      I have noticed when I am out n about in the woods, that our climate near Pittsburgh, is right on time with Scotlands. The same flowers and mushrooms bloom at the same time. I used to watch a girl who went on walks around Scotland, took photos, and came home and painted them. I don't believe her channel is any longer active as she moved across Scotland. But I also photograph and paint flowers, bugs, mushrooms, ect that I find here. And low and behold every time she would be painting the same object as me the following week. I imagine it took her about a week to get the painting done and the video uploaded so that would make it the same time they popped up here. I plan on going to Scotland in 2025 or 2026, and hope to be able to confirm my suspicions. So you are absolutely right.. it is a Small world. Take care.

    What's understandable about the film ban here? Surely there could have been a discussion which permitted you from getting a visual record of the encounter, it is after all a public place. An agreement to film in a restricted fashion so as not to implicate or show interiours, people etc or even a vocal recording being granted wouldhave helped a lot. I probably would have vocally recorded anyway.

    Mitzi is a cutie. I spent many formative years playing in a museum. We lived on the University campus that my dad attended. They built a 3 story museum that my brother and I spent many hours in. Your museum is on my bucket list. I could probably spend a whole day in there, especially the basement.

  • @7cColin
    @7cColin Před 5 měsíci

    Well done John, great that you are reporting the appropriate finds, as should all who detect. Your fish reminds me of other Roman depictions of fish, with it's stylised shape and thick lips. Look forward to finding out what the experts say. It's a pity the Museum hasn't allowed you to film this time, the first time you did this was remarkably watchable, and memorable! Yes, I do understand the decision, but I think they are missing a PR trick there and increasing the distance between academia and the general public. Just my opinion. Ah well, there you are. You're doing a great job on this channel, more power to you.

    Thank you thank you for your devotion to keeping us supplied with video! I can’t imagine how much time you must spend filming and editing. It is all terribly fascinating. You are also the king of propriety regarding historic finds and sharing them with archeologists. A grand spokesman for doing the right thing for history. I am hoping that of the 183 items, some compensation might help with the equipment costs you must have. Knowledge is very satisfying, but a few pounds in the pocket must certainly be nice too. Thanks again from Canada!🎉❤ and you are right about the museum- after 3 hours we still had only done the Celtic section and a bit beyond. Days it would take us to get through it all! Next trip, I guess.

    Wow what a great trip to the museum! U lucky man. And Albert... Well . 😂 Anyway when you showed that little silver button the other day, I was really meaning to get on and tell you (except I was somehow unsubscribed) it's the exact correct size and shape for half a colonial era (in the USA) cuff link. They're always an oval shape rather than circular, and have somewhat of a shank on the back that is more like a glass button than a tomback or dandy style shank. This is where the u shaped link clipped in from either side of the u shape. There would be 3 or so small links between 2 identical pieces where you slip them in the button holes on your shirt cuff. Great find, silver and it broke the dry spell, so can't beat that. I apologize for not answering back on tictoc, I only have it on my Chromebook and my boyfriend's computer blew up. So he has had it and I haven't been able to get on. I did receive notification in email that you responded but I can not answer back that way, and I refuse to load It on my phones that have my banking aps. We've had a lot of issues here in the USA from the Chinese platform, and there's currently a bill to be passed that bans tictoc in the USA. So since I am a part time employee of the u.s. department of commerce I am forbidden to have it on my devices. 😅 Anyway, awesome finds.. can't wait to hear more about that fish! And what did they say, if anything, about that holy Grail.. or the dram that was found on the gallows site? Been wondering about those as well. And to be clear, did they take the items now, or do u take them back in 2 years when they're ready to go in front of the panel? 😅It is quite slow, but I imagine they get loads of artifacts being as the UK has so much history, and mudlarking and detecting are so prevalent there. So, understandable. Sad sad day when you broke your shaft too. Boy that sounds awkward, uh, well.😅 Anywho you know what I mean I hope. Thanks for another great video, and take care. I will get back with you on tictoc as soon as I'm able to get my laptop back. Happy Valentine's as well. And please remind your subscribers that CZcams seems to be unsubscribing people again. It's happened to me 8 times on different channels the past 3 years. Crazy I know. Have a good day.

    Wonderful stuff John.
    Not to be kept in anyone’s sock drawer.
    Did you know some archaeologists claimed in English parliament for metal detectorists to GPS point musket balls?
    If they are found in larger quantities that is. (Which you never know on the first ones)
    After a while you get some kind of picture of an eventual battle or skirmish that has taken place. (The direction of fire)
    Good luck John, also to the “monsters” that you’ve created. Pete, Albert, etc…. 😂

    Very close to 40k subs too! they really need to speed up the process or folks will just stop reporting finds. A few months is all it should take for the majority of finds, they're easily categorized and a decision to keep or not should be fairly straightforward. Years isn't reasonable. That museum is beautiful, it reminds me of a set where they recorded the show Penny Dreadful. Neat place, I'd love to visit!

      Me too Emily. The problem with it is, out of context…. How old might it be. Could even have been made last week, but fingers crossed it’s 1,000+ years old!!

      We don't have anything as old as Scotland or England other than arrowheads. Finders keepers here.

    He'll of a video John!! Being in US I also was hesitant about the treasure trove laws but you eplained quite a few of my concerns so Thank You Sir!! I myself believe if a find is more important to the treasure hunter then th monetary value you would recieve you should have an option to decline offers!! I'm sure there is a logic to their way of doing thins but I still find it a little one sided? Again a big Thank You and congrats also on all the fine finds you have shown us in past few years!!! Well appreciated for sure!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
