Bone Dry Dunes is hella underrated. It's not a top tier course by any means, but it offers a nice challenge, especially at high speeds. The music and vibes of the course are not as bland as people make them out to be, in my opinion. I actually really like the dark theming to the course. I would argue that among the nitro courses, Mario Kart Stadium, Mario Circuit, and Water Park are more boring and/or less inspired. But really, it all comes down to personal preferences.

    • @stupidperson8780

    • @andymcclurg9916
      @andymcclurg9916 Před rokem +2

Hard agree, it's one of my favorite nitro tracks: The theme of ancient leviathans buried in the sand makes for a great antigravity section driving across a giant ribcage, the desert hills make for some surprisingly difficult drifts, and the citar music is hauntingly cool in my opinion. It's a lot more inspired than any desert track before it, even if I have a soft spot for Dry Dry Ruins from Wii.
There are many worse tracks such as the ones you mentioned plus Twisted Mansion, Sunshine Airport, Electrodrome, and the worst one by far, ExciteBike Arena.

    • @Siphonophr

I find the « hate » this track gets weird af and I dont get how many people are saying its the worse nitro in mk8. Its one of the tracks I like the most from mk8 but to be fair without any bias, the track is ok and not that bad as so many make it out to be. Mk8 has GREAT nitro tracks and that one doesnt stand out much but Id say that theres worse like WaterPark (the worse mk8 nitro track imo but its still a good ok track). MK stadium is fun online but its your typical first track and its not that great. Thwomp ruins and shy guy falls are tracks I dislike but thats my personal biased opinion on them cause they’re annoying af. Its a good thing when the « worst » tracks are actually fine and good cause then it means the devs made a heck of a great job!

Great video, and you did very well for choosing a track that is the worst in Super Mario Kart!
Here's my list of tracks from each game, so uhhh yeah (note that this is my opinion)
Super Mario Kart: can't choose, I'd probably choose Choco Island 1 or Vanila Lake 1
64: Wario Stadium (there's a reason it's never been remade)
Super Circuit: hard to choose since I like nearly every track, so I guess Peach Circuit
Double Dash: similarly to Super Circuit, I like nearly every track, so I guess Dry Dry Desert (Baby Park isn't too far ahead though)
DS: Figure-8 Circuit (although I do dislike other tracks here, specifically Yoshi Falls & Desert Hills)
    Wii: Luigi Circuit
3DS/7: Toad Circuit (although I like every track here somewhat)
8/8 Deluxe: Twisted Mansion (feels too uninspired and odd)
Tour: Los Angeles Laps (this was a coin toss between Tokyo Blur & LA Laps, but Tokyo Blur won the toss so yeah)

I feel like Toad’s Turnpike is even worse in 8. It’s basically the exact same except the difficulty factor, which gave it any sort of edge, is completely gone due to the wider roads and anti-gravity on the walls. I’ve seen people argue that the anti-gravity improves it because it’s modernized, but I can’t understand how anyone can take that approach. Without the difficulty, it’s just a boring glorified figure 8 circuit with slightly more going on.
If they brought back figure-8 circuit, I’m positive they’d add anti-grav on the walls, meaning they would literally be identical with the absence of cars, which granted, scarcely ever hit you. They should’ve brought back Shy Guy Bazar or even Toad’s Factory instead, and I’m still salty that neither of them will likely be in the Booster Course Pass.

The anti-gravity there felt forced, and I wasn't a fan of two way traffic instead of all of it going the same direction.

    • @danielfotheringhamproducti7368
      @danielfotheringhamproducti7368 Před rokem

@@NoBillsOfCrashDamage, I don’t mind two way traffic, as long as it’s not too narrow to be considered impossible, but not too wide to be considered underwhelming, or just boring. But yes, the anti-gravity was forced there. N64 Rainbow Road in 8 is undeniably amazing, but my personal complaint is that it was split into sections, which the original should have done, and the remake should have been done in laps, at least 2. 7’s custom track remake is rather impressive, and has the best balance at the moment, followed closely by N64 Rainbow Road’s official remake, and the original trailing far behind, the only saving graces being the music and the graphics.

    • @NoBillsOfCrashDamage
      @NoBillsOfCrashDamage Před rokem +1

      @@danielfotheringhamproducti7368
Maybe that was my nostalgia speaking. I still think MK8 Toad's Turnpike is more reasonable with the track width, but perhaps a little more than ideal.
I understand 8's anti-gravity was the selling point but not every retro needed it.
N64 Rainbow Road went from really long to really short; Nintendo overkilled the length adjustment for sure. 2 laps would have been best.
I haven't seen many fan takes on those specific tracks so I'll have to trust you on this one.

