Awesome list with great information and **actually interesting** perspectives!
haha thanks man!
Hey RB!

Church
I'm surprised at the number one, thought your number two would be first
I'm 48 and had all of these, thank you for making this video, almost brought tears to my eyes seeing my long ago childhood on the screen.
I feel the same. I gave mine all away to my cousins because I wanted to make space for my Warhammer 40k collection which I also gave away eventually. I do that sort of stupid stuff
Same. I’m lucky enough that I’ve still got mine. Got some miles on em but I got em
I'll be 46 soon enough and still have most of my Star Wars toys.
I know how you feel it did the same thing to me
48 and still have have most of them.
One of my fondest memories growing up was my neighbour and me getting a snow speeder and AT AT on Christmas morning and re enacting the battle of Hoth in our snow covered gardens using all of our toys. We barely noticed how cold it was because we were having so much fun.
Great times. Great video
Aw that’s so sweet!
Awww I like the Cloud-Car! It's got a very Mcquarrie feel to it.
I remember my older brother getting the AT-AT for Christmas back in the day and even as a small child I remember being aghast at how accurate it was to the film. The star wars vehicles had almost the same attention to details as airfix model kits and that's what made them so appealing to me, it was like have a playable movie prop in your bedroom. It was an amazing time to be a child.
The Snow speeder was the only ship I had as a child, it was such a good toy. I had many hours playing with it.
The JCPenny exclusive remote control Sand Crawler should have made the list. It had immense play value with the compartments, elevator and remote control movement, not to mention the rarity of owning one. The Shuttle Tydirium was awesome because of the size. Great list and thanks for posting.
Agreed
As a father of two boys, it was my job to install all the stickers on each SW machine that arrived at our home. Each surface cleaned, dried then sticker applied and gently rubbed down and then submitted for final approval of the lads. Many hours of fun for the boys and dad. No lasting side effects says he sitting here on May the Fourth wearing a SW Droids T-shirt.
Excellent Countdown, keep up the good work, from a Analog man of 69 summers. :o) BTW the stickers are still in place, never kept the boxes Dooohhhhh!
Even now at 48 years old, I look at the figures and vehicles and realise what things of beauty they are - the attention to detail and build quality have never been bettered.
When I was a child in the 80’s, growing up with Star Wars, we didn’t have much money so the biggest and best vehicle I ever had was the AT-ST, which I loved.
I have just started the journey of collecting the entire vintage action figure range. Once finished, I may pick up some of the vehicles too - first three on my never-had-before list would be AT-AT, Slave-1 and Darth Vader Tie Fighter…….ahhhhh…….good times ahead!
A good list, but I was hoping that the Imperial shuttle 'Tyderium' would appear in it.
brianartillery oh I’m 100% agree!
Top 11.
I completely agree. I mean I would be a little biased because that’s the only vintage vehicle I got as I inherited it from my dad. That thing is massive!!
I always loved the shuttle and wing design in Jedi. I’m not as familiar with the toy version.
Limited play features and can only fit two figures.
I sold a boatload of toys on this list on eBay 2 years ago (including a mint condition Y-Wing Fighter) that were in pristine condition from my childhood that had been on storage for 35 years. I was surprised how little monetary value they fetched and there were plenty of others for sale as well. I think the newer Star Wars movies might have diminished the value of the brand and leaving only merchants wanting them. I sold an original X-Wing from 1977 and a week later it was for sale at a higher price by the guy who'd won it who turned out to be a toy dealer and had a larger audience than I. I still have a bunch of Star Wars toys left, but the sadness of parting with these iconic and my favorite childhood toys wasn't worth the low value that I received for them. I always thought 40 years later these toys would be worth thousands, but again, there were tons of them on eBay and very cheap.
Matt Timmons I know what you mean, I’ve sold a few Starwars items from my childhood on eBay.
Always hoped they’d go to a collection. But most were simply sold on by dealers.
So will hold onto the rest.
I only had the LandSpeeder as a kid, but I loved it!
W landspeder is a number one
I had it too...it was cool...but limited as to what you wanted to do with it. I probaby had way more play time with the AST-5 or INT-4 rather than the Landspeeder. Yet, the Landspeeder is a must for any Star Wars fan.
I painted mine to be more accurate.
The B-Wing was my favorite. It was so cool. The speeder bike was #2 for me. Like you said, they really knew what they were doing by the time RotJ came along.
Can’t believe the Imperial Shuttle ship didn’t make the cut. It was always my favorite.
