Daniel "LArks" Löffelmann and Martin "Iceman" Koch, two veterans of the game, joined us in this Episode of OnTarget where we cover the topic of List Building. This was highly demanded on the Discord server and on CZcams. We discuss goals, strategies and best cases of list building. Both also tell us a little bit about their ways to build and practice certain builds for tournaments.

Really waited a long time for this kind of format. Taking such a deep look into this important part of the game, is really cool. It is seldom dicussed this open in the community. I would like to say thanks to all of you for giving away all this expertise of yours.

Thank you very much for this video. I could definitely use some more coaching in listbuilding and using my units during the game. Maybe a BatRep with explaining the thoughts and desicions would be a nice addition to this video here.

Beginner list to build == try introducing them to the main infantry unit (Sworn Swords, Lannister Guardsmen, FF Raiders) and then add something defensive (Tully Sworn Shields, Halberds, Thenns) or something offensive (Beserkers or Greataxes, Mountain Men, Spearviwes or Cave Dwellers) and show them some ranged (Bowmen, Crossbows, Trappers) and some Cavalry. Try to make the two armies kind of symmetrical.
Tournament list building == try to have 2 lists that can adapt to the game modes and to anything surprising ... I find combined armies doing better, my go-to Lannister army has Cav, Ranged, Defensive and Offensive Infantry and 3 NCUs. There is also something about synergy, built in combos but they should be reliable meaning that they should not rely on too many things coming together at once. As a Lannister building up for a few big panic tests for example is rather reliable. Having 2 different lists ... as a Lannister I have one that relies on panic and one that relies on sheer aggression. For example there are opponent that can shut down the crown game of Joffrey very easily ... don't rely on any one thing coming together and have some backups. Also try to have a hammer and anvil combo and some counters for enemy units. I take a mountain men in case a cavalry unit gets lost. And I have ranged just to annoy and lure them in for a charge.
Fun list building is about trying out new combos even if they do not work ... I made a list with Clegane mounted in the Bolton Flayed men I called it the flying anvil list :))) was quite fun. Now I am thinking of Spearwives jumping in the back with Jarl and Harma's bannerman. Will it work? I don't know :)))

Would you plan a "Tactica" on FF ?
Is there a competitive way of playing them without Styr, 3 Hunters or Varamyr (assuming boldly that the list will improve the player ...)?
What other commanders could be fun to play (even in a non competitive environnement)?
How do you play Rattleshirt or The Weeper? Are they good/fun choices or just broken ones?
Meine Frage dreht sich eher um Listenauswahl als um Listenbau. Ich versuche Listen so zu bauen, dass ich eine allgemeine Liste und eine Liste für spezifische Matchups baue. Ganz oft hatte ich dann die Situation, dass eine Liste meines Gegners eher zu meiner allgemeinen Liste passt und eine eher zu der Spezifischen. Wie wählt Ihr in einer solchen Situation die jeweilige Liste aus?