    • @milkshakedraws6944
      @milkshakedraws6944 Před rokem

@@NoBillsOfCrashDamage Agreed. It especially irks me, as if they wanted to bring back a traffic track, they chose Toad’s Turnpike over something like Moonview Highway. Mario Circuit in MK8 is already the same layout, so it makes Toad’s Turnpike feel redundant.

Speaking from experience. Back when I was getting all the trophies in Double Dash (succeeded), I always dreaded Mushroom City, for some reason I was always so far behind the guys in first and the oncoming traffic didn't make it much easier, Wii's Moonview Highway is a great revision of it though.

I actually really enjoy Toad’s Turnpike on Mario Kart 64 since it allows you refine your driving skills and on the bonus cup your reaction ability to dodge the oncoming cars. Some instances make you thread the needle between two side by side vehicles and if you pull that off it can really intimidate your opponents if playing against human players. CPU’s can’t do it either. If you do the track right you can catch up no problem. The figure 8 pattern makes it super simple.
If I had to pick a track on N64 that was bad it would be Mario Raceway. It’s too basic and boring with zero hazards.
The most difficult track is easily banshee boardwalk. It’s super sharp turns, lack of railings in many places and hidden hazards really make you memorize the track. A well placed shell or banana can decide the race. The darkness aspect is also something that depending on the part of the course you are on can play a role.

1- Choco Island 2 (it is in my opinion the single worst track in the series with it's spam of ramps that just make the track basicly unplayable)
2- Rainbow Road or Wario Stadium (both are long boring ass tracks that don't have anything intresting outside of some jumps in Wario Stadium and a chain chomp in Rainbow Road)
3- Shy Guy Beach (although it doesn't have the screen shaking the whole time, this track is just a boring bunch of sand with a square layout that screems unintresting)
4- Dry Dry Desert (oh boy is this track boring. Beautiful background? No! It's just a bunch of boring piramids. Memorable layout? It's a square. Good gameplay? The sand is slipery and the winner is always defined by the lucky person who got a star or a golden mushroom. High quality music? Easely one of the worst in the franchiese. Intresting gimick? The sand pit is stollen from Yoshi's Desert, the Pokeys appear in most other desert levels and the tornado is so memorable that they forgor about it in the remake. How long is it? It's one of the longest tracks in the game. F'ck This Track)
5- F8 Circuit (yeah, I agree with this one)
    6- Luigi Circuit (same)
7- Sherbet Rink (I need to mention this becouse it's the single worst battle map in the series, with no competition. As for regular tracks, yeah, Toad Circuit is the worst even tho is a good starting course)
8- Sky High Sundae (it came in this game first, so it counts. It's not just becouse this track is the worst, that it is bad. Indeed the thing that makes me think it's the worst is the lack of perfect graphics and a layout that is just an oval)
9- RMX Choco Island 2 (I think you forgor about the RMX courses lol. If you are not counting them for whatever the reason, than I agree with you, Tokyo Blur is pretty bad)
10- Choco Island 2 on the ds (the worst track is also the worst retro lol)

I have to be fair, for the SNES, I actually think it should be Mario Circuit 1, yes it’s the very first track, but compared to its other 3 variants, this didn’t offer much, for the N64, Rainbow Road, because of the barriers throughout the track, only saving Grace is the occasional Chain Chomps, GBA is a lot more tricky as Peach Circuit is Easy, but Snow Land’s shaky camera was unnecessary, and I like its remake in the Booster Course Pass, GCN is also Hard, since none of the tracks are necessarily bad, and I feel guilty for Sherbet Land, because it’s alright, 8’s remake is absolutely wonderful, DS is where I can agree, Figure-8 Circuit is very bland, the rest offer something, Wii I can also agree on, though none of the tracks are necessarily bad either, and Luigi Circuit did offer quite a bit for a first track, it’s no Rainbow Road though, 3DS is partly agree, because Toad Circuit shouldn’t have been in the Booster Course Pass at all, let alone Wave 1, and I feel bad for the original version in 7, the WiiU/Switch is also a shame, as Bone-Dry Dunes does seem to be a good course, but is the weakest of the Nitro tracks (Though I consider it better than 8’s remake of N64 Toad’s Turnpike, I’d rather have that difficulty level), though Mario Kart Stadium isn’t too far off, none of the Nitro tracks in 8 are bad though, and Finally Mobile in Tour, I sadly have to agree with you, 8 Deluxe’s remake is better since it combines multiple routes, but the original never offered much to begin with, even London Loop and Berlin Byways offered something!
So yeah, that’s my overall thoughts on your opinions, and that was my personal opinion.
    Thank you for reading.

