The funds of PS Plus are needed to keep upgrading the online servers. Plus, you don't need to have PS Plus, you can play plenty of games online without paying a cent.

All the free-to-play games, and a few Indie games. Triple A games are usually the ones that need PS Plus.
Super C Unfortunately, those AAA games are the only reason I would need the console, indie games come out on PC as well (my prefered platform), and I don't care about free-to-play games, so yeah, still sucks.
KuroNoTenno online only games don't require psplus. DC Universe, ESO, etc.

Daniel Lindberg Steam doesn't charge you to change your name and I haven't seen an problems with that. Xbox is the only one I know of that makes you pay to change your name.

I've had mine for 9 years and only had red ring once. But it survived and is still running to this day.
nickputman663 Had my 360 for 7 years. 1 RRoF and it survived, 1 laser scratched disc (The Xbox fell over) and I fixed it in GAME for £2. The Xbox still works. Not many problems.
Same, but my disc tray has started jamming and won't open unless I leave a disc in all the time otherwise it takes about 1000 presses of the eject button for it to eventually open. Kinda sucks but it's not to bad just got to always leave a disc in

Yeah I'm on my 5th 6th or 7th Xbox, I forget. But my current Xbox has been going strong for about 4 or 5 years. My disk tray doesn't open all the time as well but if I hit the top of the Xbox hard enough it opens lol

I've owned about 4 xbox 360s. 2 of them suffered through the red ring of death and the third stopped working due to dust getting stuck in the system. My current 360 scratches every disc I put in so hasn't been used in about 2 years. This is why I moved to Sony.

xbox overheating, xbox killing power supplies, xbox losing power for no reason, xbox just dying completely. xbox dying just outside of warranty, xbox live auto renewal which is nearly impossible to turn off, some games cant work without internet, videos need internet to play, loud, poor ventilation, customer service is awful, microsoft treat us like we should bow down to them, constant updates, forced ads downloaded which is bad for people with limited bandwidth like myself, random suspensions for no reason, yet people who hack never get suspended, complaints get you nowhere aside from and endless loop of useless information on "how to avoid certain players", costs 10 bucks to change your xbox name, god i could go on forever...
Pc is good so is ps3 and Xbox I like all of them just stop the console wars

i totally feel you,i always rage when i invite someone to play and they close the disk tray when its empty
Everybody, this one is easy to fix. It happens because with time, the gear that pushes the tray open gets stripped. You can either hit the open button and sharply tap the top of the console to force the gear to mesh, or (this is what I do) you can get a blank CD-R and just leave it in the drive when you turn it off.

I was trying to play Rock Band and I remembered that I needed to plug in the mic, so I tilted the Xbox forward. It didn't mess up the disk but I think it broke the laser because now I get an "open tray" message every time I try to play any game.

***** they will never catch up, consoles are updated every 8 years, PC updates every year so for how long it takes for consoles PC is already 10 years ahead of console, only way consoles could overtake PC's is if the price of the consoles are over $1,000 dollars, now would you pay a thousand dollars for a console? high end GPUs cost 500+ dollars just for the graphics cards and high end processors cost well at $200, same with motherboards all with good cooling systems. I mean you get what you pay for when it comes to gaming, you want to spend only 300 on a console to game then expect low performance.

I built my pc last year, and its hardware components are ~6 years old, and it can handle high end games with high resolution and graphics, and i can still record them at the same time, the best is:
when i need more power i can just overclock it.

I can do everything I want, because its a pc, not just for gaming.

But I honestly don't care about the console, or any others. I just got an xbox one because I prefer its exclusives.

The red ring isn't Microsoft's fault. Red ring only happens when said player doesn't turn it off for a while to cool down... The same happens with Ps3; I have both.
God dammit, do some research, you're wrong, overheating is just 1 of 4 problems shown by red rings. Fool.

Usually the single ring can be fixed by unplugging then replugging everything. the 2 rings can be temporarily fixed with a bit of computer duster, and a makeshift stand so the xbox can have access to all cooling vents
As for 3 and 4 i usually just throw it down a flght of steps.
AngryKitty Not necessarily because I got 3 rings and I shut it down, unplugged it, turned it back on and opened my window. Basically just keep air flowing constantly.

Because you can build a PC for ~$100 that will kick the shit out of both of those consoles. You people don't seem to realize that at any price point, there is a PC that you can build that will completely own any console at any price point. Yeah, you can spend as much as you want on a PC. That's the point. But that doesn't mean a $400 PC won't completely destroy a $400 console.

You can like playing with gamepads more than KB+M, but KB+M has been proven to be objectively superior in practically every gametype except racing. Fine motor skill are much, much more easily achieved with a mouse than an analog stick, and a keyboard is infinitely better than buttons on a controller, as there are many more keys on a keyboard than buttons on a controller. And the buttons on KB are 100% customizable to your liking.
In summary, because a vast majority of inputs for video games utilize boolean logic, KB+M will always be superior to a controller.

