Although i change engine oil for my Honda crv many times, I see this video is great.
You’re a great teacher!
Very details with great explain.
Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks for the complete Thorough video
Very good video showing the entire oil change I especially like when you explain about removing the plastic from the filter correctly “7:40 “. Years ago I towed a car to my shop that had a bad fuel pump. After replacing the pump I decided to open the old pump and see why it failed . Inside the pump was the foil from a bottle of dry gas that had locked up the pump causing the failure.
Great tips as always Dave! And Happy New Year.
Thanks for all the value in this video, I really appreciate the comment /tip about not opening the oil cap until it starts to drain, I've always done this previous and I can see where some of my splashing mess comes from. Also great tip on the cellophane on the filter.
👍
Thanks for making this video. I was able to change my oil and filter on my CRV today. Your instructions and tips were very helpful. Thank you!
Outstanding video on the crv oil change
Great video, thank You for sharing !
Good job buddy 👍
Good tip also is to coat the bolts with antisieze or fluid film on the inspection pan if you live in the Salt belt. They are a bugger to get loose when siezed.
If that's my car I'm cutting a 13"x13" hole in that belly pan right where the oil filter and drain bolt are located. Is that genius or what? haha Why the manufacturers don't put a small access panel under there I'll never understand.... oh wait I do know why because they are saving 3 cents. Great tutorial vid!

Dude. Excellent info and safety precautions! I have 4-1/2 shaky ones like my friend Dave used to say and people don’t realize Amazon doesn’t give you new fingers!!! I would suggest adding oil and inspect for leaks before covering is put back on. Had a tie wrap sneak between oil filter when I could install from above and lost oil on driveway! Well done!!
👍
Hi Bigdog, thanks for the excellent video. Where do you purchase your Honda service manuals with all the job specs?
what kind of screw is in the very beginning to take the oil pan cover off? saw that you used a drill and a screwdriver, but couldnt tell which kind of bit it was.
thanks
Thanks my friend has a 2019 CRV with the same engine. I always wondered how to remove the cover plate.
No problem 👍!
Nice video, by the way do know what size screw you removed from the metal lid, especially the one facing the rear of the vehicle.
Filter on Left Drain on Right and do not change crush washer!
DO NOT change any crush washers. Hand tighten both Filter & Drain.
Again
Do Not change any crush washers. 2015 Honda CRV has the original factory crush washer. I change my own oil and filter and my 2015 CRV never has leaked a drop of oil.
Very thorough. I thought that filter torque spec was 13 or 14 foot pound
Where did you get the old style oil filter from?
You should do a video on what the Honda mechanic goes over using their Honda Certified Used Cars 150 Point Inspection Checklist. There's pdf copies online. I use the ones from NADA Guides.
Are those 1.5 liters engines worth it now that Honda has fixed their oil dilution issues?
It was a bad day when the 2.4L got taken away from us.
I am keeping my old CRV until mother nature takes it away/ rust belt.
Great tips, how do you like Pennzoil?
No issues, I use several different oil manufactures, today happened to be them.
Do you know if these 1.5L turbo have any oil dilution issues?
Yes, they do. czcams.com/video/ld0pggD5HNc/video.html
Turbo engine no bueno
👍
Thanks 👍!
My Honda dealer charges $40 for my 2004 Element so I take it to them. Plus they perform a multi point inspection for free😅
Happy New Year 🎆
👍
and Happy New Year to you too!
should try changing the filter first...never need a wrench for it......world of difference ;)
Thanks for the comment!
I thought Honda fixed the oil dilution problem.
I don't know about the ones rolling off the factory floor today but in 2017 (the vehicle year in this video) they certainly had problems.
@@BigDog50001 thanks
It effected a small percentage of 2017 models and was fixed after that.
@@PaulNaylor3 my parent's 2019 CR-V has it, and Honda Canada won't admit to it and they made us pay for repair that never repaired anything to begin with.
What happens if I add the whole bottle of 5 quarts. I have a 2020 CRV 1.5 liter engine. Is it a big problem or what??
Yes!!! More oil is much worse than less oil. I know my comment is probably of no help at this point. But being a little low on oil is not nearly as bad as over adding.
23 min video? I watched a 4 min video, then did the oil change on my Rhino ramps in my driveway…..in less than 10 mins, start to finish.
Tech tip…..You might get more views with some better editing!! 😂
Manufacturer says 3.7L...i drain and fill 3.7 and its done.. No need all this drama and checking
lol, no need for you to watch videos then. You already seem to know everything.
@@BigDog50001 sure 👍