I was just coming down to the comments section to say EXACTLY the same thing - may not quite be the best, but DEFINITELY top 10 worthy
Is that the single seater one ? The mini version? I loved mine!
@@maximmitchell7080 I meant the full sized one with the handle underneath for you to swoosh it around the room.
Agree had the full size one and still have it.
@@JonCross Yep, I still have mine and it's original box too! - Stickers were applied a bit badly tho :(
The Sandcrawler deserves to be near the top. It is also like a playset like the Falcon. So fun to fill with Jawas and broken droids. Can't wait till Procustomfigures Mando figure comes out to have a good play.
I think many people never owned the Kenner RC sandcrawler. I did and broke the electronics, the door got torn off the hinges but I really liked it. Other people decry it for being too small.
14:45 It was Wedge who took out the AT-AT with his Snowspeeder, because Luke lost his gunner to laser fire then got shot out of the air.
Ah man , this video is brilliant!! Had most of these legendary pieces!! Fire took our house a little while back. My kids were just starting to get into STAR WARS & I was going to start the process (as they got older and less destructive etc.) of giving them my lifetime collection, piece by piece. Then as time moved forward , they would've also inherited the boxes , packaging and all the smaller accessories. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!! IT Has TOTALLY HELPED Me cope with the loss. I know the important thing is that we all made it out safely & we didn't forget the cat......
The Y-Wing was the ONLY Star Wars toy I had as a child back in the 80's. Although I will never choose it over the X-Wing, for some reason I feel glad the Y-Wing made it into your list.
It was a better looking toy in my opinion.
My best AND most iconic: 3- Twin Pod Cloud Car, Xmas season 1980, 2- Land Speeder, my birthday 1979, 1- ORIGINAL white TIE fighter, Xmas 1978. Loved your list but I choose these for a similar reason I choose 1978's Superman:The Movie as the best of it's genre. I was 9 yrs old when it hit the screens. Nothing can take that away. Thanks Tony, my Aussie brother in Arms, for another great show.
P.S. Even at 51, with my toys long gone, I'd stil like an original Y-Wing. Reminds me of the F-111 Aardvark I used to work in the UK. Big, fast, hard hitting and just the right amount of ugly to scare the bejezzus out of the enemy.
I love this list! It has so many beautifully preserved vintage Star Wars vehicles. I am a little sad to see my beloved sandcrawler did not make it on to the list, but that is just a matter of personal preference.
The Cloud Car is set up for social distancing- absolute Gem :) Excellent Vid :)
I only ever had 3 vehicles as a child: Troop Transport, Scout Walker and Snowspeeder...
...Despite being in less than perfect condition, I still have them 😁 The Snowspeeder was my favourite and now has a nice weathered look. Parts of the AT-ST are made from a plastic that has started to crumble.
Just to recap, the Snowspeeder’s awesome 😁
Great list! I always liked Darth Vader's TIE fighter, that was my favourite Star Wars toy. SLAVE 1 was a cool looking ship as well!
having two older brothers you can imagine my christmas disappointment when the oldest one got darths tie fighter, my other brother got lukes x wing, and yes i got ..... the orange cloud city escort .... not only could they make fun of me but all the kids we knew also did ... lul...
That's the worst. Sorry to hear about it.
@@AnalogToys lul.... Yeah, on the plus side I was the only kid in the neighborhood to have it, so there was that 🤣
Awesome nostalgia feast seeing all these again
I used to love my cloud car as a kid as it was easy to hold and “fly”. Glad I kept it in the box.
Great video.
I’m the same way. Really enjoyed the list but I really love the compact size of the Cloud Car. Unlike the TIE Fighter, it had no wings to fall off. And it was light and small and easy to hold and didn’t break. And unlike the mini-rigs it actually looked like something in the movie and shared the “realistic” lines of a Star Wars fighter craft. I loved the mini-rigs but most of them are basically variations on a box.
Agreed. I thought the Cloud Car was a great little ship. Room for two figures, working landing gear and cockpits along with an interesting "in universe" aesthetic, something a mini-rig couldn't hope to compete with.
Dude yes! I loved my twin pod too. The snow speeder is my favorite. The A wing came after I got into heavy metal, BMX bikes, guitars, chicks and cigarettes. I cheated myself.
Yes I had one of those as well.
My doubled as a sub when I took a bath.😂
Surprised the b wing wasn’t in the list but who cares they are all good
I remember getting the rebel transport they packaged it with 5 hoth backpacks and 4 gas masks
@@georgeaitken2719 yeah, see, and that is an feature that is often overlooked. That is one of the main reasons I wanted the Rebel Transport.
