Since those were the only conditions that I had to be actually able to manage my gaming all by myself, I actually put a lot of input on my side to keep things like that. It's like every negative thing in your life, your parents blame the game console instead of it was a bad life choice. Like they never made bad choices, it happens but when they do it is just a mistakes if I do it I get well I know you are going to get mad but if you would focus on your life and not on video games this probably would of never happened. Love them but they are taxing sometimes.😐
Ahha! The basic indian parent I presume?
Jeremy Gant luckily, my parents aren’t that bad when it comes to me playing games. I have gotten the odd “pause the game” when it’s online, but not much worse.

When parents are too incompetent to teach their children how to balance things they enjoy with the necessities of life, and blame it entirely on the children's habits and choices that were developed under THEIR "care." Fantastic. 😞
That starts depressing you, you start thinking that you really can't do anything properly. You begin to feel bad about yourself and start thinking you're a loser. And now, all you can say is "well done parents". 🙄
The problem isn’t the blaming it’s the lack of getting the situation under control. If my child becomes addicted to video games then I’m taking away the video games until they get their life back in order. You don’t let an alcoholic have access to alcohol. Well you also don’t let an addicted gamer have access to video games. My dad once questioned me when I asked him to lock away my video games because I was becoming addicted and told me to just stop playing. But you see it’s called an addiction for a reason. So I decided to just break all my devices. Yeah I wasted money but I also saved my mental and physical health because I was forced to find alternatives to gaming.
Legit my dad in a nutshell.

Number 3, so destruction of private property? That’s illegal. And that thing costs half a grand
police tend to just mark it down as "Domestic" because destruction of another persons property somehow becomes a legal thing to do when it's marked as a domestic between parent and child. also so does theft... don't ask me how that logic works out... it's just what the police told me when I asked them about pressing charges against my mother for Vandalism to my brothers car, stealing the bolts from his wheels and cutting his brakes and keying the side of his car.... she carved her Initials into it, that's how we knew it was her, nope apparently it all totally legal...

My mother was far from a perfect parent, and bless her heart, she tried her best. I'm one of the few growing up that had a mom that would play games with me. She taught me how to play SMB3, Tetris (I'm from the lost time of 1990, btw) and Ghouls and Ghosts. My first console was a Sega Genesis and my fondest memory of it was watching my mother and her friend beat Sonic the Hedgehog 2. (I believe I was only 2 at the time) Never had my dad growing up. (though from what I hear he was a master of Mike Tyson's Punchout)
Gaming means more to me than just playing games. It's about my family, my friends and my competition. It's about connecting to people on not just a digital plane but a physical one.
I grew up as a gamer. I'm 29 now. If I ever am blessed with kids, I hope more than anything that we can bond over things like games. I'm fairly physically disable, so it would be really great. I could NEVER imagine destroying a generally positive thing that brings my kids joy. Their drugs or alcohol? Well, yeah. Games? Hell no, especially not in a way that is physically abusive to my kid and his friend. Discipline is very different from punishment.
I would get my Mom to beat the Sun level in SMB3 every time. She never gave herself enough credit on how awesome she was. Genesis was my first console too, though I still have my parents' NES to this day. Cheers.
I had a playstation 2 back in the day. I had trouble completing a level in the first god of war. And i asked my dad for help and he completed the level for me.
That's a nice story man.
Well with me it's the exact opposite. My father hated me spending any time playing video games. He never understood the appeal and never gave it a shot even just to humor me. He never bother helping me with my homework or teaching me anything (for him working hard and providing for his family was the only thing that mattered) but he would go out of his way to make sure I won't spend any time playing video games during the weekdays.
I like how the Japanese dad said that was wearing a shirt that said are you “are you happy now” as he smashes the PS4
I appreciate your analytical approach to these subjects hidden in your countdown.
My mother hates games period. My father spent an entire weekend trying to finish TMNT on NES in one go. So I had a complicated gaming life.
Did he do it?? That game was incredibly hard.
@@Harrison.DuRant yeah, lol.
One hand it isn't healthy kids playing games for god knows how long. I play regularly and did in my childhood not that i thought it was unhealthy but considering everyday life, kids need to function, properly. Not sit half awake or angry because they couldn't do a mission/level/ or got trolled to which there is no end and they defo will not leave the game until a resolution had been sought.
On the other hand, moderation is fine.

Then they sold it on eBay because when I tried to start a conversation on Discord, that one annoying kid came up to me and said that same 2 words. “Who asked!” I ended up in an argument with that kid that got to the point of swearing. I accidentally pressed message instead of mention, and for some reason, an invite for another Discord server was sent. The server that I was in had a no DM Advertising rule. Eventually some moderators got into the situation, and the kid showed the screenshot of the accidental direct message. Unfortunately, the screenshot was enough to prove me guilty of DM Advertising, the kid won the argument, and I got hit with a 1 week server ban, followed by a month of channel restrictions. My parents found out about this, and that’s why I’m anonymously typing this message. My helicopter parents , or ahem, the little brat, basically just ruined my internet life. Fortunately, I am a quick adapter and in a few weeks or a month I will forget about the argument and move on with life.
Gaming to me is a stress reliever, to get away from the drama of life and just enjoy it, but every time I stop playing the stress of live catches up
To me its playing games instead of doing drugs or smoking
-Uses drugs -*-and-*- plays games-
On a side note I learned how to strikeout text on CZcams today.
*The more you know*
I learned how to flip my switch
No stress and no life drama
So much so that games have gotten boring for me
sounds like the early stages of addiction
To me gaming or playing basketball is a stress reliever
this was like years ago but I got sick in school my dad picks me up brings me home and uplugs my xbox and took all my games and he said "It was the video games fault" and I was like What?????

That Japanese boy after his dad break the PS 4 - On your feet Soldier we are leaving China. Soviet Reinforcements are coming in 5 mins.
In primary school, instead of studying, I spent my time playing and having fun. Just before the end of the term, my parents found out about my grades at a school meeting. My father took the belt and gave me a spanking, thanks to which in a month I kept my grades straight, knowing what awaited me if I did not succeed. It worked every time.
Hearing falcon do a Dr. Phil impression is hilarious😂
I grew up with games since i was little(commandore 64 being the first) and my parents either played with us or just watch us play while at the same time they made sure to let us play outside alot and even sent us to Scouting.
I think it really worked well, if we played to long they would simply say so on a normal way, and thats the best way no?
perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
This could be Falcon’s finest Gameranx video. He goes all “Freakanomics” on us around 3:10 and then does a surprisingly hilarious Dr. Phil impression at 9:56. I’ve watched a lot of Gameranx videos and this is one for the “Best of” collection.
God forbid they just unplug it and hide it somewhere lol
5:55 The kid looked pretty emotionally hurt to me, you psycho.
Ya
My parent: Stop playing the games your grades gonna go down!
Me: **gets 90 in math**
Me: Who cares?

Ultimate flex
Your Dr. Phil is on point! Lol
Thats why you play on your freetime and work hard to begin with💪💰💰
and thats also why u should be appreciative that you have supportive parents (if they are supportive)
My parents used to lock my games consoles away until my grades improved. It was almost like making them a reward. It worked. I went to uni and got a science degree 🤷🏻♂️ now I'm making up lost gaming time 😂
The difference is that you could get your console BACK. Not so much the case with the parents that smash the damn things.
I play video games a ton but ive decided to take up skateboarding as a way to get outside and let me chill from games for abit
I'm proud of you.
