  • "Tyrell swords will make me king. Rowan and Tarly and Caron will make me king, with axe and mace and warhammer. Tarth arrows and Penrose lances, Fossoway, Cuy, Mullendore, Estermont, Selmy, Hightower, Oakheart, Crane, Caswell, Blackbar, Morrigen, Beesbury, Shermer, Dunn, Footly ... even House Florent, your own wife's brothers and uncles, they will make me king. All the chivalry of the south rides with me, and that is the least part of my power. My foot is coming behind, a hundred thousand swords and spears and pikes." - Renly Baratheon
Could Renly's claim to throne exist if not for the numbers, influence and money of his bannermen? Drawn to him by his youth, charisma and the promise of a King loved by the people, and whom would love them back? Most prominent of those houses of course, House Tyrell. The claim could, but we assume the power to seize that very claim could not.
Although Renly has taken the Black Stag on a field of yellow, the house sigil of his bloodline for hundreds of years onto his banners only the foolish would ignore the golden rose of House Tyrell. Wearing ornate armour and wielding polished weaponry matched only by the armies of the Warden of the West - Tywin Lannister, the Knights of Summer go to war. Following years of living in both of his brother's shadows, has Renly Baratheon's time on the Iron Throne finally come? The Renly loyalty Baratheon's and the financial backing of House Tyrell are reflected perfectly in ASOIAF:TMG by having some of the most powerful grinding and attrition based abilities/commanders available to them.
By playing the Renly Baratheon's side, you will have 3 different versions of Renly Baratheon available the charismatic heir, the lord paramount and the King in the South. Or will you take advantage of the expert swordsmanship and battlefield presence of Loras Tyrell, the Knight of Flowers? Or leave your armies in the trusty generalship of Eldon Estermont, Lord of Greenstone tempered by age and duty. Off the battlefield, the Tyrell's are no less cunning with their matriarch Olenna waiting patiently, guiding her granddaughter and soon to be Queen Margaery Tyrell. This week Brett, discusses all of these questions with our faction expert and long term House Baratheon bannerman "Szewster" from Poland in the first of a two part Baratheon overview.

This video has been super helpful as someone who is learning and picking up the Renly side. It does feel like the Renly side is the underpowered brother (except for Eldon) and this has been great as someone who is interested in trying some of the less used units and commanders. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to this series continuing.

Great episode. This is the faction I knew least about, but I also own - so it was hugely helpful to hear expert analysis. It will allow me to start building informed lists with confidence. Thank you both.

Glad you’re enjoying it Woody. We will defiantly get round to releasing all of the faction overviews. We’ll be living tactically the ones we expect will see the least changes in the update. But there should be two more dropping in quick succession. So keep an eye out for them and thanks again for your support

The crazy part is since i couldnt decide on which side, I havent gotten Baratheons yet. Five armies later and im thinking im gonna just do what I've been doing and build both. My friends think its dope that they can try them with me so itll be worth it.

@@ElBestDelWorld A lot of Baratheon players feel locked to one loyalty (myself included), which shows incredible investment in the IP. But the truth from a gaming perspective is that they actually work extremely well, when used as a two list pairing. Baratheon players are normally the most invested in their faction than anyone else as a collective. Definitely keep us up to date with your journey into collecting Baratheon.

I’ve had fun and decent success using Sentinals locally. We okay 50 point list as a regular thing.
I use Renly Lord Paramount for his tactics card Hidden Affairs for its charge action.
Next to him sits Thor e Watch with Brienne the Blue so if Renly is attacked they can shoot or charge as the situation dictates.
Then of course are the Sentinels with their order to charge.
It’s essentially a counter charge list. In a tournament meta I’m not sure how it would do but for average games it’s worked well and has been fun to run.

I have run the Rainbow Guard six times. I have stopped using them. The unit doesn't have synergy with Renly's cards or abilities and the eight points make the army too deficient in other areas.
Renly 3 is much better in pikemen or Stag Knights.

    • @Yecatsminiatures
      @Yecatsminiatures  Před rokem

Yes, as we mention in the episode the Rainbow Guard are extremely tough to make work for their point value. Here's hoping someone in the community has unlocked their secrets and posts a comment here!
Also agree that Renly 3's cards are good, but in other units

  • @mikelnavarromartinez9703