Yep, plenty that actually played Super Mario Kart back in the '90's when it came out, including yours truly. It's possible I was one of the best in my 'hood at SMK that never owned it. There are also plenty of SMK playthroughs and shortcut vids on CZcams.
BTW, that jump in Bowser's Castle 2 isn't that tough to make. IIRC, you just have to find the right angle.

    My Opinions:
Super Mario Kart: Bowser Castle 2 - Sharp turns that are unfun, a dead-end you can only get past if you have a Feather, and overall an entirely unfun experience.
Mario Kart 64: Rainbow Road - For being the last track in the game, it is just not fun. It's by far the longest track in the game, with each lap taking 2 minutes on average, which totals up to 6 MINUTES PER RACE. Plus, the track is extremely boring. The original Rainbow Road was so hard, and I think Nintendo heard people's complaints on the original difficulty and just said "Alright, fine, we'll cover the WHOLE TRACK in guard rails! You're welcome!" There are barely any obstacles, except for chain chomps, which are painfully easy to dodge, and it's overall just a boring experience, and I don't even think the music or aesthetics can save this from being the absolute worst in Mario Kart 64 and overall the worst Rainbow Road in the entire series.
    Mario Kart Super Circuit:
New Track: Broken Pier - Somehow there is a worse track than Snow Land, a track that seems like there's always an earthquake all the time. Broken Pier is just boring overall and a tedious track. At least in Snow Land, you could maybe get past the screen shaking and have a pretty decent experience. Here, you'll be suffering constantly.
Extra Track: SNES Bowser Castle 2 - Somehow, the worst track from Super Mario Kart managed to creep it's way into Super Circuit, and somehow it's even worse than before. A lot of the obstacles are removed, which sounds like a good thing in hindsight, but in my opinion makes it even worse. And remember the dead end in the original that required the feather? Well, Super Circuit has no feather! So if you go down the dead end, no matter what, you're screwed.
Mario Kart Double Dash: Dry Dry Desert - Pretty boring track overall. So boring, infact, that I don't even have anything else to say about it. That's how bad and forgettable it is. It's still not bad, though, just mediocre.
    Mario Kart DS:
Nitro Track: Figure-8 Circuit - It's a basic-ass starter course, and it's extremely boring. No obstacles, barely any turns, the only good quality it has is that it's a good place to practice snaking. Also, unrelated, but this was a stage in Smash for over a decade, and it was called the wrong name. In Brawl, it was called "Mario Circuit" even though clearly it's Figure-8 Circuit! It took until Ultimate until Nintendo finally realized that and changed the name. That's probably the most memorable thing about this track.
Retro Track: SNES Choco Island 2 - I don't know how, but EVERYTHING about this track somehow went wrong. First off, they changed the amount of laps from 5 in the original to 3! This makes this track pitifully short. Second, the ramps are annoying, since if you're going at the wrong angle at the wrong speed, you can fly off probably into the offroad. And the mud that was originally inoffensive in the originally was ruined and now it's slippery. It is actually extremely unfun to play. I hate this track.
    Mario Kart Wii:
Nitro Track: Luigi Circuit - It's a starter course. There's not much to it. But hey, at least it's more than Figure-8 Circuit, am I right, fellas? Also, the Gamecube version is better.
Retro Track: GBA Shy Guy Beach - Honestly, this just doesn't fit. It looks and feels like a faithful remake of a GBA track, which isn't really the best. Honestly, IDK why I don't like this version even though I like the original version. Maybe because it just doesn't feel right.
    Mario Kart 7:
Nitro Track: Cheep Cheep Lagoon - Basic-ass tutorial for driving underwater. Did we really need this?? It's not bad, but damn is it forgettable. And this is the WORST track in the game, and I find it mediocre. Honestly, this game has a really solid track roster, that's for sure.
Retro Track: N64 Luigi Raceway - The first course from MK64. And, honestly, it doesn't really hit the same. Now they allow you to drive on the sides, but really that's about everything new they added. Also, they changed the item box balloon so that it doesn't always giving a blue shell. I get that'd be really unbalanced, and... Okay, yeah, nevermind.
    Mario Kart 8/Deluxe
Nitro Track: Bone Dry Dunes - Honestly, just a pretty forgettable track. It's not all that exciting, plus it's a huge difficulty spike when compared to Cloudtop Cruise. However, it's still just okay.
Retro Track: GCN Dry Dry Desert - The worst track from Double Dash was somehow also in here. And somehow it's even worse than it originally was. The plant thing in the sinkhole was removed and was replaced with... absolutely nothing. They also added a completely useless oasis, even though it's a desert and it's supposed to be dry. The mushroom shortcuts can be pretty fun to perform, but other than that, it's just bad.
Booster Course Pass Track: GBA Sunset Wilds - This. This single track angers me more than anything else. Nintendo is so good at turning tracks with not much depth, like Ribbon Road into absolutely magnificent tracks. However, with this, there is barely any elevation other than two ramps and a single turn. They also removed some of the parts. What the hell!?!? But the worst part, is what they did to the sunset. They managed to remove the FUCKING. SUNSET. WHAT THE FUCK, NINTENDO!? If you can have the sunset in the GBA version of this track from 2001 and the Tour version of this track on the phone, which the BCP most likely ports it's tracks from, then HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU NOT ADD THE SUNSET INTO THE SWITCH VERSION OF THIS TRACK IN 2023??????? Remember how gorgeous visually the mud looked in Waluigi Stadium? Well, somehow it looks like shit here, to the point where I can't even comprehend what the FUCK it's supposed to be. Not even the music or the dancing shy guys can save this track. This is the most horeshit, absolutely atrocious track, in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. No competition. Except maybe Toad Circuit, but still.
    Mario Kart Tour:
Nitro Tracks: Tokyo Blur - Yeah, this is just a boring track overall. If I had to say which version I think is the worst, maybe Tokyo Blur 1? I don't know, really, mainly since I've never played any of them. And plus, I think the one I mentioned might be the most boring? I don't even know, I'm just inferring at this point.
Retro Tracks: No. Just no. There are so many retros in Tour that there is no way I'm gonna check them all and see which one is the worst.

