norway. Some of the finds will be stored for many years at the museum. But my bronze Axe was quickly pushed through the system and was completed within 1,5 years and is now in the collection! I was invited to come in and check on the progress after 1 year.
Omg John I am so excited! Can’t wait for any type of feedback on some of these items. I’m grateful that you take a GPS signal when you find things so that archeologists can pinpoint where to do possible excavations in the future. I’m sure you’ll agree that Gorgeous George looks much better on gold and silver coins. 😂 Thanks for another great video!
So glad you have been blessed with treasures. You are just the man to make sure they are handled properly!!! Thanks as always for taking us along!!! 🥰🥰🤣
hadrian's wall goes from bowness on solway to wallsend not from barrow in furness which is the southern end of cumbria
So many interesting finds you’ve made on the fields of Perthshire. You could have your own museum. I wish we could go along to hear what they have to say about them. Does it take along time for them to decide if they want them? Do they pay you for what they keep permanently? Either way enjoy your showing… John
I really hope the museum show their gratitude to you, you do all the hard time consuming work for them,
In my opinion they should be paying you for it due to the content you provide the museum.
They arent out on the fields in the freezing cold digging holes come rain or shine.
They owe you so much
Bravo John I have nothing but respect for your professionalism in this hobby and the presentation of your videos. Even though Pauline and I have watched dig up all of these items over the last 12 months in individual videos it was fascinating to see how many there were when compiled together in one place and most of perfect quality, incidentally I’m also a little envious 😢
I believe that the Auld Lang Syne pipe bowl is also masonic. During the Feast of Saint John the Evangelist on December 27th of each year, which is celebrated in most American Masonic Lodges, the brethren gather round and hold hands and sing For Auld Lang Syne towards the end of the night. Robert Burns was also a Freemason.
Would love to see the museum and how they process finds, most museum's have videos of there's
I remember you finding many of those items :-) I don't remember the fish however. Safe travels to the museum!
Hi, the flint look like it might have come from the ancient flint mines at Boddam, near Peterhead: the colour looks right. And not too far away from Perthshire. Wonderful video, it's amazing to see so many of them together!
Ahh, good to know!! I knew we had some flint but didn’t know how comparable it was in colour or quality to English flint
Wonderful to see the whole collection. Loved the “Viking” fish. Can’t wait to hear what the museum thinks.
My family emigrated from Perth in 1957, John but despite having spent so many years in Australia, I have always felt very connected to Perthshire. It's somehow a deep spiritual feeling and the artifacts you discover, link me to all the people who lived there over the ages. Some of them probably relatives! Thank you for your program and the responsible way you go about your quest. Jenny
Looks like WE WILL ALL HAVE TO STAY SUBSCRIBED until the museum backlog is caught up. Their assessment should be interesting.
I love those Roman silver ingots.
Great video! I hope you'll consider doing a video about what the museum says about some of your finds - even though they may be 2+ yrs behind the curve. The history lessons that you share are welcomed.
wow incredible
Thanks Anthony
Wow that’s an incredible amount of fantastic finds 😍 which I remember all of and can’t wait to hear the outcome of what the museum has to say. We visited The London British museum at the weekend and went in to see the Roman Empire temp. exhibition - there were Dice there just like your and the Roman coins. Do you not wash your lead finds and if not - why? Good luck John 🤞
Holy cow John. What an impressive collection. I have seen every video, but when you put it all together, it’s amazing and incredible to see it all together. And the history? Impeccable! Thank you.
Hi John what a very interesting collection and lovely to see. may it continue for a long time for you 2024 GREAT kind regards
I’m lucky to find something that dates to the late 1800s. This collection just boggles my mind.
not a bad year john watch all of them well done young man
Great video
What and interesting collection
No wonder your hooked , it’s the best hobby to get the adrenaline working
Well you said it fantastic! Fun to see some items I’ve forgotten about! Good luck at the museum ❤
John,
Wonderful Goods and Treasures, BTY IV is 4.
Your still the most knowledgeable Citizen of the UK that I have had the pleasure of watching hunt for Treasure.
Nice to c the finds again in collection. Im waiting to c followup what the museum have to say about all of these finds
Would have been intresting to c when u give these to museum. Hooefully they let u film that proces in some point👍. 👋🇫🇮
Absolutely fascinating! We watch your videos from the fields of Perthshire! Thank you so much for all your work in preserving history. Greetings from south western Ontario 🇨🇦 Canada!
