  • Real world review of the Specialized Creo Turbo SL by two normal folks on a normal ride. We were lucky enough to find this at one of our local bike shops; we visited three or four, and all reported that their bikes were 10 to 18 months out. We stopped by Trailhead Mesa on a whim and lo and behold, the perfect bike was waiting.

    Great Video guys and one that helped me push the order button on that exact same bike in the blue/hype colours 👌 very excited to see how it helps on hills as I’m heavier than most riders and definitely not as fit as I used to be so gave up road riding about 8 years ago… this bike has convinced me to get back on the saddle so I hope the price tag is worth it when it arrives in a week or so 🤞 thanks again, look forward to more reviews

    Very nice, congrats! I was only able to find the carbon model, so went with that. I also got the range extender, but haven't needed it yet.

    Thank you for the nice video. I'm 67, a lifelong cyclist, but I am looking at Ebikes. Maybe aluminum is all I need. I enjoyed this.

      Thanks Peter! I have a few other e-bike videos that might be of interest as well.

    important update on 2022 models is a chain guard bracket. you can get it as a spare and fit it yourself. stops the chain jumping off at the crank to the inside and Jaming...in the lowest gear...

    The statements in the video seem to be saying that a carbon bike is mainly for racers or people who like to say that their bike is carbon. Though that may be true, in reality carbon offers some major benefits. Without listing them all, suffice it to say that the two main benefits are that carbon offers a significant reduction in feeling a harsh ride, especially when compared to aluminum which is the worst for this. And though carbon absorbs road shock very well, it also has the highest efficiency in translating pedal force into forward motion.
    For some people these benefits are critical.

      All great points! For us, the benefits of carbon didn’t outweigh the cost of it.

    Hello again, Brian! I was out on a photo walk downtown on Wednesday and decided to drop in on one of the local bike shops on a whim. They are a Specialized dealer, but their website did not show any of these bikes in stock. Lo and behold, they had five of them in various sizes. So I pulled the trigger and bought the aluminum frame version (couldn’t really justify an extra $2000 for carbon). 😕 Anyway, I’m going to rewatch your video while I wait in anticipation to pick up my bike in a few days.

    In the cost equation, battery life is also a factor. If the efficiency increase with carbon results in 2 -3% more per ride, over the lifetime of the battery this will outweigh the the $800-1000 difference in cost.

    I've been looking for one of these (because I want to do what your wife did 😁). Sadly, I have been told there is a six to 24 month wait for them. This was a good video to show exactly what this bike is capable of. Your wife did great getting the bike up to 26 kph. It is designed to have the motor kick out at 20 mph (32 kph) by regulation.

      Hi Kevin…if there’s a Specialized dealer near you you might want to check them out. There is one near us that had a bunch of the e-bikes. Luckily two of them fit us! If I tried to order off of specialized website I don’t think we’d have one right now.

      @@BrianRouse I’ve been checking within a 100 km radius of home (I live in southern Ontario), and there is nothing. I did find a store that had the Giant brand, and I just found that brand kind of ugly in the e-bike category. I don’t actually want something that sticks out like an ebike. I might drop by our local dealer and actually order one. We do have a Trek dealer, and their version is not bad, either - but again no stock. So COVID certainly has changed things from feast to famine.
      Once the border opens up with fewer restrictions, I might check out the Michigan bike stores, as we are only a two hour drive away from there.

      @BrianRouse  Před 2 lety +1

      @@ckrodger you came to the Sam conclusions as we did. We thought the Giant was ugly too, and wasn’t totally impressed with Trek either. Specialized was perfect. It’s a little pricey but looks like a regular road bike unless you look closely!

      cut out… depends on where you are in the world

  • @rivergladesgardenrailroad8834

    mine cuts out at 27.4kph...(we are in a25kmph regs area) but of course one can go faster than that. but if one is not super fir, then realistically only down hill or with a tail wind.

  • @ckrodger
    @ckrodger Před 2 lety

    Brian, are you able to put on at least a rear rack on this bike? I do bike touring and the ability to bring my panniers is important.

  • @rivergladesgardenrailroad8834

    done 13,000klms, on my Creo.

  • @rivergladesgardenrailroad8834

    what is that noise ? ???, guess its the lady's sound track. ours doesn't make that much noise, but then we haven't filmed our rides uphill...

    • @BrianRouse
      @BrianRouse  Před rokem

      Yeah, the motor whines a little when your putting power in up a hill.

    In my opinion Specialized have made a big mistake in marketing this bike with aluminium forks even though it has the suspension in the head tube.
