National looked like it was sleep walking to victory and then it starts talking about pouring petrol on an already overheated property market. Where is all this foreign money going to come from? Ah, mostly from a country that the U.S.A is increasingly at odds with geopolitically. A smart long term strategy? Where is the desire for real tax reform? It is more inflationary to borrow and pay interest on debt than to just create the money for hospitals and schools. Most money in the system is now electronic anyway. Why not abolish income taxes and just have a consumption tax? The economy would boom.

It means they've had to work bloody hard to get enough money to buy land here. National are servants of big money interests!
It is a well-documented fact that both National and ACT have received a significantly larger amount of funding in big money donations than Labour. These big money donations are used to pay for advertising which is in turn used to win votes. Big money donations allow the rich and wealthy to wield massively disproportionate political influence. National and ACT openly benefit from this blatantly anti-democratic practice.
I think that this is a cause for concern. Such practices allow the wealthy to dominate the political system. Such practices encourage political parties to keep in mind the interests of the big money donors who fund their campaigns. This practice undermines democracy by giving the wealthiest few enormously disproportionate political influence.
National and ACT may reject the idea of disproportionate political influence for Māori, but they embody disproportionate political influence for the wealthy. These parties tell us that they believe in the principle of one person one vote, and this may be true in a very literal sense, but it does not stop them from openly benefiting from the massively disproportionate political influence of the wealthy. This disproportionate influence is a serious problem for those of us who want a democracy that is not dominated by a singular class. Why are we not spending more time talking about this blatantly un-democratic practice?
National and ACT are funded by the rich and will serve the rich. Keep the servants of big money out of the beehive!!!