Give John a thumbs up for this one!👍
What a collection! I remember the videos where these finds were showcased. Brilliant all of them! I am willing to bet a pint or two (LOL) that the museum will be more than delighted to see your collection and I hope you post a video with their identification of the finds you weren't able to identify yourself. It is always a wonderful history lesson watching you on the fields of Perthshire and I am always happy to help you identify finds if I can. Well done, darlin'!💖💖💖
I'm excited to hear what the museum has to say about your finds. Keep on, John. Always good videos from the Scottish detectorist.
Aww its sad that we wont get to see the reactions from the people at the museum but I also understandable that the staff might not want to be on youtube, I hope it goes well.
I did say I’m happy not to film faces at the museum and so on but they still weren’t keen, oh well!! Maybe another time
I hope you get to keep some interesting, valuable things. I remember you finding them. Lovely finds and their history. Hopefully they will let you film like before.
Brilliant John fantastic finds came down through Perthshire today was looking in all the fields lol
Thanks for the update! Will be exciting to learn more about some of your treasures.
my favourite item is the stone with the cross, just incredible finds congratulations on all the great things.
Nice reminder John. Looking forward to hearing the results from museum .
Fantastic collection
Such an amazing collection John, really enjoyed watching you find them and to see them all together like this. The museum will have a great time going through them all. Look forward to (hopefully!) hearing what they think. I agree a video of the process would be a good idea, not only to help those wishing to hand items in, but for people like me who find the whole thing interesting.
Love it… so much knowledge and history. Love the hat too 👌🏻✨😎
Wow. Incredible finds.
One of the mysterius objects must be a honey dipper.
I love your videos. Nice and lots of history
Wow you save a lot of history in twelve months and some very cool items in your case all hole definitely matter ( I know I sound like the Hoover boys we both watch them constantly lol) you should get Kurt over there he would freak out finding something over 800 years old…. Thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏼👊🏼
Love it! Very lucky to have found such beautiful treasure
Amen! Some really great finds and I hope that little lead figure is Roman and the fish is Viking 😈
They sure look like they could be! would you let us know what the museum think?
I’ll try and put up a wee video tomorrow if I can!
Ohh my word 😻 I’d love to be a fly on the wall in Chambers Street today 🙌🏻
John, that is quite a collection of treasures. I'm proud to say that I've been watching your channel for so long I can remember seeing you find most of them. I'm very glad that you are turning them in for investigation, and I can't wait to hear hold old many of them are.
Well done and good luck!
Thank you John for the video. It will be most interesting to hear what the museum thought of the finds. It will also be most interesting to hear what you get to keep or what the value would be. Here in America there are not laws that I am aware of where the government gets to decide what is the property of the finder or the government. I have found a few items that I took to the local historical associations to find out what they were, and even donated a couple of items to the Ft. Concho Museum, just because they were related to the actual time period they are associated with. Cheers from Texas, and I'm looking forward to the next video, and eventually to the reports from the museum.
Wow!some amazing specimens. Maybe next time I visit the museum, one or two might be there.
What an amazing collection!!! Will be interesting to hear what the museum tells you about some of your finds… well done John👍 hope you find more historical treasures this year.
That's a beautyful collection👍🏻
Would be interesting to hear, what the Guys at the Museum will tell about these finds 🍀👏🏻
Awesome finds
Thanks Jay. Some great finds and I look forward to learning more about a few mystery finds
Excellent as always, John! You're a scholar and a gentleman, pal!
Well. That was thrilling. Thanks John.
Absolutely remarkable finds John - good luck!
Can't wait to hear what the museum has to say! So much history & beauty unearthed by you, thanks for sharing!
Exciting! Looking forward to the follow up.
Thank You John!
Hope you enjoyed Peggy
Thanks for the video. So many pieces.
Love your collection! It will be exciting to hear what happens.
Hi John, love watching your vids. Your so knowledgeable so love learning all the history from you too. Really looking forward to seeing what the museum can tell you about your finds.
From Anjie in Methven New Zealand
Great selection of finds. Good luck at the museum.
Amazing seeing so much history!! Great presentation, as always.
