Very nice review! I really liked the insight in Tyrell mini faction.
Maybe one thing I disagree with is your thoughts on Swag Knights. You forgot to factor in that if you want to run any Long Range shooting (as Renly loyalty), you have to go for neutrals and hence ruling out GC Swords. Brienne in GC Crossbows and Renly (CH or LP) in Swag Knights is really devastating.

I know it's a small change, but Commander Renly Baratheon, Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, is rarely talked about. In addition to Boisterous Charisma and Stalwart, he now has Precision. He's a commander who has many immunities in the current meta and has some good tactic cards, and one that could be improved, any thoughts on that commander? I use him quite a bit and notice that it affects players since they generally lose half or more of the tools at their disposal. Great video and analisys
Totally with you! I always felt Renly Lord Paramount is a well balanced commander. He is slightly overshadowed by Renly Charismatic Heir now though. Younger, Bolder and Far more Comely is an amazing card. But still, as you said, good commander with well designed tactics cards.

I think Mel needs a complete redesign. Her mechanic was never fun, and still isn’t for either player. Time for an entirely new mechanic.

The new one has definitely ways to play around her I feel. In general I like the idea of her sacrificing troops to Deal panic to opponents
@@HitsAndCrits My issue is that the mechanic is the same as it always was, only now it’s a shorter distance between sacrificial unit and target unit. I don’t have an issue with the sacrifice mechanic, as much I do with the “panic bomb” element. The army has a long range panic device in the form of lightbringers, so I don’t see a reason to pretend that the faction wants to lean into panic damage when other factions already do it better. From the 2021 updates, it looked like the designers were more interested in panic resistance instead of panic damage, and then they recently minimized “self-harm” effects in the tactics cards for S03. I think this opened up an opportunity for Mel to retain her sacrifice theme (as we lose fewer wounds now from other effects), but allow for the sacrificial wounds to provide other bonuses instead of a power-boosted panic test.
@@TheMannis that’s a good point I haven’t thought about! But good to see there are constant troubleshoots and tweaks are made. Maybe some more changes in Q1‘24
@@HitsAndCrits It feels like they are at least addressing concerns more regularly. Nice to see. If I recall, this last update they mentioned they were focusing more on commanders. Maybe that means the next one will be more NCU and/or unit focused. We’ll see.
