It actually makes sense for the padres to do better. Pitching has been good all year and are getting some bullpen arms back from injury. Manny has been hot, Xander just got a shot for his wrist so he should be better, tatis, Soto and Kim have been better snd if they add a bat atthe deadline the can win a lot of games

To get to 89 wins, they have to play .648 the rest of the season starting right now. How many teams playing over .600 in all of baseball? I'll tell you... only 2 (the Rays at .626 and the Braves at .678). The Padres need to instantly be the 2nd best team in baseball overnight and go 48-26 the final 74 just to secure the 3rd wild card spot.

its sad how the MLB and its fans treated wander franco this past few weeks. tampa is at the top of the league and he's #1 in defensive/positional WAR, 2nd overall behind ohtani and he 1. didn't get voted in at all ... then 2. didn't get selected as a reserve.... then 3 after being selected as an injury replacement he's forgotten during the player introductions.... and finally 4. he's put in at the very end of the game for 1 at bat in the 9th inning and nearly ties the game with a homerun. i wish to god that ball went a few feet farther to shut all the haters up

The Padres came into this season unprepared, too much big egos, obvious poor work ethics and unfocused. It was easy to see in spring training! Then the big crowds and pressure just BUCKLED them in the clutch situations and they RBI CHOKED!