B-Wing is awesome. Rotating cockpits and two flight modes!
I had the Slave 1, X-Wing & Imperial Troop Transporter. I traded for an AT-AT but the other kids mother had a fit and made us trade back 😂
Great list! My personal favorite vehicle was the landspeeder (it was my first vehicle), but the snowspeeder was a good choice too.
Landspeeder was also my first and remains one of my favorites
What a great video. Remember receiving at AT-AT for my birthday as a child in the U.K. Unfortunately on the same day as my birthday my younger brother fell into my new toy breaking off one of its rear legs, from that day onwards I had a three legged AT-AT 😥
It can't chase your rebels and will eventually run out of ammo. Your rebels are thanking your brother.
He did that on purpose out of jealousy, haha. I'm sorry. I had one too but left it over at my friends house too long and his mom threw it away :(
This brought back a lot of memories.
The AT-AT and snowspeeder were my most favourite toys in the world as a kid.
Love the snowspeeder
The snowspeeder was fun, but doesn't even make my top 10.
Ahhh.. .those were the days... Thank you for upload, you really made my day.
Pretty much nailed it! Agree totally, especially about the worst vehicle. I remember getting the Cloud car and being really disappointed with it as a kid. It was pretty much just used as cannon fodder for my other spaceships.
My dad collected Star Wars in the late 80s early 90s and has nearly every vehicle festured. Does not have the Darth Vader Tie Fighter , many bought at garage sales for just a few dollars. He never got the star destroyer play set though. And he only has half of the sand crawler set, has the escape pod and base but missing the backdrop
OMG NO!! I loved my Cloud Car!! Hours and Hours of fun. But agree with your number one.
I only had the rebel transport. I lost it in a hurricane, I miss it! i remember playing with many of those toys, fantastic times.
Awesome video Tony. I really enjoyed your list and it was very kind of Michael from retroblasting to help you out.
The AT-AT was easily the most impressive of the vehicles. I always wanted one as a kid and was happy to receive the cardboard version. I only got the real thing as an adult. Funny enough, the cardboard version was lost along the way somehow so I bought one in the box for nostalgic purposes. It cost me even more than the plastic version...
Yes I asked for this toy every Christmas it wasn't until I was 37 years old that my mom gave it to me as a gag gift. I actually really enjoyed opening that present even at 37.
Excellent. I was a lil too old for them but appreciate them now. Thanks
Ah...memories...I had 3 of these...all on Christmas morning 1981. X-Wing, Millennium Falcon and Snow Speeder. Great list!
Speeder Bike ahead of the Slave 1? Not in my book. But to each their own.
I always thought the Speeder Bike was flimsy. My Cousin had that and with all the playing time he did with so many of the other Star Wars ships (his parents were well off, so he have almost every single ship), it was the first to break down.
@@drewstar412 Finally, someone else who agrees!
You should have at least given Lukes landspeeder an honorable mention.
Classic vehicle, but the toy didn't have all that much play value.
@@ariochiv
I don't know, mine got plenty of use.
@@lastguyminn2324 Mine did too, but that was because it was the only ground vehicle available at the time. Perhaps I should have said that it didn't have much in the way of play features. Two seats and a trunk.
And how about the Mini-Rig Cap-2? That was my Bossk ship and it had tons of play value. I think mine spent more time attached to my fridge than in my toy box.
@@RansomeStoddard Those aren't even from the movies.
Thanks for dusting off great memories! I miss my Dad. He would surprise me with these toys! I had the best childhood.
I’m loved these toys and the speeder bike is my favorite vehicle. I remember playing with my dad old toys
Anyone notice the Imperial Troop Transport made a cameo appearance in the final season 1 episode of The Mandalorian??? So cool when that thing showed up! It was 1978 all over again!
I did!!! They did it just for me!
And a Lego version now.
The Falcon will always be number 1 IMO. The Snowspeeder is good but nowhere as good as the Falcon.
The Falcon or the AT-AT should be number 1. They were my childhood.
Later Falcons blow the original out of the solar system.
@@Clay3613 True, the later versions of the Falcon were larger and more detailed. But that doesn't mean the original wasn't cool as hell when you are 7 years old.
The falcon was not good to play with in my opinion. Too big and cumbersome. Plus the leg always folded so it feel down.
Got to be the AT AT for me, the falcon was good though..
