    I've often wondered about the prophecy about Zeus and Metis children. It was foretold that they'd have a daughter, and that daughter was Athena, and then a son. From what I can tell, every prophecy in Greek mythology always comes true, so how can Zeus overcome his fate?

    • @alienvisitor8393

      greek myths changes over time.also it would be weird if someone suddenly reveals that zeus was dethroned by his son while people were already worshipping zeus for centuries.
      or maybe there is a lost story of his son being revealed and defeated his father but everything we about ancient greek stories has a "mostly" consistent narration and those myths zeus has always been the king of olmpius

      I imagine if Metis escapes, she will devise a plan to topple Zeus, using the prophecy against him. She could transform into some hot chick to get his attention, and do the nasty with him in the hopes of conceiving a son who can overthrow him, just like Arthur's sister Mogan did when she slept with him so that their son born from this union Modred would one day rise up to take Arthur down.

      Some speculated that when Athena was born an "owl" emerged with her and never left Athena's side. (Either her mother or her brother transformed), while others think it's kinda metaphorical of the conversion from ancient Greek Polytheism for early Monotheism, more specifically the arrival of Christianity and abandoning the Old Gods and old ways of worship.
      Only thing missing is a myth to tell the story

    • @stevengreen9536
      @stevengreen9536 Před 6 měsíci +4

      @bentowers The short answer is by swallowing Metis he interrupted the prophecy. Athena was born first as was foretold. But with Metis trapped in Zues's belly the son who would overthrow him cannot be born.

    This is honestly the first time I've heard it said that Prometheus was the one who cut Zeus' head. In most versions I read it's Hephaestus who does it. Although I guess it makes sense that it's Prometheus as in some versions of Hephaestus origin he was born from the jealousy of Hera due to Zeus technically creating Athena by himself.

    • @blacknonbinarydisabledlesbian
      @blacknonbinarydisabledlesbian Před 6 měsíci +1

      Technically Hephaestus was born only because Hera felt jealous that Zeus gave birth to a being as Divine as Athena. It would be contradictory to say Hephaestus was already born even though a majority of versions claim he was only born because of Athena's birth. It would only make sense Prometheus was the one to split open Zeus's head. Disregarding Prometheus's prior myths, those are irrelevant to this

    I’ve always wondered if Gia’s prediction did actually come true; as her prediction was that the son of Zeus with his wife would dethrone him. Aries was Zeus’s son with his wife and did just that in the clash of the Olympian Gods. The only part I see up for debate is that Aries was Zeus‘s son with Hera instead. I have to wonder if Zeus hadn’t swallowed Metis, how that would’ve affected Greek mythology. I’ve never been able to find anyone to debate the topic with, but I find it to be an interesting take on the old mythologies.

    • @barbiquearea
      @barbiquearea Před 6 měsíci

      Its possible that Metis is bidding her time to one day escape Zeus's body to scheme against him. She could try to get the prophecy fulfilled by seducing Zeus and conceiving a son as revenge for what he did to her.

    • @blacknonbinarydisabledlesbian
      @blacknonbinarydisabledlesbian Před 6 měsíci +1

      Technically Ares did in fact gather his children to force an ultimatum onto Zeus and the other Gods and "end Greek mythology" since the gods could no longer meddle with the lives of mortals.
      As far as the myth regarding Metis, some versions do claim the Owl that Athena is always seen with is her Mother (or brother) in disguise.

    According to the information they have at that human-kind age, they use this writing expression such as Fobos to describe fear, anxiety and anger. This word was latter to describe phobias. This is a mere analogy between the changing temper ocean, with a person who has calmness as well as furiousness. Just like the god of the ocean. Is not that crazy, but clever the way they describe their cosmovision. Regards.