Wonderful overview of the finds you have there in Scotland. Most enjjoyable, and I do think the TreasureTrove systems in the UK are to be admired.
Great video John. That is some collection to hand in. 👍
Brilliant John, just Brilliant mate, unbelievable hard work, i know this is a hobby/ interest, but as a lover of Scottish history, you are keeping alive the past!
Thanks John for sharing this with us.Excellent.
Have a safe trip. Good luck😊
Many thanks!! Much appreciated
Well done & great videos too. I really appreciate the history lessons as you go.
One thing I'd like to ask is about, which you've just mentioned; the Museum needs a "10m grid reference" for each find. I haven't heard you talk of this requirement before. Could you expand on this in future videos please?
I make a What3words entry (location accurate to within 3m, a photo & a brief description) for each find I make but I never hear of other detectorists doing anything similar which I find very strange. I can see on a map where all my finds have been made, showing me 'hot spots' or empty spaces.
All the best.
Holy cow! Amazing 😍
Thanks Tanja. Hope you enjoy!!
what a fantastic video John
Enjoy your trip! 😊 Wonderful finds! ❤
Thanks Maureen! Much appreciated
Amazing finds, you are so lucky😀
Blessings, my Scottish Detectorist friend, from this old man in Tennessee. Thanks for sharing this with us. Perhaps the museum will have some reports on what you passed on to them last year. Awesome, as ever.
And it would have been great PR for the museum. Missed opportunity there. Fantastic finds John and I think I watched you find most of those. The big Queen Elizabeth is stunning and I can't imagine how anyone could lose that!
What a wonderful collection! (BTW, IV would be 4 in Roman numerals.)
Ahhh!! Of course it is!! 😜 maths never a strong point 🤣 glad you enjoyed
@@thescottishdetectorist Do you have any idea what that object with the hole in might be at 15' 06" into your video (on the table just to the right of your hand)? I found something very similar so I was intrigued to see you'd featured in your collection.
You are my favourite JOHN!
Wow what a collection, very impressive!
I really enjoyed this video John. What a stunning collection and I look forward to see the feed back for some of these items if any. As always my favourite bits are the history and knowledge you share with us. Thank you
Yes, yes, yes...
Just what I was hoping for. Fascinating!!! Still curious about the woman's ring you found about a year ago; blue stone, unknown age.
Thank you for this most informative video!
I am constantly amazed with your finds. Absolutely stunning. I can not wait to hear what the museum has to say.
You are such a great historian. Love listening to you tie the years and items together. Good Luck at the Museum.
Very nice collection
Thanks David. I sent the museum some pictures and they seem excited!
@@thescottishdetectorist lol I was thrilled looking at that too
Absolutely amazing collection of finds sir 👏👏👏
Many thanks 🤩
really amazing, watch your vids all. but to see it all together is mindblowing. great stuff.
Many thanks Rob. Some really great finds if I do say so myself!!
Awesome to see your amazing finds again, thanks for doing everything you do for the hobby!
Wow John! That's a beautiful collection of goodies!! Congrats Sir and good luck with the museum! Hope they make you rich!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice one John
It's great to see your treasures, so many interesting pieces. Looking forward to the exciting videos ahead!
Are you like me where Im extremely happy to find something, but after that it's just a historical object sitting around now...? Hahah im all about the journey, not the destination with most things in life 😆
I love the finding…. I then live showing it to other people and then happy to show it to others who might get as excited as I did finding it 🤣 it’s not about the money, just holding something that hasn’t seen the light of day in centuries or millennia is fun enough for me 😜
@@thescottishdetectorist yeah ive never sold anything ive found, i just love the research and going out and finding something you were looking for with such low odds
hi john im here
Hey Alan! Welcome
John - nice to see all of your finds laid out. Quite a year! I hope your meeting with Treasure Trove went well. I think another good point to mention as it relates to reporting finds from Scotland is that if you live outside of the country, any and all finds must be recorded with Treasure Trove prior to leaving Scotland. I found this out after I returned to the U.S. and followed up with TT with questions about some items I hadn't shown them when I was there. I have since sent back all of the items, so it all worked out, and they've been great to deal with. Anyway, just something I wanted your subscribers to know. Learn from my mistake.
Great amazing finds and your history knowledge is very informative. I've been watching Time team the archeology show. I think you have way more finds. Amazing 😊❤