1:42 my friend brought his Far Cry 3 game over and he was playing it on the Xbox, and I accidentally bumped the table and that happened. He started rubbing bananas on it... he also blamed me, so MICROSOFT IS THE NEW GOOGLE+!!!! If you live in an area where earthquakes are common, and there is a small little one that slightly shakes the ground it could ruin the disk, and just that disk, nothing else you own, and then rage.
I have moved my xbox some while the disk was in there and that is your fault you hit the table tho it only happens really when you tilt it

Had the red ring of death so many times, one memorable instance was when I was at University. Parents came down, swapped it for one that was there and it happened to that one as well. I still think of Fable II as the 360 killer lol.

charging for Xbox live isn't a fail. It's a good decision. Take the recent lizard squad Ddos attacks on sony and microsoft, yes both online servers went down but there isn't much you can do to prevent a Ddos take down. The reason we agree to pay a reasonably small fee for online is so that if anything does go wrong, it can be fixed relativly quickly. For example, after online servers got Ddosed, Microsoft's were back up within 1 day, however, it took sony nearly 3 days to get the problem fixed.
Yea they servers are better to very rarely does anybody lag because they have a little more money to make things smoother and when a hack comes along the workers can get paid overtime to get the servers up faster because they have the money to pay them more to do a better job and help those who can't play their games
Xbox live is also only 10 dollars more than PSN. Most people also don't understand that games with gold gave away over 550$ worth of games in 2014 alone.
And that's why I prefer nintendo, free online and no Ddos attack
PSN only took 3 days to get back up and running because not only did it get hacked, but Sony decided to perform maintenance on not only the network but their servers themselves.
You all think that Sony do fuck all with their servers. They're just as reliable as Xbox's! But, no one will think the bigger picture and look at facts. People would much rather jump on the bandwagon and believe any bullshit that's fed to them just to make them happy.
turtleman2443 PlayStation Network does not cost money to use. PlayStation Plus cost money to use. PSP is for getting discounts and even getting free games on the PlayStation Store. Do some research before commenting.

I got the red ring of death once and within 10 mins I got rid of it by turning off the xbox waiting a minute and then sticking my hand in a part of the xbox and boom it worked again

No it didn't. The 360 actually had more ram, it also runs physx (if you even know what that is). I have both consoles, games run slightly better on 360 with pretty much no frame drops - at the time anyways. The kinect wouldn't have 10% of its ram if it came out before it was even intended. You are getting mixed up with the xbox one.
I just looked at the specs of the systems, Again like I said xbox is more powerful. Physx is nvidia only, it is used for PC mainly to make games look better. Add better particles, interactive smoke and the list goes on. The downside with the ps3 (was) is the updates, size (as you said), dust build up and online support isn't as good. Although xbox suffered a bigger yet similar problem to ps3 with the red ring.

That would make sense then but now even on the PS4, if you want to play mulltiplayer you have to pay for the PS Plus,
and both xbox one and 360 you don't have to pay for Gold to watch netflix or any other streaming service.

Two RRODS on two X360s, but biggest fail in my eyes was the "don't move console when loading" There was no big SIGN on the box "THE LASER IS MADE FROM THE HARD LIGHT" and i make it accidentally with wired controller, when we with friend make double kill in Gears of war with chainsaws. It was no possible in the game and it was glitch, so i jump in excitement from the couch. The X360 moved one inch and you guess: Gears of war no more.
Before X360 i had only PS1 and PS2 and that was undestructible piece of hardware. The PS1 was always in my backpack ready to unleash co-op Tekken/Soulcalibur party "winner held a joypad style". Never failed and still works after eighteen years. Not to talk bout' my mighty Commodore 64 with cassette tapes of discutadible quality - some chinese copies of emgeton, and they still can held the data. DVDs (if isn't factory production) ten years. For those which blames my DVD-burner all of the DVDS and CDS was burned on machine that had stock for 50 DVDs and costed 5000$ IN year 2000. Expensive as hell but we was little television and we need to burn all those schristmas and weedings. The only machine that can directly copy Gran Turismo 4 or Dual-layer God of War 2.

What?! The red ring of dead is, just a name for overheating. PS3 and PC also overheats but they don't have a name, and therefore xbox is the one standing in the firing line. And my Xbox is now 4 years old, and still running better then my PS3 ( which is 2 years old )
The only difference is that the red ring of death occurs way more often than a play station or PC. It also isn't just overheating, something with the hardware gets messed up and that causes the overheating.

Wow, that must have sucked. I'm not sure why that happened, I guess that happens to play station more often than I thought. But as long as your PC has a good cooling system, it shouldn't overheat.

I have pretty much every system out there, 2 PS3s, PSone, 3 PS2s, Gamecube, N64, Dreamcast, Sega Genesis, Wii, WiiU, PC, and a 360. The 360 is the only one that shit out on me, and it only took 7 months. My goddamn genesis still works...I hate Xbox.

no, another fact stater. i owned the Xbox one since release... it then looked at the PS4 exclusives list and PS-Plus benefits vs. Xbox One's exclusives list and Xbox Live benefits. PS4 exclusives list not only doubles more than the Xbox One's but the exclusive titles are extremely better (excluding TitanFall). With PS-Plus you are allowed access to a a BRAND NEW, FULL game for absolutely not additional charge... "Don't Starve" was January's release and that game was not only addicting but amazing in its creativity. February's release is Outlast.. the scariest and most awesome horror game Ive ever played in my lifetime. better than any scary movie. Also I absolutely hated the ps3 controller and absolutely loved the 360 controller. but now its vise versa. i still love the 360 controller but the Xbox one controller completely destroyed a perfection in controller ingenuity that was the 360 controller. now I love the ps4 controller more than i ever will the willy nilly Xbox one controller. with all that said... if you want the NSA spying on you in your living room or as you sleep and hear/see whatever you say/do and only use your console for media apps like netflix/hulu then you should definitely get an xbox one! No doubt about that...

One time with my Xbox 360, I got the red ring of death and I fixed it by just tilting the Xbox so I can see the bottom of it and just clean the bottom of it and then it was fixed. I was lucky because i got the red ring from dust cartilage but some other people may get it from having it for a long time or having the wrong way around.

My Xbox had lots of problems like the tray won't open, no blu-ray reader, disc scratch too easily, red ring of death, and paid gold membership. Now I have a PS3 which is a lot better.
well i have to say i have a first generation xbox360 elite and i played on it a lot and never had scratches on discs while standing vertical or ever had a red ring or any red light at all
