Thankfully, then I upgraded to TNT2 Vanta, which was also junk, but was able to run Q2 in 3D mode, and do maybe 30fps(?) at 480p.
Well, we ended comparing an Athlon with an i5 lmao. AMD is a miracle of market. I hope Intel will recovers itself, more competition, better prices and better products.
If you compare the price and performance of 11400 to 3600, intel is a much better choice. 11400 is probably the best processor lauched in the 11th gen line up.
I had one for a while and though i didnt use the IGPU (i have a 1070) it was identical in performance to the 4790k. The 5600x I have now beats the hell out of it though.
@@Sgt.Hartman good to know, I'll to get my hands on a second hand 1660s when this shortage ends, I usually play games from mid 00s early 2010s, vega 8 can run them like a charm.
Considering the Athlon 3000G was available for as little as 38€ when new, it's putting up a good fight. It's even a fair comparison, since both parts are 14nm.
I still cannot believe the crazy magic thingy the engineers had to do to make the 3000g, every time I see a video about it I just open the box to smile at it even after I got my 2600
Great news on the sponsorship from CCL. I get the vast majority of my components from them. Also built my rig and my 2 brother-in-laws machines from parts bought from them.
I have an Athlon 3150U gold in my laptop with 12gb of 2400mhz ram and it really surprised me with what I could eke out of it. Most games from 7th gen prior and even some recent well optimized games like resident evil and Doom run well enough especially on the smaller screen. Good old Vega 3 pretty much lets me have a dirt cheap portable gaming machine :-)
It's still nice to see integrated graphics are improving on both platforms! Intel graphics were terrible in the past but they have gained a lot of ground recently. If I were building a new budget system, I would seriously be considering Intel right now.
I must say i tried CCL for my last purchases and i was very impressed. Very quick indeed, and great prices. So am happy to see they gave you a bit of sponsorship/support.
I think Intel should increase their iGPU performance as well as amd, so that low to mid range gpus go obsolete and there wouldnt be a need of one. Seeing the gpu market hopefully this happens in a couple of years
Nope, even my intel hd5500 from 6 years ago is faster than a gt710. This card is just incredibly bad. The vega graphics on the 3200g and 3400g are more comparable to a gt 1030
I've got a hades canyon, with a weird INTEL/AMD collaboration ( Intel® Core™ i7-8809G Processor with Radeon™ RX Vega M GH graphics), and to be honest it beats my 3400g and any other APU i've used, plus a gtx1050 i had, hands down. You can pick a hades canyon up for around the £400 mark now, and the thunderbolt port, (one of 2) runs my portable acer monitor, with a wireless keyboard/trackpad for a great portable setup, my laptop has become redundant and feels unloved. I'd recommend NUC anytime for anybody who likes portable setups, i'd also recommend CCL i've been using them for ages and never a cross word, great channel never miss a post. Cheers.
You can OC the Vega 3, so you can try that as well... Overall however, it's wonderful that now you can play some games with your new i5s, i7s and i9s while waiting for a gpu to buy at normal prices!
the new Intel 11400 makes sense if someone wanted to build now, but needed to wait for a GPU, so they would have a pretty strong CPU, could use the computer for light gaming, web surfing, office tasks etc, and buy a modern GPU when it is possible, or hunt around for a decent used CPU at a fair price.
I thought of a cool idea in the last video, perhaps you could put these UHD 730 graphics against a DDR3 GT730 and see the difference in performance should someone have to game temporarily on one of them. Perhaps out of that parts bin you could try to find an old graphics card equivalent to UHD 730 graphics too!

Thanks for the comparison video 👍🏻 I have an AMD Athlon 3000g myself for a budget build, and I must say, that I'm satisfied with its iGPU power. Surprised that I can even play Cyberpunk 2077 with little to no tweaks (I didn't do the low-end config which consists of turning off shadows, even the hair) with respectable results. As for RDR2, 15-18 FPS is good enough to play because I experienced worst before (i5 4200u + GT 740m on Watch_Dogs 2 with 10-15 fps 😅)

I agree with you about the minimum frames. I would also prefer a more stable framerate to an average higher one any day. It just creates a much smoother gameplay.
The newest AMD B550 chipset does not support the AMD Athlon 3000G series of APUs...So as an upgrade path its limited to 3000 series CPU's and B450's. This limits its value when the G.Card apocalypse ends.
I think that Intel did a great job with their mobile solutions and the XE Max iGPU. I'll be getting a GPD Win 3 soon, and that has an 1165g7 with XE Max. The Win 3 is an expensive device, and a very niche one, but since the new 11th gen chips are gonna have Gen12 graphics, combined with better driver support from Intel, I think budget laptops with XE Max are finally gonna be a viable option for cheap laptop gaming. On the other hand, the desktop side is always the same story; tact on graphics to troubleshoot your dGPU. But they could pair the lower end i3s with XE Max to go against AMD's budget APUs. Amazing video as always!
The extra CPU power is not going to waste if it virtualises. The uhd 730 iGPU should be tested in a VM for its passthrough. It would be also cool to see if it can or cannot share across VMs like VMDq or SR-IOV. I believe (at least for the latter) it cannot.