The Imperial Shuttle is my favorite vintage Kenner toy vehicle, followed by the Tie Interceptor. But I also love the AT-AT. I would say, these are my three favorite vintage Star Wars toys. Unfortunately I never had one of them as a kid. But I have them nowadays in my collection and I love them. As a kid I always loved my Speeder Bikes especially because I had the Ewok Village and two AT-ST Walkers. Still remembering playing hours with them on the carpet of my room. The Wampa snow monster was also one of my favorite SW toys. I can't remember exactly how many Imperials and Radar Laser Cannons my Wampa knocked out, but I'm sure it's been hundreds over the years.
I might disagree with the order of vehicles, but I think the top 10 are perfectly chosen and your worst is absolutely the worst. Nicely done Tony.
Although I knew about the existence of these toys since my childhood thanks to the catalogs that came with the toys my mom gave me, I never knew their features and inside, thank you for the great reviews.
Fantastic list and video !! I'm lucky to still have all my vintage Star Wars toys and my Snowspeeder has always been a favorite - I used the battery compartment as a weapons locker for the crew!
My sister and I were in our later teens when we started collecting Star Wars figures and vehicles, and we still lived with our parents. We hid everything from our parents to avoid our dad's ridicule, so we took everything out of the original packaging in order to wrap everything in tissue paper and pack them away in a less conspicuous for. I had moved into an apartment when the ATAT walker came out, so I still have that it it's original box, with all the tissue-wrapped figures packed in around it. I haven't taken them out of the box since the early 80's. We never imagined the original packaging would be so important in later value.
Still got a snow speeder , speeder bike and Slave 1 never taken out of the box. Great vid guys
Love your channel, Tony 🙂🥇👏🏻 Feels going back in time. You litterally played with all the same toys I did. I was born in 78 so the 80s was my childhood. Brilliant!
Ya..same here..☝🏼🙆♂️
Great video and content once again Tony, definitely agree with your number one slot, hoped the AT-AT and slave 1 would be a little higher up, but I always take new information from your vids, keep up the good work my friend
I was obsessed with this stuff during the very early 80s
Great points on every selection. Take that, cloud car! 😄
Gojitron it’s a Bad design assume the two pilots have their own controls and one wants to go left and the other right
Another great video Tony. I either had or still have many of those vehicles.
Only ever had one of these, we didn't have any money, but I absolutely loved playing with them at friends. They really were wonderful toys. I could not resist getting the Black Series Snowspeeder last year, scratching that itch years later. Wonderful vehicle.
I had Vader’s Tie and the Interceptor, they both fired off their wings
I kinda hoped to see a mini rig or two. I can’t speak for others, but they were the ones we actually had as kids, even if they are a little dumb (I actually really like the mini Shuttle).
Other than that, great list 👍
Mr Lurch had a few myself cant remember the name of the orange fighter but I used it as a awing
Agreed. Maybe Tony could do a 'Best Of' the Mini-Rigs. I had a number of these too because they were more affordable.
My favorite was the bubble tank
I had the steam roller!
Completely Agree! I could not afford mainly of the main shipt. I was lucky to get the snowspeeder. I, however, had most of the mini rigs. The ones that came later, the sand skiff, sand skimmer, Security scout, imperial sniper, ATL Droids interceptor and droids side gunner, never appealed to me.
My dad owns 2 of the speeder bikes and i had such a blast playing with them
Great video thank you so much. At the time of typing I only own the Scout Walker and Speeder Bike. However as a child growing up in the 80's I can happily remember having the Scout Walker (not the same one I have now), the Rebel Troop Transporter, Darth Vaders Tie Fighter, a Speeder Bike, (again, not the same one I have now), X-Wing Fighter, AT-AT, Millenium Flacon, and the Snow Speeder. I stupdily allowed my parents to sell them all in the 90's at a car boot sale. Yes, I know. Watching this I would love all of my above vehicles back but also the Y-Wing Fighter and, although not featured in this video, the Imperial Shuttle/ Again, great video thank you!!
Great stuff Tony, I would have put Slave 1 a bit higher in the list and the Imperial Shuttle included, just for its sheer size🙂
Awesome video. Really makes me sad I wasn’t alive and playing with toys until Jedi. I missed out on a lot. BTW where did you get the stand for the snow speeder?
eBay
Snowspeeder is my favorite as well. Great video.
Loved my snow speeder, it was by far my favourite- it’s in my moms basement somewhere but the canons are long gone.
The Falcon is number two so the Snow speeder must be in first place. Loved the Falcon and wish I hadn’t been a stupid teenager and binned it.
