  • So I was bummed that my commuter bike needing more fixing after the recent warranty recall fix, but I got an e-bike to ride home. And not just any e-bike, a Specialized Turbo Creo SL Evo. This bike is fun! So fun in fact, that I needed to ride it in the evening as well.
This video is not a review, but certainly gives some minor insight into e-bikes and where they might have a purpose for regular cyclists.
    Do I want one? Maybe.
But watch this space as I might see if I can borrow the road version and do some comparison tests.

What do you think about e-bikes? And have you ever tried one?

I have a Creo as I suffer with fatigue due to a brain injury. You can definitely do a short ride with no sweat but you would drain the battery really quickly. There is also an app that comes with it and you can set it up to control the amount of assistance to try and keep your heart rate level this means nearly no assistance on flats and then it starts to help you more as you climb. (I usually ride between 150-160 BPM). Having a Creo means I can get out and do rides without massively suffering with fatigue but also keeps me fit.

Would love seeing an older 120kg guy going 60+ km tour with it that would be proving the concept ;-)

Was contemplating buying one of these but that noise is awful!

I can understand you don't like it. I rather listen to reviewers that know the capability of the bike. You can fine-tune the bike assist (% support) based on your condition. It seems you run it always max power assist. Lucky I learned it from other CZcamsrs.

The Engine seems do be quite loud?!

You don’t feel the noise of the engine at all…. But the audio in the video picks it up too much…

I own on, love it and I only hear the motor (there is no engine on this bike) when in the top assist (turbo) level. I almost always ride in the eco mode so I get a much better workout. Riding in eco is like it I was riding a 15lb super expensive road bike.

Impressive bike, but fades in comparison to the coffee and bunny-hop 🙃

Maybe I should get an e-mtb and beat you up the trails...because I would never be able to beat you down them 😆 But yeah, my bunny hop was HUGE, I think I might ride slopestyle instead.

"I have barely done anything to come here": Well, its not the bikes fault its yours. Why do you turn on the motor if you dont need it? If you dont need it, just turn it off. Let it assist you, when you go uphill and you really need it. Its 13 kg, you can ride this bike perfectly without any battery left. So, you didn understand the thinking behind this e really lightweight e bikes.
