- Hello Super Friends! Recently Mattel sent me a promotional product sample of the soon coming SDCC DC Multiverse Strange Lives of BATMAN Silver Age 4- pack. I loved opening this San Diego Comic Convention 80 years of Batman celebration collectible but FULL DISCLOSURE: Just because it was sent to me doesn't mean they automatically get a pass as far as QC issues goes. This, like all of my other reviews, will be honest and unbiased. Let's have a look together!

This is nifty, though I wish the Bruce Wayne head was just a bit smaller. It looks rather large on the body. Still, glad it's included, though.
That packaging is nuts. Looking forward to your thoughts on the Justice League animated figures.
I will give credit where credit is due. Mattel does excellent jobs for comic con packages. Usually including some sort of light and sound gimmick. it becomes a nice display piece on the shelf.
I'll try to stay positive and hope Mattel either brings enough to comic con or have a reasonable stock for online store afterwards.
They are still so behind in the business. Look at how well Hasbro is doing.
They're so out of the box that I have to love them, I remember looking thru the crazy covers of that era and it's so crazy to see some of the covers made into figures.
I know they did the Superman Through the Ages box a few years ago but I would love it if they did something like this for the Silver age Superman.
DC Directs Supean through the ages Box set was pretty rad. I ended up with two of them over the years. A Multiverse Superman set would be fun. I was thinking they would do something cool like that last year but they just didn't.
No Bat-Baby?? So sad!
There has been alternate Bat-costumes since the late 40s. Armored Batman, Mummy Batman, Space Batman and the like. Not grim and gritty but a lot of fun and creativity!

Remember the Spidey figure from the first movie and all the Marvel Legends crap out of the Wal-Mart stuff, back in those days articulated figures were the hype but now they have to cover all the joints from the body. One thing I hate is how the look like if they´re cut out and actually from adult collectors can expect more. Love the artwork, but eventually this doesn´t come from Mattel. Long live the SA.

Mattel is crushing it with the SDCC packaging and figures, i know its not DC but i saw today what Mattel did with He Man, very cool stuff! Btw a zebra is black with white stripes, i don't know about that batman!?

great score, nothing better than free figures, man, i'm very happy you got it since you are in Canada and I believe you said you are not going to SDCC. I'm going to missed not getting this set, been going to SDCC since '98 with only a few years missed in between but this year i was not able to get tickets. i pride myself in having most mattel SDCC exclusives, this is one that i won't be able to get. hopefully one of my coworkers that is going will be able to get it for me. same thing with the DC Funko exclusives.
I do hope you manage to snag one some how.
My gripes are, I'm not digging the newer Multiverse bodies, mainly were the legs connect to crotch, looks so strange. Stinks that they didn't use a silver age bat chest emblem. A+ for effort though!

Great review, Brad, but a question... does the lower face come off of the other three figures or just the classic blue and gray? Too bad they didn't include a hood-down piece to use with the Bruce Wayne and alien heads. (BTW, check your gmail…)
It looks better than I expected but if I were able to get these I think I would keep them in the box.
Mine went all back in the box as a display piece.
Hey Brad do you know any batmobiles that fit in the 3 in 3/4 scale
Mostly the older toy lines pre-Mattel era. It might feel a little bit bigger but for vehicles especially that Batmobile it doesn't feel too put of place.

Mattel has made several die-cast 1:18 scale Batmobiles under the Hot Wheels banner. Not sure how well, if at all, figures will fit inside but should look good standing next to them. There was also that electronic Arkham Batmobile from the video game that came with a 4" Multiverse Batman figure at SDCC a few years back.

How does DCM Scale with DCUC? The cape is correct for the way he was drawn during the late 40's to the mid to late 60's the Brode cape did not happen till Denny O'neil and Neal Adams took over in the 70's and brought him back to his darker roots of th 30' and early 40's.
The multiverse figures are usually a hair bigger but you can mix and match with them and they look ok.
How tall are these
These are 6 inch figures (compared to the current McFarlane figures that are 7 inch figures)
Shouldnt negative's Cape be white?
I hate Mattel, I hate scalpers but the set could have vercome all hate and got to have it, so I paid the piper.

They can that way. And it was only the Zebra cape. That's what happens when they are stuffed up in the package.