Qui-Gon John I literally blew mine up back in high school because I thought it would look cool - spoiler alert - it didn’t look cool and I wish I had it back
Once again, Tony provides an extremely professional vintage toy review, to educate and enjoy!
Spot on!! Currently restoring my snow speeder and milenium falcon!
I got most of those toys at garage sales!!! I was born in 77 and kids who saw the first two movies were teens and were selling all there toys at garage sales! Thanks for the memories
lol flying hamburger, never heard it called that.
It was actually a hamburger - apparently with a bite taken out of it - that inspired George Lucas when he designed it. (Or rather got Joe Johnston to design it) :)
A hamburger with an olive in the side were apparently the inspiration, although I've never gotten a olive with any hamburger place I ate at.
According to the legend of the Falcon’s conceptualization, the final version of the ship was actually inspired by a hamburger. George Lucas allegedly saw a hamburger with a bite taken out of it and an olive pinned to its side and advised Joe Johnston to envision such a shape while designing the Millennium Falcon.
I loved the snow speeder. Even at a young age, I realized that it was next level when compared to the other SW vehicles. I'm curious, did anyone else "install" a lower laser gun on the Falcon after seeing it deployed in the snow hanger on Hoth to take out Imperial troops? I used one of the dual cannons from a flakpanzer model that I had and, of course, drilled a hole in the Falcon right behind the cockpit to make it work. Collectors would cringe, but the play value was incredible.
The old catalogues never showed all the features, so this is great to see. I'm particularly taken by the modular nature of the Rebel Transport.
I’m 42 and I wish I still had all my Star Wars Toys. Man what amazing memories. Thank you for putting this list together. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Darth VadAr? 😂 (sorry Tony, had to)
I prefer like number one: Imperial shuttle.
You picked my ultimate favorite vehicle for #1. Awesome! Would like to see a review of the black series snowspeeder.
They really put a lot of thought behind these toys.
Boba's not the Deadliest, he's the Disintegratingest! 😂
DISNEY: Let's forget these uninspiring old toys and sell our own toys like the Rose Tico models.
LUKE SKYWALKER: What a piece of junk!!!
I ADORE THIS!!!! 40 years has lead to something incredible!!!! Please do an update video showing the other two sections
Great history lesson again snowspeeder is awesome
Dam this takes me back..... The days when Star Wars toys ruled and the force was not female...
Spot on 1️⃣ ☝️
This is an awesome list. I have always appreciated the overall design and play features of Star Wars vehicles. I love how you added your thoughts behind ranking each one. Also, it was great to see friends working together in creating great videos.
I’m a collector now & buy certain toys from this era, it was the golden age of toys, when technology , met imagination & the kids who would utilize it.
So glad the Snow Speeder was number 1. I always wanted one as a kid!
Speeder bike, X-Wing and my Millenium Falcon were my most played with toys back in the 80s
I think your list was pretty spot on, the snowspeeder toy is epic, not taking away from any other vehicle, but vintage, Power of the Force 2, Vintage Collection, & upcomming Black Series version, one of the coolest vehicles has gotten the love it deserves 👍
I had so many of these as a kid but long gone now. 😭😭
I totally agree with the Snowspeeder I had all of those models but I do think the B-Wing was really awesome and I did have one and was a monster of a spaceship.
My parents have me a snowspeeder for Christmas one year. I LOVED it! I used to try to try to crawl underneath the bed so I could see the laser light up. 😂
I'm excited just seeing the pictures of the toys
Lol! I had most of That stuff. The x wing, taun taun, scout walker. My millennium falcon is in my garage, missing pieces, dirty, and I still got a bunch of original action figures from episode 4 and 5. Wow the memories looking at that stuff
All I have left is a snow speeder and I want to buy everything out there I don’t care if it’s used I want it😮😎
Great video..
I had a few of these when I was young, they weren't cheap and my parents didn't have deep pockets. What I did have was brilliant though. Great memories..
I remember getting a vintage snow speeder for my 11th birthday and being so happy! Thanks for the video!
Love it! Still have my Falcon, X-wing and Snowspeeder vehicles, complete and functional. 😁
I had the original X-Wing, TIE-Fighter and landspeeder. My brother had the Millenium Flacon and the snowspeeder. I remember the landing gear on the X-Wing broke and the pegs on the back seats of the landspeeder broke off. I did a poor job decaling the TIE-fighter, and I think I ripped a decal or two. I think I still ahve a lot fo the figures, but I played with them HARD as a kid.
Another great video, thanks Tony.
Awesome list!
And I still have my snow speeder
Lol
Oh.. and the cloud car