I love the original Sherbet Land. Even tho I suck at the game (still haven't beaten the special cup), the freezees and shy guys aren't that hard to avoid. A perfect introduction to the star cup, which I think is is the best cup in Double Dash with every track being a banger. MK8 version is an ok remake but I do miss how the freezees worked in the original.
Also, I slightly disagree with Wii Luigi Circuit being the worst nitro track in Wii, it is supposed to be simple to make the newer players learn the controls. The worst is Mario Circuit because while Luigi Circuit is also easy, Mario Circuit is in the flower cup. It has no right to be in the same cup as Coconut Mall and Wario's Gold Mine.
But the video is pretty good and I can agree with most of the picks

    Nice video!
    My Opinions:
    (Only counting nitros)
SMK: Choco Island 2 (Looks like poop, bump spam is annoying, mud is excessive, offroad is too harsh.)
MK64: Rainbow Road (Gorgeous visuals & music but way too long and boring.)
MKSC: Snow Land (Nice theming but the track shakes constantly and its gameplay isn’t memorable at all.)
MKDD: Baby Park (Don’t dislike this one but the novelty of items going everywhere simply wears off very quickly for me. I do respect it for being very unique though.)
MKDS: Figure-8 Circuit (The most bland & boring track in the entire series as it offers quite literally NOTHING of value.)
MKW: Luigi Circuit (Ending is fun with the boost panels on the inclined turn & a couple of shortcuts but most of the track is simply barren.)
MK7: Toad Circuit (Very similar to the previous track with the ending carrying the track, though without the boost panels, but this track has an okay glider thrown into the mix.)
MK8/MK8DX: Excitebike Arena (Concept is fun and the theming is very nice but tricking excessively in an oval is only so appealing.)
MKT: Tokyo Blur (Cheating a bit here but I’ll use the 8 Deluxe remake since I’m not too familiar with the Tour versions of the tracks. Anyways this has the weakest theming if any of the Tour city tracks by far and the track as a whole has very little going on throughout.)

    Here’s my list!
SNES: Bowser’s Castle 3. While all the alternate paths are fun, it makes the track way too narrow, especially around the halfway point that’s lined wall to wall with thwomps that cpus aren’t effected by.
    N64: Wario Stadium
This track just feels uninspired. Wario’s face all over the wall in very “Wario” but aside from that, it’s just a dirt track with no challenge.
GBA: Snow Land is definitely my pick for all the reasons mentioned here, including the slippery physics.
    GCN: Baby Park
This track is as brainless as it gets. Some people like the chaotic nature of it, but I just find it infuriating.
    Wii: Luigi Circuit
    It’s too basic, moving on.
    3DS: Piranha Plant Slide
I can’t quite explain what I can’t stand about this track. The track makes you feel like you have options in which route you take, but more often than not, I’ve found my best route is determined by whichever direction the piranha plants aren’t facing. It makes options feel limited.
    WiiU/Switch: Bone-Dry Dunes
This track just doesn’t feel very fun. A lot of turns are tough to make, and it’s sometimes hard to see what’s coming.
    Tour: Bowser’s Castle 3R/T
What? The? Hell? Who gave little Timmy permission to make a Mario Kart track? Ramps randomly strewn across a straightaway like some crappy Super Mario Maker level? No!
