The POTJ release has that same exact problem!
And that was the first re-release/repaint of the original Y-wing.
I had to put shimmy in mine too

    That's a nice looking pilot.

That one, I can't recall his name at the moment, came in a 4 pack. Thanks for watching.

I remembered buying this from Toys R Us out of Lafayette, Louisiana. I bought the figures for this Y-Wing too. A great exclusive for the money I paid for it.

I had the yellow version . I remember it coming with a yellow R4 and a pilot . The paint detail on this version is way ... kooler . It reminds me of the vintage die cast paint scheme .

tee bizz I only had / have a few die cast. The Y wing was not one of them unfortunately .

They broke easily I had the Two tie fighters , and a Y wing with no wings , that my grandmother picked up at a yard sale many moons ago ...

Nice review. Y-wing has been in my list of ships/vehicles for a while now

Thank you. I like them. But the plastic used on the landing gear is a bit 'soft' and it cannot bear the weight of this VC Y-Wing. I have to wedge a small piece of cardboard in there to keep it parked proper. thanks for watching.

I have this exact same model. Bought brand new from eBay but I can’t open the hatch. I’m scared to pull too hard in case it breaks. And yes, I am trying to open it correctly.

This mold (aside from a few updates over the years) is basically the same one they’ve been using for 40 years. Really, really needs a solid remake. Better proportions and such

I would love to see a larger scale version like they have done with MF, X Wing, etc. Thanks for watching.

Shawn Henry Thanks! The R5 comes with other figures in Battle Over Endor 1 of 2. But I am sure their are eBay sellers that sell it individually.

The Landing gear issue has always been a problem. Ive got 3 different releases with this design and the issue was never fixed. I think it's a issue with the mechanism. The Clone Wars Ywing ditched the gimmick and just has the landing gear lowered by hand. Feels like pretty much the same kind of plastic though.

I just took my POTF Y-Wing apart, its complete rubbish inside of those things.. Each rear landing gear is driven by its own gear that is on the end of a very, very soft plastic rod and linkage that starts to twist and bend as it ages.. I actually cut the plastic gears off and glued them to my own fabricated, steal rod linkage. But I also have a shop, so one day its painting I am painting a 70 corvette, next I am fixing my POTF Y-Wing... I also reinforced the lever so now it clicks into up or down position.. As of now my Y-Wing rear landing gears actually hold the vehicle up on its own!!

What's up with those landing gears? They should've used a stronger plastic.
